Chapter 25 : Project

Two months later, Switzerland

At this moment, a hooded man could be seen sitting on the side of a mountain, staring at the scene that was happening below him, with a large frown on his face.

As he looked at the huge construction site that had appeared near the bottom of a volcano, the man couldn't help but feel extremely weird.

"Who in their right mind would even think about building a hotel here, not only that, they are actually doing it?" mumbled the man as he watched an excavator move dirt and rocks into a large truck.

Even though this land was extremely close to the volcano, as he thought about the land price here, as well as the price it would take to transport building materials and personnel here, the man felt a chill in his heart.

At the same time, another doubt lingered within the mind of the man as he watched the beautiful environment be completely decimated by human activity.

Why in the world did the Swiss government approve the building of this damn hotel, this was what really puzzled the man ever since he had heard about this construction.

Usually, the moment something like this happened, when the natural environment was at risk, the Swiss Environment Agency would take action, but for some reason, this did not happen this time.

Even though both the environment, and the hotel that was going to be built would be quite at risk, mainly thanks to the volcano next to it, which had erupted back in 1939, nobody seemed to have taken action, even after the man had filed a complaint, nothing seemed to have changed.

But even though the man was quite angry about this, he still knew that since things had progressed to this level already, his small actions wouldn't be able to stop the building of this hotel, causing him to let out a sigh and take out a cigarette.

"I guess the most I can do is hope that you erupt and take this hotel with you, so that rich person loses their money," mumbled the man as he lit up his cigarette and began smoking.

Then, under the sad eyes of the man, a few trucks slowly arrived from a distance, bringing even more huge excavators with them.

...

At the same time, in a location not far away,

As he looked at the man sitting in front of him, as well as at the two bodyguards standing behind him, who were clearly armed with firearms, Swain couldn't help but slightly gulp.

"Mr Andropov, the construction of the hotel is going even smoother than expected, with the 'help' you brought us a few weeks ago, the construction will be finished in just over a year, everything is going according to plan," said Swain as he looked at Andropov, who was currently staring at him with a faint frown on his face.

"Have you found it?" asked Andropov, causing the fake smile on Swain's face to suddenly disappear.

"Mr Andropov, you must understand, what you are asking me and my men to do is harder than finding a needle in a haystack, I'm sure that we will be able to find with more time," said Swain, causing Andropov's eyes to slightly narrow.

"I see, so how far have you excavated inside the volcano," asked Andropov as he continued staring at Swain, causing the other to involuntarily twitch.

"Right now, we have examined roughly twenty-five percent of the entire volcano," said Swain, causing Andropov, who was listening to him, to touch his beard and think.

"Swain, didn't you say that it would take you at most six months to find it?" asked Andropov as he took his hand off his beard.

"Yes Mr Andropov, that's right," said Swain, causing Andropov to faintly nod.

"Well, then, I'm not very good at math, but explain this to me, since you went through twenty percent of the volcano in two months, how would you fully examine it in six months?" asked Andropov as he stared at Swain, causing the latter to faintly sweat.

"Mr Andropov, finding the object doesn't mean going through the entirety of the volcano, six months was just an initial estimate," said Swain, causing Andropov to stare at him.

"No, I remember very well what you had told me back then, Mr Swain," said Andropov as he suddenly took out a stack of documents before handing them to Swain.

At first, Swain felt a little bit worried as he read through the documents, but the more he went through them, the more and more terrified Swain became.

"Mr Andropov, let's calm, we are in a society of law and order, we can figure things out rationally," said Swain as he watched the two bodyguards approach him.

At this moment, Swain was silently cursing himself for being greedy, which had caused him embezzlement of funds to become known.

But of course, based on the fact that he was still rather calm, Swain still did not know in what sort of situation he was actually in.

...

As he looked at the eleven people, who were seated at a table in front of him, Giuseppe couldn't help but let out a silent sigh.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I have examined the plans, as well as our current progress, and I have to regrettably inform you that we are behind schedule," said Giuseppe as some graphs appeared on the projection behind him.

"Rather fortunately, though, we will still be able to complete the task at hand on time as long as we use the power, which Mr. Swain, our sadly passed away colleague, has given us," continued Giuseppe, causing waves of hypocritical applause to emerge from the group.

Only a few moments after that, the discussion continued away from that rather 'sensitive' topic, as nobody in that room wanted to address the 'accident', which had unfortunately befallen Swain.

But thankfully, the motivation to get the hell away from this place as soon as they completed their end of the deal motivated these men and women greatly, making them work several times faster.
