A step closer

Avalyn's troubled face after waking up from a nightmare lingered in my mind. I was used to her stoic expression, it was hard to figure out how I should feel upon seeing the raw emotion plastered on her face.

I was worried, that was given. One minute we were both fast asleep and then the next, she was suddenly gasping for breath, sitting upright.

The look on her face had instantly caught my attention right after the lights were turned on. There was a mixture of fear and something else which I cannot decipher. It made me wonder what kind of nightmare did she have? Did it perhaps involve her past with Marcus Zephanie and X? Or did she somehow dreamed of a possible horrible outcome in the future?
