Chapter 5 Setting Up for Success"?

Sable woke up to the sound of his alarm ringing. He rubbed his eyes and sat up in bed, feeling groggy but excited for the day ahead. He got dressed and headed to the kitchen, where his mother was already busy preparing breakfast.

"Good morning, Mom," Sable greeted her with a smile.

"Good morning, son," his mother replied, turning around to face him. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah, I did," Sable answered, taking a seat at the table. "I'm excited about our move to Green Valley. It's going to be a new start for us."

His mother nodded in agreement. "Yes, it is. And speaking of a new start, have you thought more about the new school you'll be transferring to?"

Sable nodded. "Yeah, I did some research last night. It's a good school, and I'm looking forward to starting fresh there I lied." "Because it's the same school I attended in my previous life".

That's great to hear," his mother said, placing a plate of eggs and toast in front of him. "And speaking of new things, I heard you talking about buying a new desktop for your room. Are you planning to use it for schoolwork?"

Sable shook his head. "No, actually. I want to use it to trade stocks in the future. I've been reading up on it, and I think it could be a good way to make some extra money."

His mother raised an eyebrow. "Really? That sounds interesting. But I heard it's very risky, and you'll also need a good internet connection for that. Have you looked into that yet?"

Sable nodded. Don't worry I'll read and study a lot before truly going into it" Regarding the internet, I was thinking of asking PLDC to install their internet service at home. Can you help me with that?"

His mother smiled. "I'll trust you with the way you will handle your money but be very careful okay, and I'll call PLDC later to inquire, and also to get them to set up their internet service here."

Sable said thanks, besides, I am only going to use a portion of the money, i'll also send 2.5 million pesos to your account later so you'll have money to buy for whatever you need.

Sable arrived at the Mall of Asia, the largest shopping mall in the Philippines. He was in awe of the sheer size of the place, with its modern architecture and numerous shops, restaurants, and entertainment facilities. He made his way to a computer store and approached a sales lady.

Sable: "Hi, miss. I'm looking for the best computer.

Sales Lady: "Sure, we have a lot of options here. May I know your budget?"

Sable: "Around 150,000 pesos. I want it to be top-of-the-line and capable of running the latest games and software."

Sales Lady: "Great! With that budget, we can build you a high-end gaming PC. Let me show you some of our products."

She led Sable to a display of computer parts and accessories, explaining the specifications and features of each one.

Sales Lady: "This is the best processor in the market right now, the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650. It costs around 50,000 pesos. We can pair it with this motherboard, which supports up to 8GB of RAM and has multiple expansion slots for graphics cards and other devices. It costs around 20,000 pesos. For the graphics card, we recommend the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280. It costs around 35,000 pesos. And for storage, we have the Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB hard drive, which costs around 18,000 pesos. With these components, we can build you a top-of-the-line gaming PC that can handle even the most demanding applications."

Sable: "That sounds great! Let's go with those parts."

Sales Lady: "Sure thing! We'll also include a gaming keyboard and mouse, a high-end headset, and a gaming chair. Your total bill will be 138,000 pesos."

Sable: "Hmm, that's quite expensive. But I know I can recoup that in a single trade with the FutureNet he said inside his mind."

He handed over his payment and arranged for the delivery of the to his new address.

After buying the computer, Sable went to a nearby restaurant to have his lunch. He found a cozy place in the mall that offered local cuisine, and he ordered one of his favorites, chicken adobo with garlic rice and a side of ensaladang talong.

The dish was perfectly cooked, with the chicken tender and flavorful, and the rice fluffy and aromatic. The ensaladang talong, which was made of grilled eggplant and tomatoes, complemented the dish perfectly.

After lunch, Sable decided to explore the other facilities of the mall. He went to the cinema to watch a movie that premiered that month, "Spider-Man 3". The movie was action-packed and thrilling, and he enjoyed it even though a lot of people would disagree. Maybe it has to do with me being happy at this time, and also because it has been more than a decade since the last time he watched a movie in a theatre.

After the movie, Sable went to a few entertainment facilities, including an arcade and a bowling alley. He had fun playing some games and even won a few prizes. He also went to the nearest tech store and bought a new Nokia N95 for 25,000 pesos, an iPod Nano for 7,000 pesos, and a Bluetooth headset for 3,000 pesos.

As the day went by, Sable realized that the Mall of Asia was indeed the largest mall in the Philippines. It was bustling with people, and there were endless options for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Overall, Sable had a great time at the mall, and he felt satisfied with his purchase of the computer. It cost him around over 130,000 Philippine pesos, but he knew he can earn it back when he starts trading.

Sable walked through the door of their new home, still feeling full from the late lunch he had at the mall. He saw his mother in the kitchen preparing dinner, but he shook his head when she asked if he was hungry.

"I'm still full, mom. I had a big meal at the mall," he said with a smile.

His mother chuckled. "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed your time there. Did you get everything you needed?"

Sable nodded. "Yep, I got the computer and all the accessories it will arrive tomorrow. It was a bit more expensive than I anticipated, but it's worth it."

His mother raised an eyebrow. "How much did you spend on it?"

"More than 100,000 pesos," Sable replied, seeing the look of shock on his mother's face. "But it's the best build for 2007, and I'll be using it to trade stocks in the future. I need to make sure it's fast and reliable."

His mother smiled and shook her head. "You're already thinking about your future. I'm proud of you.

Mom, did you also contact the internet service provider?"

His mom nodded. "Yes, I called PLDC and they said they'll install it in a few days."

Now go ahead and rest. I am sure you will be busy again tomorrow, and you'll need all the energy you can get."

Sable entered his bedroom and closed the door behind him.

He sat on his chair and looked at the clock. It was only 7:30 pm, but he was already thinking about what he needed to do tomorrow. He needed to ask his mom for help in setting up a stock trading account. He knew he couldn't do it alone since he was still a minor.

Sable stood up and opened his cabinet to get the necessary documents he would need for the account. He took out his birth certificate, his school ID, and his mom's ID. He checked everything twice, making sure he had everything he needed.

He felt a bit overwhelmed by the idea of setting up a trading account and starting to invest his money, but he knew he had to do it to secure his and his mom's future.

Sable took a deep breath and decided to work on his plan. He wrote down a list of things he needed to do, including researching the best stocks to invest in, and how to monitor the market.

Feeling satisfied with his plan, Sable leaned back on his chair and closed his eyes.

Early Morining

Sable sat down at the table with his mom for breakfast, a smile on his face. He couldn't wait to ask her for help in setting up a stock trading account.

"Good morning, Mom," he said cheerfully. "Can I ask you for a favor?"

"Of course, what is it?" his mother replied as she served him a plate of pancakes and eggs.

"I want to create a stock trading account, but I'm not yet 18 years old. I read online that minors are not allowed to do it on their own and they need a guardian to help them with it."

His mom looked at him quizzically. "Are you sure about this, Sable? Trading stocks can be risky and I don't want you to get hurt."

"I know, Mom," Sable replied, "but I've done my research and I'm willing to take the risk. I believe that it's a good investment for the future."

His mom looked at him thoughtfully for a moment before nodding her head. "Alright, I understand. Let's see the documents that you've prepared."

Sable excitedly pulled out the documents that he had prepared the previous night and handed them to his mom. "Here they are, Mom. I've already filled out everything that needs to be filled out. All we need to do is sign them."

His mom reviewed the documents carefully and asked him a few questions about the process. After being satisfied with his answers, she signed the documents and assured him that they would go to the bank after breakfast.

Sable and his mom finished their breakfast and headed out to the bank where they previously opened their accounts. As they entered the bank, they were greeted by a friendly teller who recognized them.

"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Cruz! How can I assist you today?" the teller said.

Sable spoke up, "Good morning. We are here to inquire about opening a stock trading account."

The teller smiled, "Oh, we actually have a brokerage firm that we partner with that offers an online trading platform. Would you like me to introduce you to one of our brokers?"

Sable and his mom nodded in agreement and the teller called for a broker. Within a few minutes, a broker named Mr. Hernandez arrived and introduced himself.

"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Cruz. I heard that you're interested in opening a stock trading account. We offer an online trading platform that you can access at any time. You can buy and sell stocks, and even monitor your portfolio's performance," Mr. Hernandez explained.

Sable's mom seemed interested, "That sounds convenient. Can you show us how it works?"

"Of course," Mr. Hernandez said as he led them to a computer terminal where he showed them the online trading platform.

Sable was amazed at how easy it was to buy and sell stocks. He also learned about the different types of orders he could place, such as market orders and limit orders.

After the demonstration, Sable's mom asked, "How can we set up an account?"

Mr. Hernandez handed them a form and said, "You can fill out this form, and we'll just need a copy of your ID and proof of billing address. Since Sable is a minor, we'll also need a copy of his birth certificate and a letter of consent from you as his legal guardian."

Sable sat across from Mr. Hernandez, He took a deep breath before asking his question. "Mr. Hernandez, how much leverage can you give me if I want to trade stocks?"

Mr. Hernandez looked at Sable, surprised by the question coming from a young boy. "Well, Sable, normally, we offer leverage of 2:1 for retail clients. But given your knowledge and experience in the market, we can give you a higher leverage of 5:1."

Sable's eyes widened in surprise. He didn't expect that he would be offered such a high leverage. "Wow, that's great! And how much margin do I need to maintain my account?"

Mr. Hernandez smiled. "For a leverage of 5:1, the margin requirement is 20%. So, if you're going to fund your account with 7 million pesos, you need to have 1.4 million pesos in margin."

So how many funds are you going to place in your account? asked Mr. Hernandez

10 million pesos answered Sable

Sable nodded, "I understand. And is there a possibility to increase my leverage in the future?"

Sable nodded, taking note of the information. "Okay, thank you for the information, Mr. Hernandez. I'll keep that in mind."

Mr. Hernandez was impressed by Sable's knowledge and understanding of the market. "You know, Sable, you seem to have a good grasp of how trading works. Where did you learn all of this?"

Sable smiled. "I've been studying and practicing on a demo account for a while now. I want to make sure that I'm ready when I start trading with real money." "I can't possibly say that I came from the future and has knowledge about how it goes."

Mr. Hernandez nodded. "Well, it looks like you're ready, Sable. Just be sure to manage your risks carefully."

Sable handed over the prepared documents to Mr. Hernandez, and his mom signed the letter of consent. They were all set to open their stock trading account.

"Great, we'll process your application, and you'll receive your account login details within three business days," Mr. Hernandez said as he handed them a brochure about the online trading platform.

Sable was thrilled that he was finally going to start his stock trading journey with his mom's guidance.

After he finished talking with Mr. Hernandez

Sable walked up to the teller at the bank and handed over his deposit slip.

"I'd like to transfer 2.5 million pesos to my mother's account," he said.

The teller looked at the slip and then at Sable. "Are you sure you want to do that? That's a significant amount of money."

"Yes, I'm sure," Sable replied confidently. "I trust my mother completely and I want her to have access to the funds."

The teller nodded and began processing the transfer. "May I ask what the purpose of the transfer is for?" she inquired.

Sable smiled. "We just bought a new house, and I want to make sure she has enough funds to furnish and decorate it as she pleases."

The teller nodded again, impressed with Sable's maturity and responsibility at such a young age. "Very well, sir. Your transfer has been processed. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"

Sable thanked the teller and they left the bank, feeling satisfied that he had taken care of his business and helped his mother in the process.

"Let's see," he muttered to himself. "I transferred 12 million pesos to my trading account and 2.5 million to Mom's account. That leaves me with..." he paused, doing the math in his head. "5.5 million pesos for emergency purposes. and more than 1 million pesos remaining from the purchase of the house and lot, computer and other expenses.

Sable and his mom arrived home immediately since today is the arrival of the new computer and also the installation of the internet connection. As soon as they arrived, they saw a delivery truck parked in front of their house.

"Good timing, the delivery has arrived," Sable said with a smile.

They were greeted by the staff from the computer store who were there to help set up the computer and its accessories. Sable was excited to get started, and he eagerly watched as they unboxed the components and began assembling the system.

After a few minutes of setup, the staff member assisting them asked Sable to take a seat and try out the computer. Sable quickly began exploring its features and said everything is good. Once they had finished, Sable thanked them for their help and gave them a small tip as a token of his appreciation.

After a while, the doorbell rang. It was the representative from PLDC, the internet service provider they contacted. He introduced himself and went straight to work installing the router and setting up the internet connection.

As they waited for the installation to finish, Sable and his mom sat in the living room and talked about their plans for the coming days. Sable was excited to start trading and his mom was happy to support him in his endeavours.

When the installation was finally done, Sable eagerly turned on the computer and connected to the internet.
