The neat handwriting on the cover reveals that the red diary belongs to a university student named Emily. Chen quickly glanced through it and found that the first part of the diary records some trivial matters. The only notable part is that Emily seems to be in a passionate love affair.
The man with whom Emily is involved is called Jay, as mentioned in the diary. He seems to be a popular and handsome man. It can be seen that Emily is looking forward to this relationship, and her naive and romantic fantasies show through her words.
Under the man's honeyed words, Emily soon moved from the dormitory to the apartment and began living together.
As time went on, the second half of the diary became increasingly dark. Although Emily was an inexperienced university student, she eventually used her woman's intuition to uncover the fact that the man was straddling two boats. However, one of the boats belonged to a very wealthy and powerful woman. On one side was a naive and idealistic girl, while on the other was a career stepping stone that could help her advance. Naturally, the scales of love tipped toward money and power, and the two soon began to talk of marriage.
Emily was filled with pain and resentment at the truth that Jay had kept from her. She desperately begged him to stay, but he mercilessly broke up with her when a better opportunity came along.
In her diary, Emily angrily vented her anger and resentment. The final entry read: "Jay, you are a liar! I am tired of your deceit and manipulation. If you want to leave me, I will make sure you get nothing and lose your honor and reputation!"
Closing the journal, Chen couldn't help but sigh.
This Jay was undoubtedly a total jerk, but until the end of the diary, the girl named Emily still couldn't get him out of her mind, hating his deceitfulness but still hoping that he would come back to her.
She even went so far as to threaten him.
But why did the diary end here?
Perhaps she realized he had betrayed her, heartbroken and disheartened, giving up on recording this sad love story in her diary and deciding to start her life anew.
This explanation obviously fails to convince, in contrast, Chen tends to go for another reason.
Could it be that, threatened and unable to free himself, the man took the extreme measure of killing Emily when he met her, then disposing of the body to cover up the crime?
That would fit with the beginning of the story, the passenger on a rainy night, the suitcase, an off-the-beaten-path destination...
So it turns out, the female ghost wandering outside was the murdered girl Emily, seeking revenge for her death. It all makes perfect sense.
In fact, at the very beginning of the story, Emily had already gotten her revenge, but her angry grudge did not go away.
"She has become a heartless, indiscriminate killing ghost," Chen thought as another bolt of lightning illuminated the window, revealing the vague figure of a woman standing outside. It was the ghost, staring at him with a somber expression in the bright light of the thunderstorm.
Suddenly, a vague premonition flashed through Chen's mind, then he suddenly noticed that a lot of black hair was pouring in through the cracks of the window.
"Fuck...no way..."
As the hair kept pouring in, the window of the room began to open gradually, and a cold air rushed in. The female ghost outside was slowly climbing inside from the window. Chen suddenly realized that he had made a mistake. He had always thought that as long as he stayed in the apartment, the female ghost would not be able to attack him, but now it seemed that this was not the case.
The apartment's ban on the female ghost seemed to be only a temporary buffer, leaving him time to find clues.
Now new hints have appeared, and danger has come along with it.
This is a trope in storytelling.
Without hesitation, he dropped the diary and was about to run away when a gust of wind came and with a bang, the door of the room was closed again!
"What the hell is this trying to do to me?"
The female ghost crawled over like a spider. Chen failed to dodge in time and a sharp pain came from his back.
"Ssss..."
A sharp pain made Chen gasp for cold air, followed by an icy sensation... He almost felt the ghost's cold claws on his back, and he knew that at any moment, a bloody hole might be carved into his body.
At the critical moment, Chen's eyes darted around and he noticed a door right beside him. Suddenly, the door slammed open, revealing a bloody bathroom. More importantly, the wall near the bathtub had mysteriously collapsed, revealing a dark, gaping hole.
Ghost stories are just ghost stories, and anything strange could happen to advance the plot. Although Chen didn't know where the hole in the wall led, he gritted his teeth and bent down to crawl into it! Behind him, he could hear the ferocious roar of a female ghost. In her current form, she obviously couldn't fit into the narrow hole. Chen relaxed slightly and crawled into the hole for a while until he reached the edge. Climbing out of the strange hole, Chen stood up and looked around in confusion. On the wall opposite him, the large number "B5" caught his eye. The hole in the wall of room B2 led to the stairs of building B5, this twisted world was indeed inexplicable.
The supernatural stories are really bizarre. Anything can happen to advance the plot. Even though Chen didn't know where the hole in the wall led, he gritted his teeth and bent down to crawl into it. Behind him, a female ghost screamed.
Obviously, she couldn't fit into this narrow hole in her current form. Chen heaved a sigh of relief and crawled for a while longer before he finally touched the edge. Stepping out of this strange hole in the wall, Chen stood up and looked around curiously.
On the wall opposite him, he noticed the huge number "B5". It turned out that the hole in the wall in room B2 led to the staircase in building B5. The warped world was indeed bizarre.
The ghost named Emily seemed to have been temporarily left behind on the B2 floor. Rather than being a coincidence, Chen felt that this was deliberately arranged by history. During this period, it was an opportunity for him to continue searching for clues and solve the supernatural event.
Feeling that he was beginning to master the rules of the story, Chen stood up, shook off the dust on his body, and found that there was a doorway with light in the deep corridor in front of him.
There was no doubt that this was another clue.
Based on what just happened, it's likely that danger will come if the prompt is triggered. But if we resist and do not trigger the prompt, can we avoid the female ghost?
It won't be that easy.
A qualified horror story would not have such obvious loopholes. Chen's mind was more willing to believe that at some point, the terrifying ghost in the story would be "refreshed," and the whole room would be under the control of the supernatural force.
Where could he escape?
Finally, Chen arrived at the door with a bright light shining through it, and as he was about to put his ear to it, he suddenly noticed that there was a peephole in the middle of the door.
