Starred Up

Deen, a seven year old boy, arrives in Korea with his mother Mia. With a strong determination to raise her son properly, Mia ensures Deen lacks no love in his life. In her spare time, Mia is a huge fangirl of the Korean boy group, TNT. But in an unexpected twist of fate, the mother-son duo end up being the neighbors of D3, another legendary boy group, which happens to be TNT's biggest rival. D3 consists of the short tempered Taewon, gentle Joon Jae and the goofy Jan. On top of that, Mia is hired as the personal designer for TNT, which consists of the charismatic leader Soo-Yon and the playboy maknae Cheng. Despite the rocky start, Mia and her son grow closer to all the members of both the groups. With time, the members realize they have fallen in love with the same woman, disrupting each group's dynamics. Furthermore, the origins of the hostility between the two groups resurface, making everyone involved question the decision they made a decade ago. As secrets unfold, the members vie for Mia's affections, Deen observes that she has eyes only for one of them. But which one of them will she choose? Taewon-Grownups are Weird

'Here you go,' I said as I laid the bowl on the table. Deen sprang off the table and disappeared into the kitchen.

'Where are you going?' I asked.

He returned with three more bowls and two spoons.

'Ahjusshi, you have some too,' he said, offering me a bowl. 'And this is for Mona,' he said as he set the other bowl on the floor. Mona wagged her tail in excitement.

'I'm not hungry,' I said. 'Give it to Mona.'

'Don't say no to free food,' the kid said sternly. 'Don't be shy. You made it after all.'

What a cheeky kid. I poured the soup in the bowls. Mona immediately began to slurp her soup. We took a sip of the soup. As soon as the kid drank the first sip, his eyes widened.

'What happened?' I asked. 'Does it taste weird?'

'Ahjusshi,' he whispered. 'This...this...'

I waited for him to finish.

'THIS IS THE TASTIEST SOUP I HAVE EVER HAD!' he exclaimed loudly.

'Quiet down,' I shushed him.

'Sorry,' he said. 'Couldn't hold my excitement. Ahjusshi, this soup is amazing!'

He happily took more sips. 'This is better than those restaurants!' he exclaimed.

'I am known for my culinary skills,' I said proudly.

'Really? I thought you were more known for your short temper,' the kid said, surprised.

I gave him a look. The kid coiled under my gaze and kept on drinking the soup.

'Ahjusshi,' he said after a while.

'Hm?' I asked.

'Why did you choose to be an idol?' he asked. 'It sounds like an awful life.'

I thought about it for a while. 'It's the only thing I am good at,' I confessed. 'Singing and dancing. I can't imagine being anything else.'

'Even though you can't do what you want?'

'Kid, these are heavy stuff,' I said. 'You are too young to understand it. Someday, when you'll be older and if I'm still around, I'll tell you.'

'Grown ups are weird,' he muttered.
