Chapter 27: Training With Holo-Granny

Standing on one of the temples training room I held Nomi's holocron in my left hand.

The week Dooku instructed me to take off after our mission to the Seswenna Sector has come and gone.

Which I actually used to rest, recuperate, and go over the details of the mission on a personal level.

For working too hard and burning myself will do one any good.

Thus I played.

But now that is over and it's time to get back to the grind.

Hence why I have Nomi's holocron.

Dooku unlocked it and then gave it to me, instructing me to learn from it while he attended to some other matters.

Of course I tried to ask him what those other matters were, since I needed to know if they might involve Sidious and Plageius, but every time I did my master shut me down.

So eventually I stopped asking him and now here I am.

Walking over to the center of the room I placed Nomi's holocron on the floor.

I then stepped back a foot and the holocron came to life. Projecting the hologram of Nomi Sunrider.

Or as I have decided to call her, Nomicron.

For she is Nomi Sunrider but also a holocron.

"Hello again Van." Hologram Nomi spoke to me.

"Hey Nomicron." I replied.

Seeing her brow twitch as I did.

"Sorry, what was that Van, I think I misheard you just now?" Hologram Nomi asked.

"No, you didn't mishear me. I called you Nomicron. Since you are Nomi Sunrider yet also a holocron." I explained. "Something wrong with the nickname I gave you? Perhaps you would like to be called grandma instead or maybe granny?" I asked. A smirk on my face.

Since technically she is my many times great grandmother, if only a copy of her consciousness on a mystical storage device.

Boy, never thought I would be saying that.

Hologram Nomi's brow twitched again at my words. "Cheeky brat. I see you inherited more than just the Sunrider name." She said.

"Why thank you." I replied. "So anyway, how about we get down to som training?"

"Yes. I assumed that was the reason I was here again. So, what do you wish to learn?" She asked.

Music to my ears.

"I want to learn all of the things you could do when you were alive. Battle Meditation, Battlewill, etc. But most of all I want to learn how you were able to sever-"

"-That technique is restricted until someone has reached the rank of Jedi master, and even then they will only be allowed to learn it if I deem them worthy. Which in all this time I have not." Hologram Nomi suddenly spoke, interrupting me.

Giving me a deadly serious look.

"Right. Sorry. I truly meant no disrespect." I said. Being serious.

Since the reaction Nomi just had to me asking her to teach me how to sever a person's connection to the Force told me everything I needed to know.

Even I know when to take a hint.

"I know you didn't Van it's just...that technique is something I have questioned learning. Even if I did use it the one and only time to..." She trailed off.

Hologram Nomi got a far off look in her eyes and a cramped expression on her face. As if remembering something extremely painful.

Which thanks to my previous life memories I know exactly what it is.

The time she severed her lover, Ulic Qel-Droma connection to the Force. The one and only time she ever used the Force severing technique as far as I can remember.

Another minute passed before hologram Nomi focused on me again. "Oh sorry about that Van."

"It's fine. Truly. You have nothing to explain to me. Anyway just forget I asked about that technique. Instead I would like to focus on Battlewill and Battle Meditation." I spoke.

For I want to become a Battle Meditation practioner on the level of Nomi when she was alive. I mean her skill with the Force power was so great she could compel her enemies to kill each other.

An amazing skill, and since I have her blood flowing through my veins then I have the same potential to reach such a level of skill.

So the sooner I start the better in my book.

"Ok." Hologram Nomi replied. "Today we will focus on Battlewill or Battlemind as it is formally known. Though due take note Van given your current age, and understanding and connection to the Force you likely won't be able to pick this up quickly. It's nothing against you, but there is a reason Force-sensitive's are usually only taught certain Force powers once they reach a certain age. Their body needs to be able to handle and endure the strain of the technique they are attempting to learn and be capable of channeling enough of the Force to use them in the first place." She explained.

"Oh believe me I know that very well." I said.

They went over that heavily when I was in the academy.

Not to mention I remember what happened to Dorsk 81 from Luke Skywalker New Jedi Order when he channeled too much of the Force. Even if it was fo save the lives of his fellow students and friends.

"Alright then, just checking. Now, let us begin." Hologram Nomi spoke.

She then began instructing me in the Force power Battlemind.

--------------------------

Seven of the order's training droids surrounding me I held my lightsaber firmly in my right hand.

The intensity turned down a bit.

Hologram Nomi looking at me and watching my every movement.

For she is training me right now.

Two weeks have passed since she has, for Dooku is still busy doing "other things".

So it's just been me and Nomicron.

Who, to my not total surprise, is an excellent teacher.

She is helping me to understand Battlemind, and is even instructing me in lightsaber combat.

Like right now.

Nomicron is teaching me Form VI: Niman.

For that was the style she favored when she was alive.

Though given what I know about her that makes perfect sense.

One of the training droids lunged at me.

When they did I raised my free hand and sent them backwards using a burst of telekinesis.

But as soon as I did do the others charged at me, training lightsabers in their hands at the ready.

Seeing this I empowered my body with the Force and leapt at the nearest training droid, slicing towards their torso.

My blade landed a direct hit and the training droid deactivated and fell on the ground. For landing a critical blow on them is similar to doing so on an opponent in real life.

Which these training droids are mimicking.

That's why the droid I just hit deactivated. For if it was a real person they would be dead by now.

Sensing two training droids swinging down their blades at my back I let the Force guide me and placed my lightsaber behind my back.

Keeping the two droids blades from hitting me.

Though I had no time to relax.

For the second after I blocked the attacks of the two training droids behind me the other three surrounded me and rushed forward.

Seeing this I sent out a small Force wave which blasted back all the training droids.

Once this happened I went for the nearest droid and slashed its head.

Taking another enemy out of the fight.

Seeing another of their comrades fall two of the training droids came at me and started engaging me in saber combat.

Blocking and partying their slashes I made sure not to get tunnel vision and kept an eye on the remains three training droids using the Force.

Blocking another slash from the training droids on my right I saw an opening and went for it.

I stepped forward and slashed upward, getting the droid in the chest.

Then before his allies could react I swung my blade to the right.

Hitting the other training droid at is torso.

Both went down.

Leaving only three.

Looking at them I rushed forward with a burst of speed thanks to telekinesis. Getting within their strike zone.

Seeing this they tried to attack me.

Only for me to swing my blade in a wide arc, hitting them all along their necks.

Thus the last three training droids fell.

Deactivating my lightsaber I turned towards Nomi. "So, how did I do?"

"It was adequate." Nomicron said. "Though you still have much work to do."

"Yes, I know." I replied.

Though I don't really care.

For I am a man on a mission.
