Chapter 29 – Sparring dual

After the lesson ended, Layan and Lyn headed toward the field crop to see the situation of the newly planted seeds.

Plants and trees of all kinds have grown, with a total effective of 200 force users, it was an easy feat. Everything was here, even Layan favorites fruits like corellian apples or cacao tree.

"Look at this, Plant Surge may be simple to use, but I find it to be one of the most beautiful ability there is, it can bring back life to an almost dead world, even though I don't know how to achieve similar results on Tatooine."

"Yes, the force is really amazing. Can it do anything?"

Lyn started to be curious as she thought about master Ood, which survived during thousands of years on a dead world.

"I don't know but using the force, some can do things that most qualify as impossible or unthinkable. Some even become crazy or fell to the dark side while searching a way to use the force to accomplish their dearest wishes like becoming immortal or even bring dead's back to life."

Lyn was surprised by his statement, but her knowledge of the force was extremely limited and she was surprised almost every time he talked about force abilities.

"Did they succeed?"

"Yes. No. Hard to say."

Lyn didn't consider this as an answer but seeing as Layan was thoughtful, she didn't pursue and watched as the landscaping droids were taking care of the newly grown trees and vegetables.

Layan was lost in thought while thinking to this simple question posed by Lyn. He knew about Nihilus, Vitiate and other Siths which powers would frighten even the most courageous man. Sometimes he thought about the sum of knowledge lost through the centuries, in comparison of their counterparts of the past, Jedis and Siths were now extremely weak.

If he could find a way to retrieve this knowledge, he would become an overlord in the current times, but he doubted he could apply this knowledge as Nihilus existence was said to be a wound in the force itself as his hunger could engulf worlds. This prowess would be difficult to realize.

"Let's go, I have to program the training droid, add the fighting forms and download data of jedis master from the holonet to further improve its skill set. Only then would it be ready."

While saying that, Layan picked an apple and bite in it before heading back to the Phoenix and resumed his interrupted work.

Finding images of Jedis fighting in the holonet was how to say it. Extremely easy, Jedis may not be popular in the opinion of a large number but their fans were just as numerous, a proof of that being the huge number of collectors specialized in Jedis items and history.

He was alone in the main hold with the droids when he finally set it on. The droid raised and sat on the table before looking around.

"Follow me."

The droid did so without speaking as Layan didn't bother to install a voice modulator that already wasn't present on the MagnaGuards. Followed by the newly built droid, he stepped into the training room he asked Drake to create.

Inside, it was empty except for the MagnaGuard left who was standing beside the wall in front of the door.

Taking out a lightsaber he asked of Ood when he was watching Vima training the Ysannas, he handed it to the droid.

"Load Master Jedi Shaak Ti fighting profile. Time to see if you're a piece of art or just a piece of scrap."

The droid appearance changed as a perfectly lifelike hologram of Shaak Ti was now standing in front of Layan. It gave Layan a chill to see Shaak Ti like this, as he never saw her without this sickly gray skin tone. Her vivid red skin and beautiful stripped lekkus were making of her a really beautiful Togruta.

Taking out his lightsaber, he lit the sliver frost blade and ordered the droid to begin the sparring duel.

"Duel start."

When he said that, the droid pressed the activator and a blue blade appeared out of the old lightsaber.

The droid started with the opening stance Layan knew perfectly, the Form II Makashi opening stance. Makashi and Ataru were Shaak Ti favorite combat's form, she was said to be the only one able to compare to Count Dooku when using form II be it in terms of ability or grace. Nonetheless, the old count stays the best in this fighting form.

The opening form was simple, single-handed low guard, with the blade angled downward at the practitioner's side. As Layan used only a single blade, he used his preferred style, Form V.

This way the dual started, Layan was leading the offensive with a barrage of attack, while the droid was blocking everything using Makashi and slowly stepping back with an elegant footwork which was the signature of form II.

Blades clashed and created buzzing sounds in the room. He continued with a series of two-handed overhead chops, using his height to bring his blade hacking down. The droid parried but under the momentum of the crushing blows, the droid lost his balance and its guard started to crumble.

The droid used a basic defense of lightsaber combat which was to redirect blows instead of simply blocking them and losing his fighting rhythm, but he couldn't get out of his defensive position. Finally, they become entangled as the droid was now blocking Layan blade, but Layan used a knee kick to send the droid colliding against the wall.

"Now, attack me."

The droid rise from the ground and started a barrage of lightsaber blows using the fourth form, Ataru. Layan had no problems blocking this assault, which was lacking speed.

Layan was a bit disappointed as the droid wasn't fast enough, which totally ruined the use of Ataru, without speed it was just flashy moves, the goal is to overwhelm the opponent defenses.

Layan had no problem to use an opening made possible because of the droid lack of speed to launch a sweeping blow at the sides of the droid which stopped fighting when he saw he was touched.

"Let's head back. I'll have to make several modifications and maybe change your processor. Your fighting style was too much textbook and linear. I want to you to imitate their fighting style and adapt to the situation."

They headed back where they came from, and Layan used a few hours to make the last adjustments to the droid. He knew it would be difficult to create a droid able to fight at the same level as a member of the Jedi council, but the droid as to be good enough to serve as a training material, otherwise it was useless.

After giving a final touch to the droid, he headed to the holo terminal of the ship to see the findings of the probe droids scattered over the planet and moon of Ossus. The probe droids found battleship cruisers all over the planet, droids, natural resources which could be mined in the future and even more ruins of the past.

As for those spread on Nerit, one of the moons, they bore no results but their searches weren't over as it was only a few days since their task began. It was the same for those on Ossus, much was still to discover.

"Master, time to eat."

Lyn came behind while he was looking at the footage of the probe droids to inform him of the time once again. It was the second time of the day and she started to believe his words when his said that her training would be exhausting when she saw him lose the sense of time when he was focused on something."

"Yes, let's. Time to inaugurate the construction of the first building of the settlement."

Tonight, they were eating all together to celebrate the completion of the first building. It was a large building that will serve as a communal building in the future and its basement would serve as a future warehouse for the newly established community. On the roof will be placed the future emitter of the energy shield and cloaking device to protect them.

The future layout was organizing all the futures Ysannas houses around it and would be fast to build as they didn't need palaces as they were used to living in tents.

At the northernmost point of the settlement would be building a large and majestic temple which will serve as the future headquarter of the new order.

Later on, they would need to build hangars to house the Siths fighters and droids he found during his small touring of the planet.

They would also build a giant building in a glass dome shape which will house the future fields crops as letting a cultivated field out of the reach of the cloaking device would be a problem.

This community has to become totally independent, and Ood and Layan were devising a beautiful city to reach this goal. Later, this city would be magnificent with greenery and beautiful water fountains, a natural city a bit like Theed on Naboo but even more beautiful.

After a small walk they arrived at the new building high of almost 20 meters, it was built in the same style as the old library of Ossus as Ood draw almost every building. It was a squat square building with walls going up like stairways and an imposing entrance in an archway.

It was made of orange stones recuperated in the ruins and polished. Building it was fast with heavy lifting droids and 200 force users, and they didn't have to extract the stones and cut only a few as the schematics look like the old buildings of the planet.

"Here you come. Let's celebrate to the new building and first harvest!"

Roc and the others were waiting for him, fruits, vegetables and a bit of meat was disposed on the tables. Using Plant Surge, everything grown fast and was already harvested and the seeds inside will be sown tomorrow to expand the food production.

For the Ysannas, which previously only known deprivation and starvation because of the lack of water and resources, this day was really marvelous as they could finally fill their bellies.

They sat at the table and enjoyed the mood with the Ysannas.
