The Aftermath

Back in the bunker the Ghost held his wife's hand as doctors checked him over. He had a few broken ribs, he'd dislocated his left arm, and been bruised and scarred all over his torso. After having his left arm reset, the Ghost and his wife walked into the cafeteria where he received a standing ovation. Holding his wife's hand, he held his right hand in the air, his people all cheering loudly for him as he marched to the command center.

"Commander Ghost and First Lady, the Prince is waiting in the command center."

The Ghost nods as he walks inside.

The Prince smile fades as he sees the look on the Ghost's face as he stares into the soul of the Prince.

"Why were we not warned about them?" asked the Ghost, his tone sharp like a knife. "We didn't know anything about them."

The Ghost sits in his chair, he chuckled at the comment, also laughing psychotically at the Prince's words. "Then what the official summons for me?"

The Prince and his court scrambled for an answer, when one spoke.

"We don't want to hurt you Commander Ghost, it's just that..."

"Hurt me? No, my own mother hurt me, my father stood by and watched, hell even participated at times. but you?" He stood up looming over them his laughing had turned to a cold glare." Hurt me. You will NEVER HURT ME AGAIN!" His eyes were crimson red as he stared into the eyes of the Prince, standing over him.

The Ghost's eyes were bleeding, and for the first time, their allies saw the demon that was protecting the man standing in front of them. "What's the matter little Prince, never seen a real demon before?" The power flickered as the Prince and his court coward in fear. The True Ghost of Ottawa stepped at them, echoes of painful memories surrounded the Ghost as he laughed. "Believe me, none of you in this room, could hurt him, hurt us, but please do try." The Ghost grinned at the Prince, who fell over in fear for his own life.

Once the lights stabilized, The Ghost loomed over him. "If you ever put me, my wife, my people in harm's way like that again, you will answer to me with your pathetic life. His gaze could've killed an army, the Prince nodded as he fell to his knees. "Now get the fuck out of my bunker." The Prince and his court scrambled out of the room, rushing to their horses and left.

The Ghost and his team laughed.

"Good call on fake blood and the flickering lights Ghost, you had even me spooked." said Daniel

The Ghost smiled and went outside staring in the direction the Prince had fled. Once he was alone, he spoke.

"Us?"

"I thought it had a nice touch."

"They believe it was all special effects."

"Good, then I'll continue watching over you from the shadows, no need to expose us yet."

"You really are the worst."

"I've protected you even when those you cared about turned on you, remember, you summoned me in the Army my friend, you said and I quote, "I need someone stronger, more ruthless than I to get done the things I need done." Don't think I'm letting you go that easily."

"Yes, only at the cost of my sanity right?"

"You mean our sanity."

The Ghost shook his head and went back inside.

*Our strength comes from pain, and my human friend, you have plenty to fuel our strength.*

*Don't think for a second that you can overcome my will, my unbreakable will is the bane of our co-existence. You feed on my pain, and I feed on your anger.*

For a while they spoke mentally, but once the sun had set, the demon was gone, just like a special effect.
