Snake Eyes and Black Widow

This is a story of Snake Eyes (GI-Joe) being a operative in the fantastic world of the MCU. Of course, as this is introducing a character from an entirely different universe this story will be an AU. Without further ado, please take a dive through the eyes of Snake. Disclaimer all rights and permissions stay with the original writers and creators. This fan-fic is just to take a spin on what it would be like to have one of my favorite characters in the MCU.

Chapter 38: Uncertain Horizons

The helicopter blades cut through the crisp morning air as Natasha sat in the dimly lit cabin, her mind racing despite the calm that had settled around her. The facility, the heart of the Overseer's remnants, was nothing more than a pile of rubble now, and the critical data they had recovered was secure. They had done what needed to be done, but Natasha knew all too well that the momentary victory wasn't a guarantee of lasting peace.

Snake Eyes sat across from her, silent as always, his eyes scanning the horizon. He was as composed as ever, but Natasha could sense the same tension in him that she felt within herself. Their work together was never truly finished, and with every battle they fought, it seemed like another threat rose up in the shadows.

Natasha leaned back against the cool metal of the helicopter wall, her eyes narrowing as she considered their next move. The data they had retrieved from the facility was vital—encrypted communications, lists of assets, and plans for enhanced soldier deployment—but the more she thought about it, the more she realized that they were still missing something. Whoever was pulling the strings behind the scenes was still out there, and until they were brought down, the danger wasn't over.

Her comms crackled to life again, pulling her out of her thoughts. Fury's voice was firm, but there was a hint of relief behind his usual gruff tone.

"Good work, Romanoff. We've received the data. The analysts are already working on cracking it, but I don't think we'll like what we find."

Natasha's expression remained unreadable as she replied, "I didn't expect this to be the end of it. Whoever's behind this has been playing a long game."

"Exactly," Fury said, his voice taking on a more serious edge. "I don't want anyone getting too comfortable. This isn't over."

The helicopter banked left, beginning its approach to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, and Natasha's thoughts shifted to the next steps. As the base came into view below, she glanced at Snake Eyes, whose gaze was still fixed on the horizon. His ability to remain calm in the face of danger had always impressed her, but even now, she could sense a subtle shift in his posture—a readiness for whatever came next.

As the helicopter touched down, Natasha and Snake Eyes exited the aircraft in silence, the cool morning breeze ruffling their tactical gear as they moved toward the briefing room. The base was already bustling with activity, agents moving about with purpose, preparing for whatever was on the horizon.

Inside the command center, screens displayed various satellite images and live feeds from S.H.I.E.L.D. operations around the globe. Fury stood at the head of the room, his attention focused on one of the analysts who was deciphering the data they had retrieved. Natasha approached the central console, Snake Eyes following closely behind.

"Romanoff," Fury said, not looking up as she entered the room. "Take a look at this."

The analyst stepped aside, allowing Natasha to get a better view of the screen. Lines of code streamed across the monitor as the encryption slowly unraveled, revealing fragmented communications between shadowy figures and unknown entities. It was still incomplete, but even from the glimpses she saw, it was clear that this wasn't just about rebuilding the Overseer's network.

Natasha's eyes narrowed as she scanned the decoded text. "What is this?"

"We're still piecing it together," the analyst said, typing furiously to bring up more of the decrypted data. "But it looks like these aren't just remnants of the Overseer's operation. They've got ties to several underground groups across Europe and Asia, and they're all funneling resources into something bigger."

Fury folded his arms, his expression darkening. "It's a power grab. Different players, same game."

Snake Eyes stepped forward, his eyes fixed on a particular section of the screen. He pointed to a series of coordinates—locations that were clearly marked but had yet to be identified. Natasha glanced at him, her mind immediately working to connect the dots.

"You think these are targets?" she asked, knowing full well that Snake Eyes had a keen eye for spotting patterns others missed.

Snake Eyes didn't answer verbally—he simply gave a curt nod. Natasha turned to the analyst. "Run those coordinates through our database. Cross-reference them with any known locations we've been tracking."

The analyst nodded, his fingers moving swiftly across the keyboard. Within moments, several images flashed across the screen, displaying satellite views of isolated locations, seemingly innocuous at first glance. But Natasha's trained eye knew better—these places were far from ordinary.

Fury's gaze remained fixed on the screen. "Looks like we've got new players in the field. Someone's consolidating power fast, and they're setting up shop in some pretty remote areas."

Natasha's mind raced as she processed the implications. The facility they had just destroyed was only a small piece of a much larger puzzle. These new sites could be the key to uncovering the mastermind behind the rapid resurgence of the Overseer's technology.

"We need to move on these," Natasha said firmly. "If we let them settle in, it'll be impossible to root them out."

Fury nodded, his expression grim. "Agreed. But we can't go in blind. We'll need more intel before we make a move."

Snake Eyes stepped forward again, tapping a location on the screen that had caught his attention. It was the most remote of the coordinates, a mountainous region with minimal satellite coverage. Natasha followed his gaze, her instincts telling her that whatever was happening there was critical.

"That's where we start," Natasha said, her voice steady. "We'll gather intel, see who's operating there, and take them out before they can consolidate."

Fury gave a nod of approval. "I'll pull together a team. You two will lead the op."

As the team prepared for the next mission, Natasha felt the familiar surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins. They had dealt a major blow to the enemy, but this new threat was growing faster than they anticipated. Whoever was behind these operations had deep resources and wasn't afraid to strike hard and fast.

Snake Eyes stood beside her, his silent presence grounding her. She knew he was as ready as she was for whatever was coming next. They had fought side by side through countless missions, and this one would be no different.

"Get some rest while you can," Fury said as he turned to leave. "You'll be wheels up in a few hours."

Natasha nodded, though she knew rest wouldn't come easily. Her mind was already working through the variables of the upcoming mission. There were still too many unanswered questions, too many unknowns.

As she and Snake Eyes left the briefing room, she glanced at him, knowing that he, too, was preparing for what lay ahead. His silence didn't need to be filled with words—there was a mutual understanding between them, built on years of trust.

"We'll figure this out," Natasha said quietly as they walked down the corridor. "We always do."

Snake Eyes gave a small nod, his gaze focused straight ahead. Together, they would confront whatever new threat awaited them in the shadows.
