Sin of Sloth

I became the Sin of Sloth from an apocalyptic dark fantasy game. Whatever, I guess I'll just sleep on it.

3 Hours a Day

[The skill, Strong Will, has been acquired!]

[Due to consumption, the skill, Absorption, has been activated. ]

[Absorption has been activated successfully] [Strong Will has been increased to SS!]

"Neat," I said, satisfied. But then, something surprising happened.

[Due to having the talent, Composure, and the skill, Strong Will, the relating skill has been generated, Steel Soul.]

"Hm. You couldn't combine skills, or talents which didn't even exist in the game. Then again... this isn't a game anymore," I mumbled.

"I'll check it out later," I decided.

[You have used the skill,-]

I swatted the screen away in irritation. I then turned my attention to my skills. With baited breath, I looked at my curse.

[Curse of Sloth-SSS

Description: Woe to the Slothful One, Sleeping in Life, and Sleeping in Death. The inability to even enjoy their own immortality.

Effect: Puts the cursed under the Sleep Status Effect.

-50 to All Stats (-100)

Mobility is heavily reduced, -25 Agi (-50)

Fatigue is heavily increased, -25 Sta (-50)

Durability is heavily reduced, -25 End (-50)

Vigor is heavily reduced, -25 Str (-50)

Reflexes are slightly reduced, -5 Dex (-10)

Time Until Curse Activates: 2:59:21]

"Yes!" I cheered out.

I could feel energy returning to me, all my body related stats increased by seventy-five. It was due to the effects of the curse being reduced by fifty percent.

(A/N: The numbers you see besides -25, -10, and -100 in () are the original values. I won't add them there again, it's just to show you for the first time. Sorry.)

I jumped off the bed, using my recovered stats to the fullest. I twisted and stretched, the popping of joints and cracking of my bones echoing out excessively inside the room that was fit for a king.

Relief, and satisfaction. After lying still for however many years, my limbs were finally moving.

'Holy shit! I've never felt this good in my life!' I thought to myself.

'But... now I need to think of how to level up as efficiently as possible, and what classes and sub-classes I should chose?' I couldn't celebrate too soon, I was still a demon after all. One destined to die in ten years at that.

In this game, you could have as many sub-classes as you wanted. But that wasn't recommended, as experience got split between all classes!

You have your standard level, then your main class level, and then the sub-class level. You already have your experience split into thirds just by having all those!

But at this moment, I didn't even have a class. I was as pure as a baby. Even villagers by the time they're five years old, have the farmer class!

It was the perfect opportunity to just focus on improving one thing, my stats. I had a perfect bus for that too.

"GUARDS!" My two loyal followers entered the room and knelt before me with a greeting.

"Prepare a carriage."

""?!"" They looked at me in bewilderment, already shocked that I was standing, let alone going out. But as expected of my personal bodyguards, they quickly recovered from their confoundedness and got to work.

Sitting on the comfy seats, I told my guards where to go and what supplies to bring. It felt good to have subservient subordinates that did all the work for me.

Also, another perk of having these skills was that on command, I could shut off my brain. Activating Hibernate, I went to sleep soundly.

...

The dungeon I told my guards to tell the coachman to drive to, was a level 3 dungeon. My current stats could easily beat this level of dungeon. While I could've had my guards take me to a level 200 or something dungeon, I wanted to play it safe.

If they somehow got distracted, or they separated from me for whatever reason, I'd die in a heartbeat. Even with OP skills such as Procrastinate and I'll Do It Tomorrow, I just wasn't comfortable with that.

I also learned an interesting thing, if I sleep, the curse activation timer goes up by however long I slept, to a max of three hours. I could use this to my advantage to stay awake longer. Because if the curse activates, I sleep for a full day, no matter what.

Besides that, I learned of how many stat growth skills I have. It's five. FIVE!

When I learned of this, I just started cackling like a madman, my Composure couldn't stop me. I could just imagine my future.

I didn't care about the looks my guards sent me, fuck em! I was the Lord of Sloth baby!

Now, after looking at my stat growth skills, I learned of the best class I could possibly be.

It was a wizard, a summoner, or a necromancer. One of the three.

"... I need to sleep on this," I uttered to myself. There were still a few hours before we got there, I had a lot of time to think.

...

We made it. Standing in front of the gaping mouth of the cave, I gulped. It was a lot more... intimidating than I had remembered.

'Then again, now I'm looking at it up close and personal. Not through just some monitor's screen,' I comforted myself with the thought that only level 3 monsters resided in this dungeon.

"You," I pointed at Righty.

"Give me your sword," I commanded. Without a word, she knelt and gingerly presented me her sword with both hands, almost reverently.

I gripped the handle. As soon as she let go, the sword went down, and my body along with it.

""...""

"Do you... mayhaps have a lighter sword...?" I asked in a quiet, squeaky voice.

"Pfft-" Righty couldn't handle it, breaking out into a snort. Before it became full-blown laughter, she covered her mouth with her hands.

'This irreverent subordinate...!' I thought in embarrassment. I was too caught up in my delusions of grandeur, not realizing I wasn't that strong and couldn't meet the requirements of her sword.

"Oops, oops, huu... Mhmm," she let out a breath and cleared her throat.

"Sorry, sorry, My Lord," she apologized solemnly. Despite that, I couldn't help but think back to her laugh. It was... pleasant even if it was at my behalf.

"It's alright..." I muttered, and then looked to Lefty.

"Do you have a lighter sword? The lightest, preferably?"

"I do, My Lord," he said affirmatively.

"Bring it, please." Lefty walked back to the carriage, and pulled out a small, long, thin sword. It was a rapier.

He offered it in the same way as she, but this time I accepted it without much hassle. I swung the rapier around, the blade made a hiss as it went through the air.

Both sides of the blade were edged, but I knew it was not to be used to cut. Instead...

I thrusted the sword, this time it barely made any noise as it stabbed the air. I knew this could easily puncture my skin as I was now.

"Good," I nodded and smiled with praise for the sword.

"Um, any shields? Like a buckler?"

Lefty quickly went back and got me a buckler.

"Great, thank you," I told him. With this, I was finally prepared to enter the dungeon.

"Right, now let's go in, yeah?" I asked them.

I actually quite like this chapter. Righty and Lefty are going to be recurring characters, they are his personal guards after all.

They can't... guard him without being around him, you know?

Well, anyways, next chapter Sloth starts leveling in earnest! So be excited for that!

Also I couldn't think of a chapter name so... that's what you get.

Your's Truly,

Turtle
