Only the most pathetic fall to the bottom of the abyss, but every legend has crawled their way up from that very place. ... Damien is a death row prisoner. As he counts down his last days, to his surprise, he is bought by the Sigma company. The Sigma company brought Damien and a few others up from the brink of death, only to toss them down once again. Now Damien and his new less than agreeable companions must fight increasingly ghastly monsters for their freedom and immediate survival. After they clear labs by the skin of their teeth, the Sigma company gives them strange injections. To Damien’s shock, these injections gave them superpowers he could only dream of. This was his chance for freedom, for all of them to start anew. Only problem? There was more to these injections than any of them could imagine. Was this really a chance for freedom? Or was it a one-way ticket to Hell?
The giant in front of them fell to its knees after its heels and leg got cut up. Both the giant one as well as the other monsters were still in the middle of waking up, giving them a short respite.
In this time, Killian slashed at the giant once more, cutting into its thigh. It let out another roar and pressed its hands down on the ground, attempting to lift itself back up. Following his example, both Adonis and Zenos also attacked the giant's legs, as they wanted to quickly finish the monster with the short reprieve they had.
As for Damien, he hesitated for a split second before leaping onto the giant's back. Everyone else was a little startled, as the more natural reaction to such a massive creature was to back away.
Damien sucked in a cold breath before slamming his katana into the giant's neck. Practically immediately, he could feel the difference that his increased strength made. The only problem was that the giant's neck was definitely far tougher than normal.
Dark blood splattered out all over the place the moment he plunged his katana within, though he could tell that it hadn't gotten in too far. He held onto the handle with both hands and grit his teeth as he continued to push it further, attempting to sever its neck like it was just a normal monster.
This seemed to make the monster even more frantic, making it reach out with both hands towards its back. Both Killian and Zenos had backed away, avoiding the giant's hands, but Adonis was focusing too much on slashing the legs and didn't notice the hand rapidly approaching him.
And so, he was swatted like a fly.
With a clear crunch, the hand smashed against Adonis, shattering his suit pretty badly and slamming him into the wall. He coughed up a mouthful of blood before sliding down onto the ground.
From the way his entire body was shaking, it was fairly clear he took a pretty bad hit.
Both Zenos and Killian were frowning, as the situation didn't look the best as of now. After a second of hesitation, Zenos yelled out.
"Split! We have to fall back and use our guns!"
However, despite saying that, Damien did not back off in the slightest. He continued to strain his arms, causing more and more black blood to spill out as his katana slowly dug into the giant's flesh.
It attempted to reach out to him, but the monster didn't have the proper coordination and ended up missing him, only hitting itself in the back. There were definitely close calls though, as he had pulled up his feet and felt the wind from the giant's hand brush by.
As for the other monsters, they had woken up by now and were rushing towards them.
Zenos frowned hard when he saw this along with Damien who was still perched on the giant's back. He shouted out with distress.
"What are you doing? You should be falling back!"
Killian stared at what Damien was doing with a confused expression at first, but soon after a smile formed on his face. He unsheathed his katana and rushed towards the monsters, almost like he was suicidal. As for Zenos, he could already feel all the rest of his teammates were going to die right now due to their stupidity.
Killian rushed past the giant and went for one of the monsters at the far left. It was a reacher, giving him bad memories, but he wasn't going to go down so easily. As he got closer, the reacher leaped towards him, extending out its red spike. However, Killian was prepared for that.
He held his katana near his body, then let the red spike slam against the side of it, away from him. After that, he slid the katana up the red spike in one quick motion, slicing straight through the creature's shoulder, severing the arm off its body.
The reacher seemed to be at a loss after losing its arm, and Killian took advantage of that time to behead it in one swift motion.
A few pale-skins reached out afterwards, but he easily dodged out of the way before going further in the room to get away from them. There was a big smile on his face.
"Haha, this physical strength increase really is no joke!"
Zenos cursed under his breath. It seemed that the situation wasn't as bad as he thought it was, but he was still hesitating. He had one hand on the back of his sniper rifle, while his other hand was on the handle of his katana.
He was debating whether or not he should just start shooting now, or jump in with the katana. Though he didn't particularly care for the others, he also doubted he would be able to clear the labs by himself.
After a good bit of hesitation, he let out an exasperated sigh before rushing forth with his katana.
As for Damien, he was breathing heavily, but he was actually smirking. Although he wasn't able to fully pierce through the giant's neck, he had made quite the giant gash in the back of its neck, causing copious amounts of blood to spill out.
He was a little nervous initially, wondering if for whatever reason these creatures didn't need blood to live, but from the weakening of the giant's actions, that was thankfully wrong.
After a few moments, the giant collapsed onto the ground. Its hands were still weakly moving around, but it didn't look like it would continue to do so for much longer.
Damien yelled out while his suit and face were splattered with dark blood.
"It'll bleed out in a couple of seconds, the giant thing is dead!"
Zenos clicked his tongue.
"So is it safe to go past or not?"
Damien shrugged his shoulders before leaping off the giant's back.
"Dunno. Though it would help if you got rid of some of these monsters too."
Zenos narrowed his eyes.
"Don't act like this wasn't your fault in the first place!"
He stared at the giant for a few moments, checking to see that it had stopped moving completely, then rushed in with his katana as well. Though Zenos didn't say anything about it, he was actually fairly eager to test out his new strength.
That was why he ultimately decided to drop the sniper rifle and pick up the katana.
Killian had clearly gotten the hang of it already, already killing a few pale-skins and reachers by leading them around by the nose. As for Damien, he jumped off the giant's back and landed behind a few monsters. Taking advantage of how unprepared the monsters were, he was able to behead one for free before backing off. As for Zenos, he approached a reacher and a pale-skin. He approached apprehensively, then out of nowhere the reacher lunged towards him.
Zenos threw his body to the side to dodge the red spike and also swung his katana with both hands. With a slam, the katana ripped into the reacher's torso, and even split it in two. Though unfortunately, Zenos did a very rough strike, which made his katana get caught in the top half of the reacher.
The pale-skin used that opportunity to whip out its hand, slamming hard into Zenos' chest.
His eyes widened considerably as he was thrown backward. Zenos ended up letting go of his katana and slammed into the ground before rolling over a few times. He sucked in a pained breath.
"Fuck! Since when were those things so strong?"
Killian threw his head to the side, avoiding the swipe of a pale-skin, then brought up his katana to behead it.
"Well, we haven't gotten hit by one of them before, so it seems since forever."
Zenos held his chest with one hand and took in pained breaths. He was in no mood to retort, especially because he could see the pale-skin approaching him, and that was despite the fact his vision was blurry.
With a shaky hand, he patted the side of his leg searching for his snub-nosed shotgun, but kept fumbling about and missing the grip.
"Fuck... there's no way I die like this!"
