Chapter Seven

Bowdey was breathing heavy and sweating as his dad and the earth witch hovered over him. She had been chanting for over an hour and all that had come of it was him growing weaker. "It seems as though he has been bound to her." "What?! That's impossible. Half breeds can't create bonds.....can they?" Deacon exclaimed. The witch had tried to force herself inside his head to try and see if she could mentally break the hold that was on him. It was like a wall that had been put up, and something was just behind it. Whatever it was, was strong and unwilling to let her through. She didn't know what it was or if it had anything to do with why Makenna could suddenly hear and feel him. "I'm not sure; but I am sure of one thing. He's not changing, or turning."

"Can you break it or not witch?" Deacon spit. She glared at him. "I don't know if it's really a bond or not, but even if it is.....It's not something I can break." From behind them, Bowdey suddenly sat up, steadying himself. "Dad....she may be right. There may not be any way to break it." Bowdey said slowly, his voice just above a whisper. "What exactly happened? What happened right before you were bound?" "Mmm..." Bowdey winced in pain and took a deep breath as he told of how he and Valen had been surrounded by the Silver Wolves and the events that ensued. When he finished, Bowdey hung his head groaning. Deacon held him up to his feet, looking at the witch and Sky.

"Where are you going now? You heard the earth witch." Sky started. "I know what she said. We are going to see some dogs." "You're going to the Silver Wolves? Deacon are you crazy?" Sky sighed. "No; but if an earth witch can't help me, then they are the only other one's that know anything about bonds. Maybe they can try something." Deacon helped Bowdey get in the backseat before climbing behind the wheel. They were dangerous and things were better when everyone stayed divided from them; but right then Deacon decided, waving a white flag was the best option. The Silver Wolves were known to be good at breaking anything a witch couldn't. Bowdey groaned, holding his head in his hands, as Deacon's fear began to rise. What if they couldn't help him? He loved both his son and his daughter; but he was especially close with Bowdey. Deacon's first wife, Bowdey's mother had always dreamed of having a big family; but right after having their son, she was kidnapped and killed by a half breed. From then on, Deacon made himself a promise. To kill every half breed he could find. Hunting had been in their family for generations; but after the loss of his wife, he decided to go on the offensive and hunt them down, making it a full time job.

They pulled to a stop in front of a huge three-story home. Bowdey had relaxed enough, the closer they got to the Silver Wolves, he was able to fall asleep and rest. Deacon took one of Bowdey's arms, wrapping his own arm around his son's waist. They made it to the front porch as the door opened suddenly. "What do you want "Hunter"?" The pack leader beamed. "Please. I need your help. You're the only one left I can think of that may be able to help." Tate eyed them cautiously. "I don't believe in the old saying, "keep your friends close; but your enemies closer"." Tate smiled evilly. "Tate please. The witches think he's been bound." With that, Tate's eyebrows hit his hairline, his smile instantly gone. "How is that even possible? I thought he was human? Who's he bound to?" "Makenna." Bowdey managed. Tate and Deacon looked at him, as Tate motioned for them to come inside. "Lie down on the couch." Deacon helped him, as members of the pack moved closer, surrounding them. "He's definitely been bound. I can feel it; but it's unusual. Usually a bond like this is made when they choose their mate such as wolves like us in a pack. Are you sure he's human?"

"I don't know what this is; but it's almost like it's a mates bond. That's unbreakable. Was his mother Lycan?" Tate asked slowly. "Lea's human. She's a Hunter." Sky spit. "His mother was human. She was killed by a half breed." Deacon said clenching his jaw tight. Tate sighed heavily and shook his head. "I'm sorry Deacon. I wish I could tell you something; but unless he's something other than human I don't know what to say or do. I will say Makenna didn't do this." Tate explained. "What? How do you know that for sure? He obviously didn't do it. He's human. He has to be." "I am just telling you that Makenna isn't a full vampire. A half breed isn't strong enough to form a bond like this. I don't think a half breed can form one at all honestly." "Then what do we do?" Deacon asked sadly. Tate looked down at Bowdey, who seemed a little stronger than before. He sat up, still holding his head in his hands; but seemed better.
