C17 Moving Out

Other than an impending civil war, I've gained enough system points for book creation. 500 SP gone and I can create any book that I've ever read. This will come in handy, but first I create a whole set of the Naruto manga for my leisure time. It's nice to bring a little piece of earth here. It makes me feel at home. Now, let's start making some school books, so I can study before enacting the school systems. I make one of every school book I've ever read, except history books because why would that matter here. Now I have things to study outside of my lessons. I'm also going to wait until I'm done sorting my memories to see if I've read any books that can be helpful towards my future kingdom building.

Mom and dad are leaving soon for the war, and I have to convince them to let me tag along. I know they may not like it, but if I'm going to be king one day, I should see this and learn from it. At least that's what I think. Making my way to dinner that night, I have a game plan to try and convince them. If it doesn't work, I guess I'll have Souei bring me there, and pretend I stowed away or something. As I enter the dining room, my mother and father are already there waiting for me.

"Sorry for making you wait." I say as I take a seat at the table.

"It's fine, sweetheart." My mother says.

"Yeah, don't worry about it kid." Dad says. The maids enter and serve us our food, and we all start eating.

"I want to come with you both to observe the war." I blurt out. It's best to rip the bandaid off quickly.

"No, that's not happening." My mother denies, but my father doesn't look like he's against it.

"Why do you want to observe the war? It's not going to be pretty like the books portray. War is violence and death. I've seen a man beat another man to death with his own helmet. Do you think you can handle that?" He asks.

"Yes, I can." I state resolutely.

"Wait, stop the both of you!" My mother screams and rises from her chair. "My baby is not going to war. Even if it's only to watch, that is not happening. You will stay in this palace, safe and protected." That shut my father up. I knew she would be the one I have to convince.

"Mom, I'm the Crowned Prince now. If I want to be a good king one day, I have to learn these things. I'm not saying to put me on the front lines, just let me come to watch, so when I inevitably have to go to war I have some experience." I explained. Now, that got her thinking. My father already seems convinced as well.

"You can come, but you don't leave my side. Since I'm the King, I usually won't join the battles anyway. Your mother may join though, she's a bit of a battle maniac when you get her going." He says and my mother flys across the table to smack him upside the head.

"I'm not a battle maniac! You keep your mouth shut, and don't taint my image in front of our child." She says.

"Good, I'll go and start packing my stuff. When are we leaving?" I ask.

"Wait a minute ..." my mother says. Only to be cut off.

"Tomorrow morning. Your mother will come to wake you, and we'll all leave together." He says. I leave the room before my mother could say anything else. When I return to my room Souei appears.

"Master, should I still enter the dungeon during the war?" He asks.

"No, since I'll be leaving the palace, you should guard me full time until this mess has ended." I say. I hear a screech behind me and see Nova. She seems to feel left out.

"Don't worry Nova you're coming too. I can't leave my familiar behind, now can I?" I rhetorically ask. She screeches and flaps her wings in happiness.

After packing all of my things, I go to sleep early that night. The next morning, my reluctant mother comes to wake me up. After getting ready, we all load up into a very fancy carriage. The carriage is escorted through the city by about five hundred royal guards. This is the first time I've been inside the city. I've been outside by the forest to summon Souei, but that's it. The city is actually very beautiful, and it reminds me of European medieval city's. With cobbled roads and half-timbered medieval buildings lining the street. It would be truly beautiful if the mood of the city was in higher spirits, but a coming war has terrified the populace.

When we left the city, I saw another extravagant carriage trailing behind ours. Father hasn't said anything, but I'm pretty sure some of the high ranked elders backing our family are coming as well. Outside the city awaits the Royal Army. 10,000 fighter cavalry, 10,000 Mage Cavalry, 10,000 mage infantry, and 20,000 fighter infantry. Mage cavalry is similar to mounted archers, but instead of using a bow and arrow, they shoot spells while on horseback. Mage infantry is the replacement of archers, they shoot magic from the backline as archers would. The bow and arrow is a fine weapon, but after a certain rank arrows are less effective in battle. Everything else is self-explanatory. This is the largest army in the kingdom. Nobles are allowed their own army's, but the size is regulated. The higher the noble rank, the bigger army you're allowed. Since this is the Royal army, no limit is placed on it.

We slowly make our way towards Duke Freemont's territory. That's where the revolting army is stationed at the moment. Father says that they will start marching in our direction soon. The whole trip is really slow because we can only go as fast as our slowest man. The infantry has to walk the entire way, so we have to move at a walkers pace. We could order them to run, but the mage infantry wouldn't be able to keep up, and what good would it do to tire your army before the battle. The enemy will march towards us anyway, so why not take things slow. The only problem is that slow is boring.

'Hey, Souei'

'Yes, Master' he replies.

'Make sure to keep track of all the plans the revolting army has, and cross-check them with our army's plans. Now that I'm involved, I would rather not die because the aerie made a mistake or something.' I order.

'Yes, Master. I'll keep a close eye on everything.' He says.

'Good, thanks.'

We traveled for two weeks, and arrive at the spot the battle would take place. Duke Freemont's territory is in the north of the kingdom farthest away from the coast. Since the duke wishes to attack, we are going to go on the defense. The revolting army has already left the Freemont territory a week and a half ago. The aerie has charted their path, and we've come up with a plan. The revolting army hasn't split, and they seem to want one big battle to decide the war. Well, that's going to be hard for them, because we plan to hold up in a fortress that they are headed to. If they wish to pass without our army attacking their backs, they have to win The fortress.
