Preparation to Leave

"I can't help much about the mutation." Rozan held an apologetic look in his face. In the first place, he was not a researcher or someone who had occupation related to that field. He was nothing more than a poor mechanic who lived simply in an ordinary house in this place.

"It's fine, the information you give is already more than enough."

At the very least, William knew that there were truly some changes that occurred to the survivors. Even though he didn't know what triggered the change or what aspect that could possibly grant them power, knowing the possibility alone made his blood boil in excitement.

He wanted to be among those people, but he knew that the chance was extremely low since there was barely any information they knew about the mutation.

"I'll show you the car first."

"Can I take a look around instead?" Gloria asked. She didn't feel like stepping out and roam around the area again.

Rozan nodded kindly. He smiled. "You can stay here and look around. There are not many things in my old residence, but you might be able to find something interesting."

Gloria smiled back. "Thank you, Uncle Rozan."

Uncle?

Hearing her method to call him, Rozan rubbed his short beard in satisfaction. Considering their difference in age, he liked this way to call him. After all, he was already in his forties while these three were still in their twenties.

William looked around and frowned. "There are a few Xermo roaming around."

"The hotel is not far from here, so there's still stray from time to time," Rozan added helplessly. He was certainly not a combatant and could barely use his gun to protect himself, which was why there were still some corpses around his house.

Yakov yawned. "You use gun?"

"Yes."

"And the people from the gang didn't come here?"

"If Xermo managed to reach here, it means that there are more outside. They'll be busy dealing and wouldn't realize that there's additional gunshot."

William nodded in agreement. He understood what Rozan was saying because this old man was making use of the fact that the gangs would also be busy to deal with the Xermo when he was making his move. That way, he would be able to blend in without the need to worry about them finding his whereabouts.

It was truly a smart move.

"The car is over here."

Rozan was leading them through narrow path before they stopped in a large garage. The garage's outer layer was filled with bumps as the result of some Xermo trying to break in. However, the strong structure prevented them from breaching inside.

Silently, Xermo took out a key and opened the large garage. It might be big, but the outer layer of the building looked dilapidated. There were also many rust on the metal part of the building, making it a bit unsightly to look at.

"I never thought there's a place like this in a rich residential area," William commented.

"This place is usually covered. There are a lot of trees outside."

"I see."

Yakov followed them from behind as they entered the garage. Upon entering, he was stunned speechless.

There were heaps of metal parts on two large mountains that was not properly taken care. At the same time, there was also some machines at the side of the room that he found unfamiliar. Most of the equipment didn't look in good condition anymore, but from the way they looked like, they still can be used.

In the middle of these items was a large camping bus. The camping bus looked well maintained even though there are some trace of rust on the outer layer. The white surface still looked smooth even with some additional parts that was added in.

"This?" William pointed to the camping bus and looked at Rozan.

Rozan smiled. "It's mine. I have been working on it for the past year with hope that I can use it to travel all around the world."

"I see."

"It's ugly."

Bletak!

William had no hesitation to hit Yakov when he heard the comment. "It's better than nothing. And with this size, I believe that we'll be able to take more people out, am I right, Old Man Rozan."

Rozan arched his eyebrows, but he still nodded. There were also bus and trucks, but they would not be strong enough to travel for a long distance. This kind of camping bus would be pretty good since there was also place where they could rest inside the car. Even a long journey wouldn't feel so bad since they could sleep inside.

With the size, even taking a few more other people wouldn't be so bad.

"Where do you want to go, Old Man?" Yakov asked while rubbing the back of his head. His best friend truly didn't hold back when hitting him.

"I only wish to get out of this place."

William nodded. He also wanted to get out of here as fast as possible. He pointed to the camping bus. "What kind of modification you wish to make here, Old Man Rozan?"
