Ch 12: Brother and Sister

Arc's mother sighed deeply. She had a flowy graceful presence.

"I think I told you to stop going outside to play in the dirt. You didn't listen and went out. Now you return with your dirty clothes. Who is going to wash them every day for you?" Her anger was really heightened today, like the weather outside.

Her long raven hair fell behind her elegantly like a waterfall. Strands of it were picked up by the wind. She and Melissa had the same hair color.

Her black dress flew with the wind. Her exposed skin was incredibly pale white and unblemished but her eyes were as intense as bright moonlight!

Nobody can realize that she is a mother of two children.

Seeing that Arc wasn't replying to her and just stood there, she became furious and her visage changed into that of a devil.

"You insolent brat! come here, I will teach you a lesson."

Ahena reprimanded coldly, abruptly unleashing her unhinged powers! She was no normal woman. She caught Arc who was running scared and bashed him to her heart's content.

Melissa looked at her brother who was in plight with pouty lips.

"Go mama, go" Melissa cheered.

Losing all strength to pick himself up after the beating, Arc stayed down with a fist bump on his head. Although his mother acts heavy-handedly, she can still control herself. Otherwise, he won't be lying down. But his mother is really different from the elves he heard about.

There are no other elves in this village. They are the only family that has elf family members in this village. They say elves are a calm and peaceful breed but there's nothing calm about his mother. She is completely wild. Her parenting style is also strict. She is more like a demonic elf.

"If you insist on being stubborn, don't blame me for being merciless." She left leaving these words behind.

Arc looked at Melissa and found the girl's face overflowing with enthusiasm.

"Melissa, my sweet little sister. What are you feeling so excited about?" Arc asked with a crying face. He wasn't crying for real. He just acted like that so he can garner some sympathy from Melissa. But Melissa didn't have an ounce of sympathy for him. Her expression said it all that she knows he is acting.

"So cold-hearted! can't you just console your elder brother a little? We are so close to each other all the time."

"It's your fault. You never listen. You always go away outside to play whenever you get the chance. I have to always play alone when you leave the house. I don't like to play alone." Melissa poured out her loneliness through the tears in her big eyes. Arc felt like someone ripped his heart into thousands of pieces when he saw Melissa crying. Even his mother's beatings didn't hurt as much as it hurts now in his chest. It was an unbelievable amount of pain. Arc quickly pulled Melissa into a tight hug.

He also had outbursts of brotherly love. He then wiped out the tears of his crying little sister, gently.

Their mother was folding some clothes in silence. She did not want to interrupt their loving moments at all. She started to feel a bit isolated but, well—on second thought, it's not like she couldn't understand their feelings.

It would be extremely difficult to suddenly change her image as the fierce mom into one that was loved by everyone. Maybe if they found out she was a softie like most mothers, such a change could be possible, but she would not be able to bear it if her kids ended up knowing her gentle side and begin acting spoiled instead which was unlikely to happen ever in her existence.

Boom! A loud thunder sounded, and the brother-sister pair got startled as they separated due to the sudden fearful roar of thunder.

Dark clouds started covering the entire sky and pressed down towards the ground. Vague thunder noises resonated in the sky as lightning flashed. It felt like lightning was ready to dash through the clouds and break the sky into pieces.

"Damn it!" Ahena looked at the bad weather as she sighed; she knew that a storm was approaching.

...

"It seems like there are no more problems...let's head out then"

"Ah, yes, please let's do so."

A group of sailors completed preparation for their sea voyage. They were prepared for spending a long time in the sea. They are going to work for a long time in the sea. Their main job is fishing but they also gather other things from the sea.

They set off, heading towards The Crystal Sea.

Boom! A loud thunder sounded. Everyone became shocked by the loud thunder strike.

"Good heaven! I got scared so much."

"It is really sudden. I hope the sky clears up quickly."

"...mm?" a few minutes later, after starting the journey they heard a loud thunder suddenly, again.

Noticing the strange timing of the thunder strikes, the members of the crew looked up in confusion. But one of the sailors realized that the man on his left was behaving weirdly. He was hiding underneath the stair to the basement of the boat. His behavior made him look like a guy who's done a mistake.

"...that's right. I forgot that your village was destroyed by a tsunami." the man thought he was very pitiful. He looked at the portside of the boat, his movements were natural and very carefree but then he saw it. He was shocked by what he saw.

Colossal wings, The wings are almost angel-like.

A rather menacing-looking appearance.

Savage ivory eyes, rounded skull, sharp teeth.

The creature is a symbol of evil calamity.

It is a Dragon.

"It's a Dragon"

"Raa!" It roared like a primal beast and released boundless purple fire. The dragon was destructive and oppressive in its behavior. It felt like it was threatening to break the sky above them.

"Boom!" The sky started shaking violently. Deafening blasts assaulted the listeners. Some of the weaker listeners dropped down on their knees.

It approached as boisterously as it could until it was close to the shore. When the dragon finally flew away above the ship, they got a clear look at its size. From a far distance it seemed small but little by little it began to seem frighteningly big in their eyes as it nears them, reminding viewers of how death could happen at any moment.

"Raa!"

Each time that sound rang out a sharp pain raced through somewhere in people's brains. Everywhere where its gaze landed, everyone felt their scalp tingling. Its vision alone seemed to have cut off a layer of skin from people's heads. It was commendable enough for the viewers who are still able to keep standing.

Many trembled in fear after sensing the dragon's wrath.
