Final Chapter - Serrina

“Well, well Serrina. Who could have thought you’d be so bold?”

The hair on Serrina’s arms rose at Dormer’s words. She griped onto the key’s tightly and turned around. What she feared most had happened, she’d been too late, and Dormer was awake. She stared at him with awe. It was impossible, how could a person drink three full bottles of wine and wake up before morning?

As if he had heard her thoughts, Dormer started talking again. “You truly think I’m so stupid? I’m impressed. But let me tell you one thing my dear consort, it takes so much more liquor for your king to have enough.” He talked as if the wine had not even affected him. His speech was perfect, his tone clear and levelheaded. As if he had simply taken a nap after being tipsy and was now conscious enough to even spar.

Serrina gasped in fear. This was not what she had expected. Luck was not on her side; it had never been.

The core of their plan had failed, Serrina had failed.
