8. Become His Personal Doctor?

"What?! P-personal doctor for Ryu Sandy?!" Rose was quite taken aback by Doctor Gyeon's words. "But... why should I? I still have to finish this last year of residency well."

"What about the other doctors?" Rose was still looking for other possibilities.

"Who are the other doctors? Since the beginning, the ones who participated in treating Ryu Sandy were me and you. There were also some orthopedic doctors who helped with the fractures after the surgery." Doctor Gyeon tried to explain. "And Ryu Sandy's illness was only discovered after the unfortunate incident."

"We were the only ones who treated his Glioblastoma from the beginning." He added. "You know, there are many other patients waiting for me? I can't double up as a personal doctor who has to focus on at least one patient."

Rose gave a powerful snort. "I'm still a resident! Then, do I have to postpone my proposal exam?"

"We've already discussed this. The director as well as me as your supervisor... spend your residency taking care of Ryu Sandy. Consider it part of your last residency year serving as his personal physician. I know your skills are above average. You're trusted with many things. And I assume, your efforts in taking care of Ryu Sandy will be invaluable. So, you should at least report his health progress to me, since he's my patient and I'm your supervisor."

"Think of it as you're still working and studying, just in a different place." He added leaving Rose with no choice. "But... you'll get an extra bonus from the Ryu family."

Rose thought she would be able to refuse Aunt Ryu's request with the excuse she had as a final year resident doctor. In fact, it was a weapon.

It was the excuses Rose was holding on to that opened up other possibilities.

Having been silent for some time between the breeze that waved intimately between Rose and Sandy, the woman now looked at her closely.

"I must reluctantly say, yes."

Aunt Ryu had really taken care of everything. Including asking Sandy not to stay in the hospital for too long. When things got better, outpatient care was now the new way forward.

Already, many paparazzi photos of Sandy had spread in the media. It made the family feel disturbed. It's as if there is no place of privacy for those who are affected by the disaster. It would also affect Sandy's mental health. After all, Rose had accepted Aunt Ryu's request at the encouragement of the head of the hospital and also the senior supervising doctor.

Sandy went through several treatment processes. First, treatment for all the injuries from the accident and also treatment for the glioblastoma that he suffered.

Fallen down, down the stairs. That's a saying that fits Sandy's life these days.

The sun was too hot for the early hour. Without this, Rose took Sandy to learn to walk on the jogging track. Sandy had to start by learning to put her feet on the ground, before she could actually get therapy walking in a special room. Rose deliberately provided a place outdoors, so that the brain of the man who liked to swear would be brighter and calmer.

"Come on, try standing up!" Rose placed both hands in front of Sandy. It made the man's forehead furrow.

"Why are you being so informal with me, just because I'm younger than you?" He asked flatly.

The woman gave a small chuckle. "Now it's my turn to ask. Why do you keep yelling at me, swearing at me, just because I don't have any privilege?"

Sandy was silent. Lost in thought as to what she was thinking. He just squinted as the wind came blowing.

Rose snorted rudely when she saw that the man didn't stand up immediately. "Ryu Sandy!"

"Do I have to keep linking up with you?" He asked without any meaningful facial expressions.

"Come on Sandy, I just want to help you get healthy again. If you get well, I won't touch you either. Never!" said Rose emphatically.

Health was too expensive. Sandy had to relent again, letting his hand join Rose's, until she managed to stand on the ground. Trying to take a few steps at a time. The doctor was still faithfully holding Sandy's hand tightly to prevent her from falling.

"Right, left. Slowly."

Sandy followed all of Rose's instructions even though she occasionally had to feel pain in his legs. However, Rose was understanding of the situation, resting the man in his wheelchair, then getting up again.

"Cheer up, Ryu Sandy!!!" Rose exclaimed as she led Sandy to walk again.

Instead of smiling at the encouraging words, Sandy kept cursing. "Noisy!"

Arghh...

Because of his lack of patience, Sandy almost fell to the ground. But Rose always gave her a hug. It was nothing. Just to support her giant body.

Until it created such a silent moment. The two pairs of eyes seemed to clash with each other. Rose felt herself so weak with Sandy's eyeballs so focused on her. The girl could only gulp her saliva roughly.

Without them knowing. There were pairs of eyes watching the two creatures with smiles on their faces. All this time, Aunt Ryu had never looked away from Sandy and Rose.

She was so happy and calm seeing Sandy who obeyed all Rose's instructions for her recovery. Even Rose who patiently handled Sandy with all her selfishness and rudeness.

Aunt Ryu took a deep breath as she folded her arms across her chest. "Looks like Rose can be more than a personal doctor."

"Woah. Really?" Hyojoo opened her mouth wide, right after Rose shared her very bad story during her handling of Ryu Sandy.

Rose took a sip of mineral water as she nodded her head. "I'm really going crazy. I have to be extra patient."

"But, patience has its limits, right?"

Rose nodded. "Uhmm... Anyway, doctors have to be nice. We're going to meet all kinds of characters of patients and their families. When my temper gets the better of me, I'll just call out, 'Hoi! Ryu Sandy!' "

Alexa was startled, then laughed. "Really? You called out. M-meaning yelling his name?!"

"Of course! He's so annoying. I'm sure you won't be able to either!"

"That's for sure. I have a temper. You're much more patient," Alexa said, "But, if a patient person like you is overflowing... isn't she going too far?"

Rose exhaled forcefully, "You can judge for yourself."

Alexa brought her face closer to Rose's. "But I won't approve of your relationship."

Rose pushed Alexa's face away from her. "Are you crazy?! I won't have anything to do with that crazy bastard."

Alexa chuckled at the treatment while rubbing her face that was pushed quite forcefully. "I mean, Jae is more than anything. That lunatic is incomparable."

"Why are you comparing to Jae anyway? I already told you. I'm not in contact..."

"Okay... okay... Hurry up and call your future husband, in case you need to hear his voice to calm down," Alexa overrode Rose's sentence.

With all consideration, Rose swiped her phone screen and searched for a name to call. But she was hesitant to press the green button that would connect the network between the two numbers.

Because Yook Hyun-Jae is an idealistic man. He would not prioritize his personal interests while on duty. The last time he contacted Rose was about five days ago. He was still handling earthquake victims there. Finally, Rose decided to send him a message instead.

To: My hero

Jae, how are you? I miss you.

"Why just a text message?" surprised Alexa as she stirred the straw in her melon juice puddle.

"He must be busy. I'm afraid of disturbing him. I'm not an overprotective woman either, you know?"

Alexa raised one eyebrow. Not wanting to say much, the two enjoyed their dinner together in the cafeteria.
