Revenge of the Resilient Girl for the 70s

As the sound of thunder heralded the beginning of spring, Summer experienced an unexpected revelation: she was a devoted supporting character in a male protagonist-focused retro novel. Throughout her life, she had made countless sacrifices for the male lead. When he needed love, she handed over her life-changing opportunities to the female lead he adored. When he needed a stable family, she provided her assets and married him. When he needed a career boost, she sold her family’s courtyard house and small restaurant, investing all her wealth into his startup. Even when his career flourished, she stayed home, taking care of his parents and raising the illegitimate child the female lead sent over. Summer: "??? This is beyond absurd. Whoever wants to be this pitiful supporting character can be, but it won’t be me!" Why should she waste her wealth and talents on someone else’s dreams?

Chapter 43

After Leonardo, Summer, and Logan left, only the volunteers were left by the river. Apart from Henry and Sophia, the other eight began to complain about the plot of land they were given.

The land was in such poor condition that it seemed impossible to cultivate anything.

For these city kids who had never farmed before, this allocation felt like a deliberate challenge.

Sophia's attention, however, was more on Henry than on the riverside plot. Noticing Henry staring off into the distance, she gently shook his hand, snapping him back to reality.

Seeing Sophia, Henry's gaze softened involuntarily. "What's up?"

Sophia looked at him with concern, her voice gentle and soothing. "If you're really upset, I can talk to Summer again. She's probably just temporarily infatuated."

Henry relaxed his tone, "No need, let her be."

Henry had never lowered himself for any woman, not even for someone as proud as Rachel.

Although Summer's current behavior, running after Logan, annoyed him, it wasn't enough to truly disturb his peace.

He had already said what he needed to say, and there was no point in repeating it.

He would just wait for Summer to see Logan's true colors and come to her senses on her own.

After talking with Sophia, Henry stopped thinking about Summer and Logan.

He joined Charlie and Gabe, complaining about the poor quality of the land they had been given.

Logan walked straight back to the school after leaving the river.

Naturally, Summer followed him back to the school.

Seeing Summer walking beside him, Logan turned and reminded her, "There's nothing left that we need to do together. You don't have to follow me everywhere."

Summer's clear eyes met his as she replied, "I'm not intentionally following you. I'm going to the office to prepare for tomorrow's class. It's my first time teaching, and I need to be well-prepared. Are you going to the office too?"

Logan held her gaze for a moment before looking away without responding further.

He didn't engage in more small talk and walked quickly. When he got back to the village office, he searched for the tools Leonardo mentioned and found a few useful ones to take back to the school.

Summer arrived at the school before Logan.

She entered the office, took out the first and second-grade math books, and began preparing.

The primary school curriculum consisted of six subjects: Language, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Political Thought, and Labor.

Due to the unique times, Political Thought and Labor were the most emphasized, followed by Language and Mathematics, with Music and Physical Education being less important.

Summer and Logan had already agreed on dividing these subjects evenly.

Summer would teach Mathematics, Physical Education, and Labor, while Logan would handle Language, Music, and Political Thought.

Summer couldn't handle the more artistic subjects, so she left them to Logan.

They had enrolled a total of sixty students.

Out of these sixty students, fifty-nine were first-graders, ranging from seven to ten years old, who had never attended school.

The remaining student, Billy, was older and had attended first grade before school was interrupted by the revolution. Now, he was continuing in the second grade.

As Summer was studying the first-grade math book, Logan returned.

She heard him come in but didn't look up, focusing on her work, reviewing the material she would teach the next day and planning her first lesson.

Logan didn't bother Summer either.

He sat at his desk, carefully working on the broken pendulum clock with the tools he had brought.

After about half an hour, Summer finished her preparations.

Stretching her arms, she glanced over and saw Logan deeply engrossed in fixing the clock.

With nothing else to do, Summer sat at her desk, watching Logan work with intense focus.

She didn't understand what he was doing but found his serious demeanor captivating.

Resting her chin on her desk, she watched him like she was watching a movie.

Logan, being highly perceptive, could feel Summer's gaze on him.
