CHAPTER 13

Cammy sat up straight as he stared at the tall figure that stood in the room. Nathan was Rachel's adopted brother and although she had seen and spent a lot of time with nhom in the past he was intimidated by him.

He had cold calculating eyes and it took her quite a while before she was able to open up to him. He was a man of few words but he helped Rachel help her when she had gotten pregnant and he had also been there for her when she had lost her daughter.

She was grateful towards him for that and for everything that he had done for her but even then she wasn't entirely a hundred percent certain about having him in her life.

He was an enigma of a man And even now as he trailed his face over her she couldn't help but wonder what was going through his head. She didn't miss the fact that his clothes were rumpled and his hair was tousled though but she shook it off telling herself that it just had to be a coincidence.

cammy." He eventually said as he pulled them both out of their staring contest. She couldn't help but blush at him slightly as she nodded her head. He watched as he suckedin s deel breath before she slowly stood up.

"Well don't just stand there." She said to him wirh abraised eyebrow and a low snicker as she pulled her arms open wide. She watched as his gaze flickered towards Rachel for a moment as he nodded his head slightly before she plastered a smile and walked towards her.

He hummed as he returned her hug before he slowly pulled away from her. She could see the worry that was cheated on his face but she turned away not wanting him to notice it.

"What is going on with you? No offense, but you don't usually come over until something had happened so how about you tell me what happened." He coerced her.

She didn't want to say it at first as she didnt want him to suddenly jump into action and start acting like the overprotective tone but for a moment she couldn't help but consider the fact that maybe that was what she needed. She needed someone that would be by her side and hold her hand to tell her that everything would be okay.

"Its River." She heard Rachel say and she turned towards her with a deep glare on her face. She didn't want her to blurt it out like that. She watched as he gritted his teeth at her words.

She watched as his jaw tightened before he let out a venomous growl from his lips. She watched as his eyes glowed deeply and she couldn't help but sense a fear come over her.

She wasn't going to be afraid of him in such a way but that moment she found him scary. She felt her throat dry up at the sight of him and she found herself stumbling backwards.

To her luck Rachel headed towards her as she came over and grabbed a hold of his arm. she watched as they seemed to communicate with each other through their eyes as he seemed to slowly behin ti calm himself down.

He sucked in a deep breath and she watched as his eyes slowly returned to their usual color. She had to admit that she found the sight a bit weird but she didn't want to say anything about it.

Instead she felt relieved that all of the awkward tension was reduced more. "So what did that monster want? That man has nothing to give you or to us. He is the one that ruined your life and the one that ruined everything. The last thing is that you should be giving him is your time." He growled at her.

She nodded her head at him in response as she knew that he was right, she knew that River didn't deserve her obedience but he was still her mate even if he had pushed her away. There was still a gaping wound in her chest where he used to be. She felt as though she was lost without him and she hated that feeling very much.

"Well i was actually thinking that maybe it was time for her to give him another chance. I am sure there is a way for him to explain what happened to her. She shouldn't just jump to conclusions". Rachel said and she couldn't help but feel shocked at her words

Rachel had always been the first person to show her disdain towards him. She was always the one to say bpw he was such a Terrible person and that she deserved better and yet now she seemed to be the one to defend him.

"Okay you guys shouldn't look at me like that as though you are a second away from Ripping my head off. But just hear me out. In the end he is still your mate and that means that fher ks still a part of you hhat id going to continue to need closure from him , even if that closure if you will have him tell you that it is over for good". She said to her but the thought of him telling her that he is done brought a sharp pain to her chest. She didn't want them to be done and she didn't want to accept the thought of that possibility.

"Hey look at me. I know that you hate him and it doesn't matter what Rachel says we will do this on your own terms. You are the one in charge here and whaT you say goes in the end. So if you want me to go ahead and beat that man up I will because he doesnt hurt you and get away with it@. He said to her and she couldn't help but chuckle.

It warmed her heart to know that she could always count on them. They were the intl family that she had and she was grateful to have the both of them in her life. They were the best things that had ever happened to her and she didn't know what she would do or where she would be without them.

"Now come on. I know that you must be drained so let me take you to your room". He said to her and she nodded her head at him in response.

They pulled up to the guest room as he opened it o and he helped her to get her things inside. She went to the bathroom to get chancee d onto something comfortable and returned to find him sitting on the bed in thought.

"What is it?" She asked him with concern. He looked up towards her and was about to shake his head. "I am just thinking about everything. I know how hard it was for you last time and I just know that I want you to be safe in the end. I don't want you to get hurt by him any further." He said to her.

She let out A sigh from her lips and nodded her head at him. "But there was a boy with him." she said to him in confusion as her tears welled up.

She watched as he stiffened as his gaze hardened at her words. He was silent for a lonent bw fore sucking in a deep breath and shaking his head.

He leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Don't worry about Jackson." Was all he said as he walked out and it was only when he walked out that she realized something.

She had never told him his name.
