Chapter 8

I felt all the darkness vanish from my vision and my body felt like it contained limitless strength. I rolled over and jumped to my feet.

The orc didn't move, not expecting me to get a burst of speed. I stamped and the orc rolled backwards, picking up his sword in the process.

He jabbed and I caught the sword in my hands. I snapped it in half and stabbed both pieces through the orc's chest. He coughed, blood going all over my face.

I ignored it and picked him up with one hand and slammed him to the ground.

BOOOM

BOOOM

BOOOM

I grabbed the orc by the neck and brought him up to eye level. He started at me with barely contained fear. I headbutted him and his eyes rolled back in his head.

I dropped his body to the ground and stamped on his head. Blood and brain matter went everywhere but it did not deter me.

I kept stomping on his head until I knew for certain he was dead. I stopped and stepped back. There was blood all over the ground and all over me. In an instant, all the strength I had left my body and I crumpled to the ground.

I groaned and stared up at the sky.

"Bing"

"Host is no longer in danger"

"Immortal Mode deactivated"

"Due to host demonstrating overwhelming strength during Immortal Mode, strength stat had been raised accordingly"

"XP has been awarded for killing 280 orcs"

Additional stat points have been awarded for killing "Orc Boss level 12"

I immediately opened my status to see what had changed.

I had levelled up to level 10 and my strength stat had increased a lot. I noticed that I had thirty-six allocatable stats and quickly used them.

My stats now looked like this,

Just after all my stats reached twenty I got another notification.

My mind was overwhelmed with images of a dragon cutting rocks with his claws. The claws seemed to reflect all the light that hit them and channel that energy into an attack.

Just before I felt I was going to go insane from the intensity of the claws light, the images vanished. However, I could remember every single detail I had seen.

I hauled myself to my feet, eager to find out what I could do. Instead of getting to my feet like I normally would, I flew up about ten metres in the air.

I rolled to reduce the impact and ended up making a crater in the ground. I stared at it in amazement. My stats now we're completely different from before I was killed.

At least, the effect of the stat had changed. With my strength stat at twenty-six, I estimated I had the same amount of strength when my stat was at fifty before I was killed.

I punched and the air in front of me distorted and a shockwave was produced from the force. I saw a piece of a sword lying on the ground and picked it up.

I scraped it across my palm and it didn't even leave a mark. I tried pushing the point in but even then it couldn't penetrate my skin. I brought the piece down with a lot more force and it snapped, sending splinters of metal everywhere.

I laughed. If the rest of the bosses in the tutorial were the same strength as the orc one I could beat them easily.

I looked at my status again wondering how to activate the ability. I remembered what they looked like in the picture and tried to visualise my hands looking like that.

I felt my hands begin to heat up and looked down at them. There were now blinding white scales covering my hands and golden claws where my nails were.

I swiped and four gold streak marks appeared in the air. They zoomed towards a nearby rock and collided with it. The resulting explosion was so bright I had to completely turn away.

When I looked back there was nothing there. The rocks, the grass, the trees, all completely disintegrated. I looked down at my hand and noticed that the claws were gone.

I tried to make them appear again and got a notification.

"Bing"

"The Celestials Dragons Claws mist be recharged before you can use them again"

"They can be recharged by killing enemies or absorbing sunlight"

I stared at the notification in annoyance. I had gained a cool skill but it had to be recharged after each use.

I looked up at the night sky and decided to sleep in one of the orcs tents for the night. I made my way inside one and was asleep within seconds.
