Reincarnation of a Failed Author: I Hate Clichés

"I hate clichés," I mutter under my breath, frustration etching lines on my face as I stare at yet another overused plot blowing up on the website of the novel I'm publishing. It's a constant cycle of disappointment for me, with no viewers, no readers, and certainly no feedback. In other words, I'm a failed author, stuck in a rut of uninspired storytelling. I can't quite recall when my disdain for cliché tropes first took root, but one thing is for certain— I found myself reincarnated into another world after an unfortunate encounter with a truck. Typical, right? I die in a cliché manner and end up in a whole new reality. "Damn it, I had to go and die in a cliché way too!" I grumble, shaking my head at the irony of it all. But this time, I have a new name, a new body, and even magical powers to boot. I'm now known as Helis, and this is my chance at a fresh start. After hearing the name of the world I had reincarnated into, Crisyes, I realized it was the world of the novel I had only written the concept about. It seems I've been thrust into the world that is on its last living decades. The details elude me, but I'm certain of one thing—this world is on a collision course with chaos. What I didn't anticipate, however, were the lingering threads of my previous life, the invisible connections that bind me to Earth. These mysterious [Story] strings will come back to haunt me, weaving a web of uncertainty and challenges that I'll have to navigate sooner or later. I may despise clichés, but little did I know that I would become entangled in a story far beyond my control. It's a tale where my past and present collide, and only time will reveal the true extent of its consequences. ------Notice------ THE STORY WILL TAKE TIME TO BUILD! Yes, it will start as a normal reincarnation story with cliché elements and cringe events, but the energy will shift at the last chapter of the first volume. The story will focus more on the development of the characters and world-building, not just, "Wow, found a golden cup which I'll drink from and become immortal." No, I will make it as realistic as possible, especially the characters. Oh, and the mc has a knack to trigger cliché events, that's one of the reasons he hates them. If you care about horny chapters, they do happen but later on when the time is right. That's it here, please support me through this journey, and most importantly: Enjoy!

School Squabble, II

"Yeah, yeah, shut up now, let me beat your ass so this will be over quickly."

I said those words with a nasal, indifferent voice.

"Tch," Luke spat, "Quite the arrogant one, aren't you?"

I raised my shoulders slightly, "I've heard that a lot, even from otherworldly beings." I said the first part with a goofy tone, whereas the second with a cold and serious one.

"What do you mean by that?" Luke eyed me skeptically while his crew members burst out laughing.

"Bwahaha, this guy is crazy!"

"Otherworldly beings? Yeah, right."

"This guy's delusions are higher than the mountains of Geomitus!"

Geomitus? Ah, yeah, yeah, the highest mountain on par with Mount Everest in my previous world, although I think this one's height exceeds Everest.

"Wowzers, quite the words from a non-playable character like you," I spoke with excitement, the next instant transitioning next to him, "Now, I wish you a goodnight."

"Wha–" His words were cut off in half by the punch that followed right after.

"Gh–"

"Hey, hey, you ain't got the time to groan," I said with a smirk over my face as I grabbed the fatso's hair and pulled it towards the ground, smashing his head first into the the smooth soil.

"First bot down." I felt the relishing adrenaline pumping through me, this is my first ever fight with actual people besides my father, "Now, who's next?" I eyed the rest of the crew.

Six against one, it was.

Luke Crimson, a Knight-Potential mage standing as the leader, the two delinquent wannabes cowering behind him, that makes three. The other three were standing by Luke's side, I can only assume that they are Luke's lackeys.

"Hey, hey, dear upperclassmen, why are you hesitating?" I voiced with a slightly pitched voice.

Ah, the ecstasy, I love it.

Standing atop everyone, being feared by everyone… It's the best!

"Haha…" I tippy-toed once, "Come here you lil' bitch!" I strengthened my muscles with mana and made my way toward the lackey on the right of Luke.

"Move!" Luke bellowed as he jumped in front of me.

I halted, "Eh? Why are you interfering?"

"Do you have no pride, you phony!?"

"Phony? About what?" I raised my brow at his words.

"You dare go after my men when I stand right in front of you?" He spoke gruffly.

"Well, I mean… isn't the best left for last?"

"Huh?"

"Or the desert after the feast?"

"What are you talking about…?" Luke questioned me with a vexed look taking over his expression.

"Well, I mean, if you want to come at me first, I can deal with that, you know? You're all level 2 enemies."

"Level? Wait, no, I challenge you to a duel, accept it now!"

"Duel? Oh, so we're allowed to fight within the school grounds, okay I accept, and about the level deal, I'm basically saying you all are dog-water at fighting, but since you seem to be of a promising background, then, bring it on." I stretched the fingers of my hand towards him, waving it towards me.

"You mutt!" He howled as he stepped back, increasing the distance between us.

"Ah, so your weak point is close-range combat, huh? What a way to give it away, you've still got a long way to go, dear Luke." I voiced my thoughts out loud as I tried to close in on him.

"Fireball," He chanted.

"Pfft–" I couldn't help but let a snort out.

"You're supposed to be a Knight-Potential mage? Spare me your charades please," I easily evaporated his spell with a water ball of mine, making a gust of steam in the vicinity of our duel grounds.

"Mana-Blade, Super-Augmentation, Firewall." I chanted three spells instantly, grabbing for a feel of the atmosphere mana, and the one that was already stored in my body.

I envisioned the multicolored motes circulating throughout my body, my veins, my blood vessels, and up to my brain, becoming colorless. After being reprogrammed, the particles began taking a shade of green as they escaped my body into thundery green ripples.

That in itself is what I have to go through to activate Super-Augmentation, a spell that increases my physical stats over tenfold, for it is known as a Transcendental Spell.

As for the rest, for example, Mana-Blade is just as the name implies, it's a blade that forms over my hand with pure mana.

And my firewall constructed a beautiful yellow into red veil that surrounded him and me, constricting the view to passersby, like Selica or the other dumbos.

"Now then, do you forfeit, senior?" I asked, the glowing blade of pure mana particles just inches away from his throat, threatening to cut whenever ordered to.

Luke had fallen on his ass when I approached him at the speed of a blink, it may have seemed to him that I teleported or something.

Thinking about this, I'm quite overpowered, aren't I?

I hope my story isn't going to be one where I will be overpowered throughout the whole journey, trampling over every— Damn, I was about to trigger another event that I would probably curse myself for.

No, I'm fine with being OP and destroying any and every enemy of mine.

"I-I forfeit." Luke slumped to the ground, disappointment written all over his face. I guess he realized that the world doesn't revolve around him.

"Now," I dissipated the blade and offered my hand, "Stand up, it was enough that you could react to my speed alone." I complimented him, even falling on his ass was a thing many couldn't do when they oppose such speed.

"D-Did you just Triple-Cast, Helis? Selica asked after she was safe to approach us.

"No," I replied flatly.

"Helis, I'm not that dense, you can't fool me when I clearly saw that three spells were activated at the same time."

"Why do you have to be so sharp?" I said in a monotonous tone.

"S-So, you really did a Triple-Cast?"

"Yeah, and what of it?"

"W-What?" I received a reaction from someone else instead, Luke.

"Oh, I forgot you were here," A grin stretched across my face, "Now, let's get you into shape so you keep a secret of what you just went through against me."

"Grah!" I heard a shrilling scream just a few feet away.

"Huh," I turned to face that way, but it was too late.

"Kgh?" I felt a deep, burning sensation.

"What?" My eyes widened when I realized I had been impaled by a spear.

Oh, damn, a twist at the end.

Please support and enjoy everyone!
