CHAPTER 13
[Corresponding rewards unable to be received]
[Maximum rewards received]
The notifications that appeared before him left him in nothing but mental turmoil. It turned out that he couldn't be granted ten times Yuki's talent, so all he received was its maximum.
In addition to that, the fact that his light energy manipulation wasn't of the corresponding grade meant that all the power he just received would be potentially useless.
Every talent he would pick up at that moment would be latent, waiting for the day when he finally evolves his light control to that stage of godhood.
But his mental state wasn't just because of the notification he had just received — from the moment his emotional state took its downturn, all he had felt was suppressed feelings waiting to be released.
They didn't go away, staying right there, waiting for him to let them all out somehow. Was it all based on his facial expressions or something else entirely?
Yeah, he still smiled, smirked, and laughed, but it all felt very empty — all to the point that he couldn't bring himself to do it anymore since it only made him feel more empty.
" Damnit!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, dashing towards the demon with his eyes widened.
He wanted to do it, to release all those emotions that were deep within him, waiting for him to let them all out.
Whatever it was happening to him, whatever it was controlling him, it was either it stopped or he would break himself to the point that he wouldn't feel anything.
That was exactly what he wanted to do — coming a few meters close to the demon, he jumped up as high as he could, grabbing onto the creature's face right before it could flinch its head backward.
His legs went flying upwards, his nails piercing deep into the creature's eye and face. It began shaking violently, screeching at pain which it just felt.
The vague emptiness he felt was what kept him going, resisting the looming temptation to rip deeper into the creature's body until it would stop moving.
He did want it to stop moving, but the beast was moving far too fast that all he could was hold on tight until it would stop shaking him around. It stopped a while after its loud cries, giving him a few moments to catch his breath before slamming his head right against the beast's face.
It screeched loudly in pain once again, promptly continuity its head swing rampage, running around wild until it slammed its face against the mud cage. A thud resounded as his back came against the hard mud cage.
But he didn't stop there — ignoring the pain, he continued slamming his head against the creature's face, azure blood spilling out and splattering all over the place as the creature's skull slowly cracked open.
" Damnit it all!" He yelled at the top of his lungs as he continued bashing his head against the creature's face.
Gripped tightly onto its face, the creature was left without the ability to do him any harm. Its eyes were the most fragile part of its body, and he had already damaged one of them while having clouded the other with azure blood.
It was now left partially blind with its opponent constantly disrupting its sense of dark energy to the point where it was left clinging to life.
It wasn't long after the clashing of their skulls that it finally collapsed to the floor along with him. His fingers were still clawed into its face, his face ached with rage, but the feeling he wanted wasn't there.
This anger, which he felt, wasn't being directed towards anyone — just him staring at the corpse of a demon with a scrunched face.
The hardened earth cage slowly began to dissolve to the ground whilst he slowly moved forward. His face and hands were now covered in azure blood. His face still scrunched with a new tinge of azure to his hair and eyes.
Looking at him now, no one who were to set their eyes on him would consider his size for a moment before stepping back because of how he looked — if rage was the only thing he could let out at that moment then he might as well keep it going until the very end.
He crossed straight into the next checkpoint, darkness shrouding him once again as burning torches slowly began lighting up the place once again.
Spikes began to grow out of the walls just like they did at the first checkpoint. The ground turned muddy as hot flames continuously spewed out from the ground.
But... this time, he didn't wait for the demons to arrive before preparing for an attack — holding his hand forward, he blasted a white glowing ball straight toward the first demon to reveal itself.
—Bang!
A loud thud resounded as the ball increased to ten times its size the moment it made contact with the demon. An explosion followed, blowing the demon behind, but unlike the first few who suffered the wrath of the same attack, it was left standing, barely clinging to life.
From the moment he laid eyes on them, he knew what was happening — This was a game of sorts — each upper two checkpoints were boss rooms, and he didn't know how long it would go for.
He was up against low-level grade 5 demons, the same grade as the insect-like demon he faced a moment ago. They were no less unintelligent, possessing nothing but slightly improved physical abilities; a huge number was certainly something he would have a hard time dealing with, considering the traps.
Having made his first move, he quickly ran forward, enhancing his steps with light energy so as to prevent himself from being submerged in the muddy ground. Using light sensory, he knew where the next pillars of flames would erupt and that was exactly what he wanted.
One thing that humanity had in common, even after the cataclysm the world was facing, was nature and the natural occurrence of its elements.
The six elements, with the exclusion of the solid state of the element of light, didn't have a factor for determining their power on a fair scale. The only that could tip the scales in a battle between elemental sorceries was occurrence and average.
This meant that a wind user would be at equal scaling with every elemental sorcerer, maybe overwhelmed when factoring in the fact that other sorcerers would have clear advantages when in such positions.
It was exactly what he felt at that moment — a clear advantage — one where he would turn his disadvantage into his greatest weapon...
The most basic of any elemental art of sorcery, [Basic "natural" control], in his case fire, basically allowed him to control any source of fire within a certain range around him unless the caster of the flames had a stronger control than him.
This seemed to be the case here, but the caster clearly didn't care as he reached out his hands towards the next spewing pillar of flames.
His hands turned a burning red as soon as they made contact with the flames, forcing him to grit his teeth as he fought the intense pain. But it was only for a moment...
A ball of flames quickly formed around his hands, burning as hot as ever as he slowly turned towards the approaching demons with an intent glare.
