CHAPTER 14
*Huff* *huff.*
He continued breathing heavily, slowly treading forward with his gaze on the ground and a small silver blade tightly held within his right hand.
His body was covered with cuts, bruises, and not just azure blood, but his own as well. An excruciating pain ran through his entire body as he slowly moved forward, the next hoard of demons charging towards him.
Behind him was a pile of demons, each with azure blood oozing out of their bodies from a similar puncture to their trunks. They had despicable cuts, bruises, and burns, which signified their struggles before their deaths.
The definite nature of violence — he would have been in the same state had he not improvised a bit sooner.
" Holy sh*t! Dam*it... Fu*k... F*ck all of this stupid sh*t." He thought, slowly moving forward, "How the hell did they suddenly grow smarter? Those mother *uckers were able to improvise their attacks so they would be able to land most of their hits against me..."
" Oh... and another group of same old dirty sh*t bags." He mumbled after the slight pause in his thoughts.
His head was still hazy after having defeated ten higher intelligence grade five and semi-grade four demons, and he wound up standing before a similar group of enemies in a few minutes.
His hands trembled at the thought of what could become of his fate, his feet turning cold as he struggled to slowly step backward away from the malevolent creatures.
" Fu*k." He cursed as one of the creatures came dashing towards him.
It was quite fast, perhaps half his maximum speed, but he was way below his average self in his current condition — his energy was almost sapped to the brim while his entire body ached to the point where it felt like his bones could break at any time.
His survival chance was now far beyond critical — there wasn't any surviving this alive if there wasn't anything past the group of grade-five demons...
But despite this, he decided to cast aside the intricate weaves of faith looming over him and held out his right hand just as the demon charged towards him.
And...
*Slump!*
It collapsed on the ground just a few centimeters away from him, azure blood oozing from its body and to the ground as the glowing crystal within the demon was revealed.
The back of the demon had been sliced open — a horizontal slash, revealing the rigid and slightly spherical core lying deep within the body of the creature.
It cast a warm glow within its body, exuding a great presence of dark energy that seemed very much appealing to him.
But... he was trembling even more at what had happened at that moment. The demon had been killed, but it wasn't Megumi who had taken its life.
Somehow, a cut that deep had been made without him noticing what caused the damage. Another enemy that fast spelled doom for him, and it was so close.
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
One by one, the creatures continued to drop to the ground while he did nothing but what in awe as he slowly backed away.
" Fuck." He cursed, turning towards the wall of earth which was now blocking his path, " This is just so frickin messed up."
While he stood there, praying for a change in his fate as he turned towards the empty and dark road ahead of him, there it was bright red eyes and a very loud metallic creaking noise.
It had something with it — a metal, rustling against the ground as it slowly made its way towards him. His heart continued to pound heavily as he stared intently into the darkness, watching as the unseen slowly stepped foot onto the light.
Held tightly within its right hand and plodding against the ground, a huge rectangular weapon with a well-sharpened edge.
The creature suddenly dashed towards the dead body of the other demons, grabbing hold of a body as it ripped out the cores which was in its body.
It began to munch on the cores, its eyes coursing with an intense glow as the energy from the cores soared through its body.
It bent its head slightly, gripping it immediately with both hands as the energy within began to build up even more. Screeches were let out as it began trembling on the ground, holding back the pain it felt, its muscles tensing up.
His gaze shifted to the huge weapon that the demon had with it, its size alone enough to speak of its tremendous strength. He would have trouble lifting the damn thing, let alone swinging it.
Yet here he was, staring at something that could. His condition was terrible and he was sure he would lose against that thing even in full shape.
Left in such a desperate situation, he did the only thing he could — an act forbidden by the world and one that would only grant him temporary power — power, enough to take care of the thing before him.
He knelt slowly, gripping his aching shoulder and ache. With his hands trembling he reached out to one of the corpses and slowly ripped out the core present within it.
But that wasn't the only thing he did — holding the core aside in one hand, slowly draining the dark energy surging within it, he grabbed the demon's limb and bit into it.
The creature's blood was still fresh, slowly filling up his mouth as he bit open its hard skin. A bitter metallic taste shrouded his test buds, causing him to quickly cover his mouth as he slowly gulped down his mouth full of blood.
" Argh." He gagged, turning away his face to the other side of the wall as he threw away the rigid core.
A foreign feeling filled him, a burning sensation running through him as he gazed intently at the ground, his eyes trembling.
They continued to tremble, a slight blue slowly evading them.
" Ahhhhhh!"
