Clashing With The Black Knight

After that, it was my turn to run since the storm's Beast would be going after me. I should've known this would occur. It felt like throwing a grenade into enemy territory and hoping for the best while running for my dear life. I've officially made Usain Bolt the second-fastest person in this lifetime.

And I was surprised that I could keep my stamina after running for more than a few minutes. I would've been out of breath by now in my old world, but I was still going strong. Since I was a Party Leader of the group, I could check in to the members' locations.

And to my shock, they were traveling at top speeds as if they were muscle cars. And Tomoe had transformed into his adult fox form, with Duncan on his back. Bryan was also on Tomoe's back, but he faced backward and had his weapons ready.

Raiyen was glitching ahead of the group to ensure no threats were before them. That was quite a good team composition, and I was confident that they would reach the exit in no time. But, lamentably, as I was nearing their position on the map, another enemy stepped into my vision.

It was lucky that Vania was in battle mode, or else the wave of black Elemental Energy would've destroyed me. Instead, it came out of nowhere, destroying the left wall of the tunnel. I conjured up my sword and prepared to face another oncoming attack.

"You must have good area awareness to dodge my attack so easily... Either that or you got lucky..." said a muffled voice.

I couldn't tell if it was coming from a boy or a girl, but I nearly felt my bowels empty when I saw who was stepping out from the smoke and broken wall. A knight fully clad with black, dragon-like armor. I backed away to keep a distance away from my enemy.

I may be shocked, but I wasn't going to show it to my enemy. I held a fierce look while I gripped firmly onto the handle of my blade.

"Good... You understand that I am a formidable foe and raised your weapon. I shall do the honor by drawing out my blade," bellowed the Knight, as a cloud of black Elemental Energy engulfed her upper arm and traveled down to her palm.

Wait... Does that mean the explosion from earlier wasn't from her blade?!

"What? Did you truly think that my weapon could cause a small hole in the wall? Don't make me laugh, young Mage. That was only a flick in the wall by my finger," boasted the Black Knight.

An explosion of black and red appeared, and the Knight was holding onto the sword of mass destruction. Within my vision, I could tell Vania was scared to analyze the weapon that the Black Knight was wielding. But I needed the girl to do her work so I could fight the enemy.

"Vania, I know you are afraid, but I am counting on you to give me information so we can both get out of this alive," I whispered out loud in hopes that Vania could better understand me.

The girl instantly complied as I saw a bunch of popouts about the stats on the Black Knight's black sword. But I was shocked that it wasn't what I had anticipated. Our information was wrong about the identity of the Black Knight!

My opponent's sword in her hand wasn't the blackened Sword of Promised Victory... It's... The ornate sword used for knighting by King Arthur, Clarent. It was the same blade that would be stolen by the Knight of Rebellion, Mordred, to bring Arthur to his knees.

No, wait... Perhaps the Black Knight was still the King, but she somehow got back Clarent? Why though... Excalibur would be a much better weapon than an ornate sword. Before I could say anything, the Black Knight landed the first strike on my left shoulder.

While I was running from the wave, I had managed to patch up my armor, but against the Black Knight's blade, my armor pieces were torn apart like paper. Crimson liquid gushed out from the wound while I quickly backed away. But my enemy wasn't letting me go that easily.

The Black Knight followed me as I leaped back with my blade clashing against her quick moves. Our clashes were so great that the nearby debris flew all over. Her strikes were more unpredictable than Duncan's and significantly more powerful than anyone I encountered.

Though I couldn't feel any pain, I knew that the clashes should have been powerful enough to dislocate my arms if I was human. But with my self-healing and enhanced defense properties, I could stand against the Black Knight without too much pressure.
