When lunch was over, Adela found herself alone with her sisters in the courtyard. Princess Rosalie had excused herself because she was not feeling well. Lady Klara had excused herself to "deal with official matters". Her sister had followed after her. Caroline rolled her eyes at her retreating back. Adela shot her a warning look. Caroline pursed and twisted her lips to the side. Lucia looked at her curiously. Caroline was always the outspoken one of the sisters, but she had never been this… outwardly rude before.
"What is wrong with you?" Adela hissed once the Vogel sisters were out of sight.
"I don't like her," Caroline said bluntly.
"She is the lady royal of this country," Adela reminded her sister. "Have a little respect."
"You are her future queen," Caroline reminded her sister. "She should show more respect."
"But Caroline," Lucia said gently, "by openly creating animosity, you are making things hard for Adela."
