Am I the problem?

Dante Pov

When I got back to my room, I was exhausted beyond belief, like seriously, all I did was talk.

I fell on my bed intending to take a quick 30 minutes nap.

.....

I woke up the following day. I should've probably set an alarm or something. I got ready and went to visit my parents. They were casual. Nothing seemed to have changed even after the meeting.

I was told that there would be a banquet later that evening. It wasn't in my honour or anything. It was just happening, and I happened to be here.

That evening, I was dressed immaculately again. Not to brag, but I was looking good. I managed to convince my parents to let me go ahead of them in order to avoid being ambushed with 2 hours of pictures again.

I was led to the 'banquet hall'. It was a very grand event. There were quite a few people there already. I spotted a group of children of varying ages running around and having fun. So I approached, I didn't want to, but I couldn't just approach the adults as soon as I entered.

I needed to blend in and mingle, then slowly creep my way into a conversation with a group of adults to help get an understanding of the Vongola.

These kids seemed to be having the time of their lives just running about or playing some sort of running game. Hiding underneath the tables.

I did approach a few kids to try to start a conversation, but all my attempts were unfruitful.

None of them were interested in talking about the political and economic state of the world. Which was disappointing, to say the least.

For some unknown reason, my desire to talk about the political and economic state of the world, had led to me being shunned. Which was causing me to stand out. This was detrimental to my plan. I was on the fast track to being called the 'weird kid'.

I gathered a few of them and introduced them to a game called Cops and Robbers, which I assumed with the hero-villain motive they would enjoy. They were not familiar with this game.

It worked, they loved it. I had become the 'cool kid'. The guy who knew a lot of interesting things.

After some time, my cover was secure and I approached a gathering of adults who seemed like employees of the company. Guards and some house attendants from what I could gather. I could probably get some good information out of them.

"Hell-

"Guys look, north entrance." One person exclaimed.

"The hell is North," another questioned, darting their eyes around. I join him, looking around and thinking the same.

Then a commotion at one of the entrances grabbed my attention. It seemed as though someone important had arrived.

I looked to see who, and it was no one aside from my parents. I understand my mother is very beautiful, and my dad really outdid himself rocking a unique red and black suit with a freaking cap, looking like a prince in a fantasy world.

Yeah, they looked good, but the commotion seemed to be getting louder. I didn't really understand what the fuss was about. Maybe they were just happy to see them again after all these years.

"That's Master Ezio and Lady Hinata. You know. The Devil's Advocate and Limos, The Goddess of Famine." Someone exclaimed excitedly.

'The what?' I thought.

The Devil's Advocate. I'm pretty sure that I've heard Dad call himself that before. Thought just the sad rumblings for the poor guy.

That sounds kind of cool, I won't lie.

But Goddess of Famine, that's just rude. 'How did mum get a name like that?' I wondered.

"Devil's Advocate and Goddess of Famine? What's that?" Someone in the group coincidentally asked.

"What, how do you even work for the Vongola and not know?" The oldest-looking person there questioned.

"Listen here, these two are legends in the corporate world?"

"They did battle with billion-dollar businesses regularly. And they never lost. Not even ones. They were a formidable dual that ruled the corporate world. The Devil's Advocate would take the business to court and defeat them, weakening them.

Then the Limos, The Goddess of Famine, would appear and devour them whole, leaving nothing but bones. Her skills as a CEO are without equal. Every business overseen by her has gone on to become incredibly successful." He said, with an almost fanatic devotion.

"They helped cement our status as a Trillion-dollar company."

"Wow, that's amazing." Someone said

I couldn't help but agree. Who would have guessed? However, my mum's nickname is a bit much like seriously the Goddess of Famine. That's so rude.

Again coincidentally someone asked, "Why is she called the Goddess of Famine? Isn't that too far? Just because she is a great CEO."

His question was received by the others with raised eyebrows and strange looks. Which then broke out into laughter.

"Hahahaha, that is so funny." Some exclaimed

"Listen newbie, her name isn't because she is a great CEO. It is because she has headed a lot of mergers, and in those mergers, thousands of people have been made redundant and left jobless at her command." A guard educated.

"Damn. That's evil." The newbie remarked.

I couldn't help but agree. Wow.

"Yeah, I heard that a few years ago, the world nations came together to pass a law that would restrict them." Some whispered.

'That's so badass.' I thought, feeling myself becoming a fan.

"Nah, I heard that they gave birth, but the nations of the world stole the baby and are using it to keep them in check." Another whispered.

'Are they talking about me?' I wondered

Wait. Pause. Ignoring the last bits. Let's evaluate this from a different perspective.

I was born into a powerhouse of a family, have a powerful mysterious grandfather, have parents that are feared by the world, and I'm a young master.

Oh my God. Am I the bad guy? In a cultivation novel, I would be the bad guy, you know, the destined villain that gets trampled by the protagonist, the son of heaven.

I mean, my parents are clearly bad guys.

Wait, I haven't messed with anyone yet. It's all good.

Oh shit. Akira. The kid I beat up from my early days of school. Kid's probably got his golden finger right now.

Chill Dante, this isn't a cultivation story, so I should be alright, right?

While I was having a mental breakdown, another commotion pulled me back.
