Athena, Goddess of war

Terra and Delta shook hands with Hephaestus.

Terra & Delta: Thank you, for everything.

Hephaestus: It was my pleasure watching you two bring my suits into battle.

Terra: Bet you've never seen anything like it, eh?

Hephaestus: I haven't actually. Be careful at the library. Who knows who might be there. Plus, Athena is a pain to deal with.

Terra: We'll see Athena?

Hephaestus: Yes. Some people think she is...hard to bargain with.

Terra: Not a worry. We got far enough. We can't give up now.

Hephaestus: Just, one thing. Think about what Zeus is asking of you. He wants you to kill Poseiden. I won't lie. That's one of his brothers. He's too cowardly. A place with peace is a place where he rules over all. Just, think about that before making a decision you may regret.

Terra and Delta were silent. Both of them running this info through their heads. Persephone popped out of one of Hephaestus's rooms. She came over to Terra and Delta. She kissed Terra on the forehead and Delta on the cheek. Delta blushed madly.

Persephone: It was nice getting to know you all. I was great friends with your mom, Delta. She was flawed. But she had a certain view of the world. Just, be a better Olympian than she was. Though, I did admire her rebelliousness. Thank you all for the thrilling fights yesterday.

Terra: See ya!

Delta: B-bye.

They left Hephaestus's house.

Terra: So...off to the Olympian library, huh?

Delta:...

Terra: Earth to Delta! Hey!

Delta was startled out of her daydream.

Delta: Oh, Sorry. What were you saying?

Terra: You really that flustered from Persephone?

Delta: You wouldn't get it. A-and she's married!

Terra: I mean, remember when she had to heal that disease from Apollo, and she had to-.

Delta: Yeah yeah I remember! It was yesterday!

Terra laughed.

Terra:Okay, seriously. We have to get to this library. Luckily it's uphill, which means less mountain climbing.

Delta: Right.

They did have to climb a bit of mountain. But they could see the library's roof from down the hill. They started walking up.

Terra: Sooo, that whole Poseiden thing. What do you think?

Delta: What about it?

Terra: Hephaestus told us we might have to kill him.

Delta: I thought that was the general consensus. Don't take the moral high ground again.

Terra: But what if Zeus does have something else in mind for us?

Delta: I came here in search of my one life goal. Be an Olympian god. Honor my mother.

Terra: I've heard that one-hundred times by this point.

Delta: Remember what I said? Don't get in my way.

Terra: Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to have a reasonable conversation here. Imagine what killing Poseiden could do!

Delta: It's straightforward. Zeus asked us to do that task. Then I get what I want.

Terra laughed.

Delta: What's so funny?

Terra: You sound like me. I was selfish enough to be the main cause for the destroying of San Francisco. I was selfish enough to let out forty million mutants all at once. Because it was justice.

Delta: Yeah, for that your a really shitty person. I own up to my shittyness. I don't care.

Terra: I just...don't want to be thought of as the one dumb girl who threw the world into chaos. Atleast, not by everyone. We should be careful where we step next. I don't want to kill Poseiden.

Delta: I've taken so much bullshit from the world. You ruined my life. Apollo fucked me over. I have no sympathy for a cruel world, so I'll be just as cruel. I don't care if the oceans never flow again.

Terra: We'll have choices to make. Listen to me. None of the Olympians care about you. Your family will be just as broken when you were with Artemis.

Delta decked Terra in the face. She stumbled over for a second. Terra blocked Delta's next punch and kicked her in the gut. As Delta fell back. Terra was slammed in the gut with Delta's shinguard. Terra threw it off of her. Delta pulled her gun on Terra.

Terra: Enough, Delta! Calm the fuck down! You can't be Artemis like this!

Delta stopped. She put her gun away.

Delta: Thought you didn't like that idea.

Terra: You fantasize about it. We're almost here.

They entered the library.

???: Who are you two?

They turned around to see who must've been Athena. She was wearing a greek helmet with a red mohawk, and a golden chestplate that came down past her chest. Past this she wore a white cloak. She had a golden belt as well, which matched her golden sandals.

Terra: You're Athena, right?

Athena: Correct. What are you two doing here?

Delta: We need info.

Athena: Look around. There is plenty of information here.

Delta: We need to know a certain type of information. Where is Poseiden now?

Athena: Who wants to know?

Delta: Me. I do.

Athena: Why?

Delta: Doesn't matter.

Athena shook her head. She turned invisible.

Terra: What the hell?

Delta: With the use of her helm. She can turn herself invisible.

Delta was suddenly knocked to the floor. Athena appeared behind her with her foot on Delta's back. She was holding the scroll Zeus gave them. Only the current goal was displayed. "Go to the Olympian library, and find out where Poseiden's hiding place is."

Terra: Hey, why would Poseiden be hiding anyway?

Athena: Zeus really doesn't trust you two. Even though your on your way to godhood. I watched lots of your actions, Terra. Especially when you were in the underworld.

Terra: What about it?

Athena: Do you remember the dragon lady down there?

Terra: Oh, yeah. She called you guys children or something.

Athena: Right. That is Zeus's mother, Hesial. The rightful ruler of Skyland. She created everything.

Terra: Really? Everything? So I met one of the creators of the universe?!

Athena: Zeus jailed her up, so he could take possession of Olympus. This was shortly after the first attack on Olympus. From the Clan of Reiki.

Terra: This is way too much information all at once! Who was killed during this first attack?

Athena: Aphrodite, Hermes, Hestia, Hephaestus was crippled.

Terra: That has to have been...Ivan.

Athena: How do you know Ivan?

Terra: I fought him on many occasions. He said he killed those people.

Athena: You fought him and lived?! How?

Terra: I was fighting him on Earth. Apparently he was weaker.

Athena: The Olympians are fighting right now. Because Zeus wants to keep her locked up. Poseidon thinks she should be set free.

Terra: Set free? So two sides of Olympians are fighting?

Athena: Yes. If you are going to kill Poseiden, which Zeus wants you to do, I will not let you.

Terra: It's okay. I don't want to kill him. We both don't.

Athena: That's a lie.

Terra: How do you know?

Athena: Your friend, Delta. Is thinking about pounding him into the sand right now.

Delta: So you really can read me. Don't stand in my way.

Athena: You really-

Athena laughed.

Athena: I'm the goddess of war! You couldn't beat me in a fight!

Delta: I beat Apollo. I can go further.

Athena: You're a child from the woods. Your first mother neglected you, and so did Artemis.

Delta: You don't know anything about me. You have no idea how bad I need this.

Athena: No. I don't.

Athena fired a blast of light at Delta.

Terra: Delta! Not now!

Delta shook it off with her armor. And ran towards Athena and slid. She pulled her guns and shot as many shots as possible at Athena. She shrugged off the blows.

Terra: Seriously! We don't have time to fight!

Delta: We have a goal! She stands in our way! I've come so far. Can't stop now.

Athena floated above the air and grabbed Delta by the neck. She pushed her out of the library.

Athena: No fighting in the library.

Delta: Like I give a shit.

Delta fired on destruction. And shook out of Athena's grip. She did a backflip onto a floating island. Athena took out her shield. And a spear. She slashed forward with her spear, Delta caught it and kicked it down. She took out her axe and slashed it at Athena. She blocked with her sheild, and slid back just a bit. Delta shot her gun, it bounced off her helm and Athena fell back. Delta jumped forward and grabbed Athena by the head, and slammed her onto the ground. She shot a bunch of shots into her stomach whilst on top of her. Athena threw Delta off of her and stabbed her spear down. It chinked off of Delta's armor. One of her gauntlets flew off and stabbed Athena in the side.

Terra jumped in the way of the two.

Terra: Come on! Delta, stop!

Athena slammed her spear into Terra. She blocked with both of her gauntlets and jumped back, standing next to Delta.

Terra: Delta. You need to stop this.

Athena: Don't worry. She will be stopped.

Delta pushed Terra aside and pulled her axe. Athena stood firm. Delta took a big slash at Athena. Athena shielded the hit. But her shield was broken into pieces. Athena extended her arm. And grabbed Delta's head. Delta was thrown back. Terra went over to her.

Terra: What happened?

Athena: She's alive. I can't intervene by killing one of you. But I can change the way she sees the world.

Terra: What?

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Delta looked down. She was in her body. But she was back with Artemis.

Artemis: If you are to be with me. Live with me, and hunt with me. You must remove any earthly tether you may have. Delta, come up here.

Delta realized she had to have been...Maybe ten at this point.

Artemis: Remind me of the tether you were attached too.

Delta: Of course! I wanted to know who my true family was!

Artemis: Why is this not the right way?

Delta: My family doesn't matter. All that matters is I'm here. With you.

Artemis slapped Delta across the face.

Artemis: Sounds like your earthly tether is me.

Delta: Ow...y-yeah,

Artemis: Ten years of teachings! Thrown away because she decided to get attached to the only one who gave a shit about her! Listen to me Delta. I'll only be proud of you when you surpass me. Until then, you are a disappointment. Get back in line!

Delta thought to herself. When did this happen? She didn't remember this happening. She came back to reality. She looked up at Athena. Who was holding Delta down with her shield.

Athena: How was that?

Delta: What was that?

Athena: A memory. A suppressed one. But a memory. Want more?

Delta: No! Let me go!

Athena: Sounds like a yes.

Athena sent Delta into another memory.

Delta was sitting at a dinner table. She was surrounded by Artemis's woman. Artemis was shouting at a girl.

Artemis: Get out! Never come back! You are a disappointment!

Artemis sat down at the table.

Artemis: I'm happy to see you all here. That one, she was a weakling.

Artemis's nymphs came out, and gave everyone their dishes. Vegan dishes of course. Delta realized she got less.

Delta: Mother, I think there was an error. I didn't get as much as everyone else.

Artemis: And? You are the leader. Imagine you are stranded in a desert. And you only have a bit of food. You should be prepared to give it all up. You're lucky you got any.

Delta, once again. Came back to the present.

Athena: Did Artemis even ever say she was proud of you?!

Delta: Don't…

Athena sent Delta through a string of memories.

Artemis: Don't disappoint me like this! You can heal, don't disappoint your peers. Seriously?! Even Hannah can turn things to stone! You are a failure! Why did I even teach you?! You are a failure! You spent your entire life to die to a zero!

Delta was brought back to the present. She was holding her head in pain. It felt like her brain was splitting in two. At the same time she was breaking down and sobbing. Terra looked at her. She felt a cold chill go up her spine.

Athena sighed.

Athena: This isn't my place. I will put fate in your hands. We are doomed either way.

Terra: Doomed?

Athena: I can't say much more, But it is said that the end of the Olympian era is coming soon.

Terra: ...What? Why has nobody told us about that?!

Athena: I am not aware. But you two could be a deciding factor.

Terra: Delta...are you ready to go?

Delta: ...Yes.

Delta and Terra stood up.

Terra: I'm going to warn Poseidon. Artemis was supposed to bring people together. Maybe I can bring the Olympians together.

Athena: Let's hope so. Poseidon is far down. He resides in the land of the dead currently. Go there, you will find a patch of water close to the lava. He's there.
