The Fog of Destiny: Mortis' Last Warning

Determined, Mortis stepped out of the queen's tent and entered the battlefield to face his enemies. With each step on the uneven terrain, an impenetrable mist spread around him, a manifestation of his powerful abilities. His scythe, a deadly weapon, was firmly in his hand, ready to bring the enemies the fate they deserved.

Slowly and majestically, Mortis strode forward as the mist continued to envelop the battlefield. The nobles around and inside the tent did not look badly, thinking that this young noble was afflicted with madness as Mortis made his way through the soldiers. But inside the tent the advisors were the most surprised, because until today no one knew that the Margravine and the Queen were sisters.

Mortis approached the enemy army as he took a deep breath and delivered his words to the wind so they would carry across the field. Then he roared in a piercing voice, "Enough! You want to fight and chase after new enemies when we already have enough enemies and dangers?!" The words echoed like thunder across the battlefield, creating an eerie silence among the enemy soldiers.

With his mighty ability, the Wind Blade, Mortis drew two aisles in the ground as he continued to speak, "Cross these lines and I will give you an enemy that anyone who dares cross this line will pay. For you disgust me! Dangers lurk everywhere - men, women and children disappear in a cruel way, are eaten or tortured by monsters, demons or other creatures. And you are not even able to save and protect them! But still you demand more and imagine to create a new order, to found an ideology to create more fear and waste resources - to thin yourselves out."

The mysterious fog around Mortis grew thicker and more impenetrable, and his words penetrated deep into the hearts of the enemy soldiers. Uncertainty spread, and some began to doubt.

"We are being infiltrated by other peoples, yet you lambs prefer to go to war against your own kind! And why? Because the queen as well as the margravine are supposed to be lovers? Because it is considered fornication? Are you only limited and stupid? How blind must you be not to realize that this is only a power play?! It has nothing to do with justice or the will of the gods - no, it is the greed of offended men who are too lazy and comfortable to prove their worth. Instead of moving out into the world and finding a suitable mate, they gave themselves over to hatred and rather plotted how to bring suffering and destruction."

Mortis' words struck the enemy army like arrows to the heart. The leaders of the secret alliance were shaken in their convictions, and they suddenly became aware of their atrocities.

"Why not just be better? Every man and woman should aim to be better! But it is easier to sit still and curse the world and everything around you. But today is the day to show your convictions. So come here and prove to me that you are ready to sacrifice your lives for this idiotic ideology that you want to sell us! Come on, fight!"

Mortis' words were like a wake-up call to the enemy army. But while some were filled with doubt, the fanatical leaders of the secret covenant rushed forward to confront Mortis.

Margrave Barbaros and Count Rashil rode forward, followed by other nobles and loyal followers of the new cult. Mortis waited anxiously, counting with amazement that despite the uncertainty, there were still nearly 20,000 men coming forward. But Mortis knew no fear, for with his scythe in hand and the power of the mist augmenting his abilities, he was a true weapon of mass destruction, never losing stamina through the souls of his opponents.

The battle was imminent, and Mortis was ready to fulfill his destiny and fight for what he believed was right - a world without darkness and hatred, but a world where unity, courage and trust would hold the country and its people together.

As the opponents lined up in front of Mortis and readied themselves, two figures suddenly emerged from the troops, cloaked and armed with daggers. They tried to finish off Mortis before the signal was given. Mortis, however, waited and let the two approach. As they attacked him from both sides, Mortis took advantage of his ghostly retreat, backing away only a meter or so and escaping the daggers. With a quick and precise maneuver, he placed the blade of his scythe behind their heads and with a firm kick, he sent the attackers back toward the enemy army. As he did so, he gave one firm tug on his scythe and decapitated the would-be figures.

What Mortis and his enemies saw deeply confused everyone, for cat and dog ears could be seen, showing that they were beastmen hiding among the enemies. But when Mortis killed them, the souls of the two beastmen stood up, took their weapons and faced the enemy army as well. Mortis smiled darkly and roared, "All of you who go against me will suffer this fate! You will become my servants and turn against your own people!"

This made everyone who saw it shudder - the soldiers who stayed behind, the queen's advisors - no one had expected the rumors about the hero of the north to be true. Mortis' abilities and power were unimaginable, and he made his enemies tremble. The souls of the defeated beastmen now fought on his side, and the enemy army was thrown into turmoil and confusion.
