Reaching Out

A boy left all alone in the world after being abandoned by his mother in a poor clan that treated him harshly because he started showing signs of being different from other kids and the people around him. With him being ostracized more and more he became less and less of the cheerful young kid he use to be until eventually turning discreet and mute around others in hopes that they would stop being scared of him. Though that plan never worked out for him and, in the end he was left to strive on his own as best as he could in the environment he was left in. He explored the towns library and any books he could find in his Clan even if they were useless. Years on years of doing such things eventually led him into stumbling across a book that would help push him towards the thing he wanted the most. "The Basic Guide To The Astral Path" This book may not of been special to anyone in the long run but, it was to him because, it was his new beginning. With this new path available to him would he be able to push through all the obstacles and hardships waiting for him or in the end will he stumble and fall? Or will people be there to catch him if he does once again?

Voice Fading Away

Shaking his head he saw a couple Astral Beasts in the distance fighting each other. "Best to just leave them alone." They hadn't seen many Astral Beasts along their journey for some reason and while he was also a bit curious as to why they were fighting it was better to just ignore them. "Too bad it wasn't another person." With that lingering in the back of his mind he started walking in a different direction while signaling Relia and Xelfia.

"It's just a couple beasts, Let's get going."

Not receiving any replies all he could hear was the sound of their footsteps behind him confirming they were following him. Switching her vision between Xilo and Relia, Xelfia followed near them as she watched Relia stare at Xilo's back. "Poor thing." Looking at all the scars that lined her face Xelfia still couldn't get used to seeing it. "We should be out of here soon so maybe we can actually help treat them. Plus we still need to talk, He better not think I forgot." Staring right at XIlo's back Xelfia joined Relia as Xilo felt a slight shiver run down his back.

"Still cold out..." Watching the trees pass them by as a light breeze travelled along the three of them continued to walk until eventually Xilo saw an opening in the distance. "Is that an exit?" They had been walking for hours on end now so it would be nice if that were the case. Picking up the pace a bit he began to feel an impatient itch in his body as they approached the opening. "Please." With the setting sun getting in his eyes he blinked a couple times as he got used to it before finally stepping out of the trees into a large open field that went on forever.

"Are we out?"

Hearing the girls behind him leave along with Xelfia's voice he nodded as he looked back.

"It seems so. That over there looks like a road as well. So it should lead somewhere hopefully."

"Hopefully."

"....."

Off in the distance he saw what looked like a road made out of dirt that led in to separate directions to who knows where but he didn't care. "Finally." They were almost to a point where they could take a break and no longer have to worry about anything. With the same amount of impatience as before Xilo sprinted towards the path a little ways away as he tried to choose a direction to follow it in. "Left seems to be a giant mountain so it's doubtful a town or anything of the like is near there so we should probably go left since nothing seems to be that way." Besides the open field of grass and flowers scattered about along with an occasional tree there was nothing there besides them and a few animals.

"Let's go right and see where it takes us?"

'Fine by me."

"...Nn..."

Hearing one agreement and another sound of what he thought was agreement, Xilo started to travel down the path. In a couple of hours the sun would probably be gone from the sky but if a town wasn't too far away it shouldn't be too big a deal and if need be Xilo didn't mind spending another night under the sky if he absolutely had to. Unfortunately though that seemed to be the case as nothing appeared in their sight as they walked on but emptiness. "Looks like it will be one more night..." With the sun almost gone now and with Relia starting to slow down he knew they needed to take a break. Luckily there were a couple trees out in the distance that were perfect for spending the night under.

"Alright we'll stop here. It's better to be off the main road so lets go over there."

Following along Relia felt her head getting worse as the voices got louder and more violent. "Stop..." All day she had a headache that constantly throbbed causing her to stumble in her steps once in a while but she couldn't do anything about it. Thankfully she had gone unnoticed from Xilo and Xelfia it seemed so that was good. "I don't want to worry anyone else..." She had also found that whenever she looked at Xilo she always felt a little better though it didn't completely go away. "Weird...No one el- No there was one." Her old friend was also similar to XIlo in that aspect. looking at them caused her pain to seem a little less but besides those two she never felt it with anyone else not even Xelfia though some people made it worse. "What is wrong with you." Halting for a second hearing that voice she tried to push it away.

"I don't know." Ever since she was born she had been like this with no control over any of it and it only got worse as she got older. Hearing so many voices in her head fighting and yelling she felt like one day her own voice would just be drowned out by all of it as she was slowly consumed and that feeling had been getting stronger in the last few months. "But....Do I want to disappear?" However no matter how hard she thought about it, she couldn't find out the answer. "At least tomorrow it will be better." At least after days like this the voices calmed down giving her much needed break. "....What even am I." Thinking That she silently sat down against one of the trees Xilo had chosen and continued to stare at him as the night went on.

"Am I even myself anymore?"

That was one question that she didn't have the answer to. So many times she had felt like a completely different person that she didn't even know who she was anymore. "I hate this...." as the voices got louder though eventually she could no longer even hear her own thoughts. All that she could do was suffer in silence now and wait until she eventually fell asleep
