As Jerald saw his efforts bloom with satisfying results, he is now more relaxed and confident about facing more challenges ahead.
"Never have I thought in my 20 years of gaming that I would ever feel this happy for only leveling up to Lv-3," Jerald said while laying down his tired, worn, and blood-covered body on the hard ground.
"Giya, I will be taking a short rest for now; if any danger is about to approach me, please wake me up." Jerald then closed his eyes and began snoring from fatigue, sleeping like a young child and not caring for anything else. Giya then guarded Jerald, who was currently taking a nap from exhaustion, ready to alert Jerald if any incoming danger was near.
An hour passed, and Jerald woke up after having the best sleep he had since coming into this world that is full of dangerous monsters. Jerald then got up and began his exploration of the vast cave, trying to find the way out of this endless darkness. An hour passed in an instant, and Jerald is yet to get out of this very dark cave.
"Huh, what!? How the heck did I end up going back here again? It feels like I'm just walking in circles at this point," Jerald said whilst looking at his surroundings, in which he still saw the bloody corpse of the ground rat.
"Giya, do you have a map function I can use to track myself inside this cave?" Jerald said in desperation, having no more ideas of how to get out of the dark cave.
<You do have a map, but it only shows the places and locations you already explored; for I am not omniscient in this world, we will to travel across cave before making complete map.>
"Jerald then sighs and tries to think of a way to get out of this dark cave. Jerald then continues to walk, only to end up in the same position for the past 2 hours. As time goes by, Jerald begins to get hungry from walking and exploring endlessly.
"Ahhhh! I can't take this anymore. I need that fresh sunlight touching my skin as soon as possible! Even as a shut-in gamer, I still have a regular routine of basking myself outside in the sunlight and touching some grass, unlike some other guys out there!" Jerald screams in annoyance.
"Huh, I wish I could eat some burgers and pizza right now," Jerald said with a hint of drool running down his chin. As Jerald begins to think of many sorts of delicious food in his mind, he becomes more hungry and desperate for food. Jerald then slowly takes a glance at the bloody corpse of the Huge Ground rat, which has a pool of drool pouring from his mouth.
"I must be crazy to even think of eating this thing!" while Jerald said that with disgust and hate, he still kept on staring at the lifeless corpse of the monster while salivating.
"If only I can cook that, maybe, just maybe it can become even just a little bit more edible." Jerald gulps and begins to find a way to cook the monster's corpse.
"Oh yeah, I still have the Apprentice magic tome on my inventory; maybe I can learn some basic fire magic to start a fire to cook it on or something."
Jerald then takes out the Apprentice magic tome out of his inventory and opens it. Inside, he sees a short background about magic, and it makes Jerald curious and excited about how he can wield magic that he couldn't use in his past. Its contents are the following:
----------------------------------
Apprentice Mana Tome: Volume 1
Author: Mark Haven
Topic: Mana Theory
"Mana, a source of curiosity of many mages and wizards throughout the centuries and millennium, mana is a mysterious power that has made us mortal beings to what we are today, it can enable living beings with mana to manipulate the natural forces of the universe. To understand such a profound subject and power, we must first understand how it works.
----------------------------------
"AHHHH! Why the heck is it so long? Do I need to read all of this? Can't I just absorb its knowledge or something?" Jerald complained about why the book and its contents are so long.
<To understand magic, you should learn the fundamentals on your own, but I can help and make an abridged version that directly send to mind, understanding learning it will be left solely for you.>
Jerald then let's out a deep sigh and frowned upon hearing this, "Can't it just be like in the video games or manga's where they instantly learn it from their system? Is there no other way for you to do it to me too?"
<I'm very sorry I am unable to provide your needs properly; have failed do the only and reason of my existence that is satisfy help you...> As Giya begins to self-pity itself, Jerald then feels extremely sorry for belittling Giya's efforts and worth.
"No, actually, you are the best system there is for me; you can talk to me, and unlike other systems, you can think for yourself and act like a real companion; you even comforted me when I was feeling down once, and further more I wouldn't have last this long if it wasn't for you, so don't be discouraged, okay?" Jerald feeling pitiful, was trying to lift up Giya's pride to itself and giving it the recognition and praise it needs and deserve.
Giya then sends an emoticon, < Okay ^-^">
Jerald then proceeds to sit in a lotus form and begins to focus: "Giya, please start sending it to me."
As Giya processes the book into a digital-like form, it enters Jerald's mind, and a huge amount of knowledge then pours inside of Jerald's mind, which made him feel a slight pinch of pain but not enough for him to scream or break his focus.
