Pokemon Alternate Universe Adventures

A man from an Earth gets the choice to start over in any Universe and chooses an Alternate Pokemon Universe. Let us see if his journey to the top is succesful and the impact he will have on his new world. Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures Inc. I just use their sandbox for the plot of my MC and my OCs. This will be a "slow" paced story, in fact it's "super slow paced", so please don't expect the MC to directly start his journey in 20 chapters or so, actually multiply that by like 15. A lot is going to happen before that happens. The first 10-20 chapters or so are information heavy, depending on what kind of reader you are. I try to keep my chapter length between 2000 and 3000 words per chapter. My release rate is 4 chapter/week for now. I have a patre*n for those that want to support me with access to some advance chapters as a thank you. patre*n.com/Azrail93 This is an alternate pokemon universe so there will be differences to the games, manga and anime. So if something in the story is different it is most likely on purpose. The original sources are seen as suggestions not laws. Differences can be: Type variants, evolution conditions, strength mechanics, world building and more. If I am at some point asking for reader input I will do so but otherwise I will ignore most suggestions. So please don't spam things like catch this pokemon or do that next. I have my plot planned and external input will be considered when asked for. If I see a suggestion that I believe fit my plot flow I will use it and will credit the commentor. Comments on spelling and grammar mistakes are welcome. I will try to correct said mistakes with time. Constructive criticism will be read and considered. Insult and hate comments will be ignored or deleted depending on severity. Readers naturally can comment their dislike but one worders will be ignored. If the reason for the dislike is explained I will read it. Like previously mentioned pure insults and hate comments will be ignored or deleted. The same is true for simple hate reviews or insulting ones. Reviews complaining about something I warned about, such as the slow pace, will be deleted as well.

CH126 (740), Another Eggsperiment

As soon as I entered Utopia with the box, Utopia began analyzing the eggs and generated a nesting ground for them, which I had Utopia move to the center of the habitat created for the Hisuian Typhlosion. I made sure that on top of the energy deemed the most appropriate for a regular Cyndaquil egg, the energy of the habitat was also able to enter the nesting ground in a ratio that Utopia deemed harmless to the eggs.

I first considered setting a ratio myself, but then decided to leave it up to Utopia which would allow Utopia to change the ratio depending on the situation of the individual eggs. It was honestly much easier that way and ensured that I did not need to keep a constant eye on the nest/eggs. Anyway, as usual, Utopia did not mess with the eggs themselves until the hatching, so after giving the Pokemon that were still watching videos a small wave in greeting, I teleported over to the newly created nesting ground with the box still in my arm.

I carefully set the box down on the ground before taking a seat in front of it to open it. After opening the top, I saw 4 incubators with eggs inside along with a paper/note that was placed on top of the incubators. Thinking back to what Peter said I was pretty sure that it was Professor Oak who placed the note in there, so I took the paper and read it. It was no wonder Peter refused to talk about the payment issue citing that he was only the delivery guy in this case and that I had to talk with Professor Oak about it. Professor Oak probably told him to say that.

In the note Professor Oak informed me that he made sure that the eggs were of a good pedigree and that the center that provided them generally produced Cyndaquil of either 4 or 5-star potential that were used as starter Pokemon by the alliance, so mine were guaranteed to fall into that range as well, which was the best he, or anyone for that matter, could do since the potential of an unhatched Pokemon/egg could not be determined until the Pokemon had hatched.

The Professor also made sure that neither of the 4 eggs came from the same family, so in case I got lucky and one of the Cyndaquil ended up being a female, I could allow them to get together without having to worry about them being siblings or half-siblings. He also mentioned that, as I had requested, the eggs were as young as possible, which in this case meant a month old, and that was solely due to me being a (Junior) Professor since I would have received 3-month-old eggs at best if that had not been the case.

The final part of the note addressed the matter of the payment for the 4 eggs. The Professor mentioned that he had covered the payment for me, and told me not to worry about paying me back since he would simply take half of my dividends until I had covered the amount he paid. I was not worried about Professor Oak trying to take advantage of me for obvious reasons, so I simply acknowledged that and considered the matter/exchange as concluded.

Once I was sure that I had not missed anything, I simply stored the note away in the Professor Oak folder in my study before focusing on the four incubators in front of me. I took out one of the incubators and opened its lid before removing the egg from it. I then used my observe ability to check the egg as I placed it into one of the spots specially created by Utopia for the eggs.

I was just happy that my observe ability had improved so much since my arrival on Terra that it allowed me to actually see the current potential of an egg this fresh since I couldn't do so before it underwent multiple upgrades. I still vividly remember my observe ability being unable to show me some egg's potential due to the Pokemon inside being too undeveloped which made its potential too "fluid"/undetermined.

'Species: Cyndaquil

Gender: Male

Type: Fire

Potential: Deep Green

Stage: None, PokeEgg

(Genetic) Modifiers: None

Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire

Talents: None

Affinities: Fire'

Now, I could see the Pokemon's initial potential even if it was still in its fluctuating phase, and while there was still the risk that the potential could decline by a grade or even two, I did not think that Utopia would let it come to that. It had undergone quite a few upgrades as well after all. Anyway, the Professor had said that their potential would range from 4 to 5 stars, and deep green definitely fell into that range. In fact, deep green was already pretty good when we considered that there were at least 9 months until it hatched even if we took Utopia's acceleration into account, which meant that the egg/Cyndaquil had that much time to raise its potential to light blue.

Thanks to the fact that eggs had an easier time increasing their potential along with the freshness of this quartet that scenario was rather likely to happen. In fact, there was even a chance that Cyndaquil might reach blue potential by the time he hatched. Not that it wouldn't reach that point anyway since once the Cyndaquil had hatched, he would undergo Utopia's optimization raising his potential even further, so this Cyndaquil was pretty much guaranteed to have his potential raised to blue. That already felt much more impressive right?

Regardless, I moved back to the box and took out the next incubator. I repeated that process and ended up being a bit surprised by this one.

'Species: Cyndaquil

Gender: Male

Type: Fire

Potential: Blue

Stage: None, PokeEgg

(Genetic) Modifiers: None

Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire

Talents: Flame Body

Affinities: Fire'

The Cyndaquil inside this egg already had the potential the other one would most likely have at the end while he was still at the starting line. Not only that, but he also had a talent. Granted it was a rather "mundane" one that mirrored its namesake ability Flame Body, but that did not change the fact that he did have a useful talent. Still, the fact that Cyndaquil had a very good chance to end up with light purple potential once he hatched was quite a bit more attention-grabbing to me. I seriously hoped that he would be the one who ended up successfully fulfilling my expectations with this eggsperiment. Well, unless there was an even more impressive egg among the final two.

I did not feel like walking back to the box again, so I levitated it over instead and took out the third incubator. I removed the egg and placed it in its designated spot after checking it out.

'Species: Cyndaquil

Gender: Female

Type: Fire

Potential: Light Blue

Stage: None, PokeEgg

(Genetic) Modifiers: None

Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire

Talents: None

Affinities: Fire'

I could not help but smile happily when I saw that this Cyndaquil was actually female. Not only was she one of the rare females but even her potential was pretty great. Seeing this light blue female made me at least as happy as the talented blue male before her since it meant that the future Cyndaquil generations were secured, though speaking about something that was nearly a decade or so away might be a bit too soon.

Anyway, I moved on to the final incubator and placed the last egg in the place prepared by Utopia as well. I naturally checked it out as well, and honestly seeing that it had deep green potential as well, I had to say that I got pretty lucky with this batch.

'Species: Cyndaquil

Gender: Male

Type: Fire

Potential: Deep Green

Stage: None, PokeEgg

(Genetic) Modifiers: None

Abilities: Blaze, Flash Fire

Talents: None

Affinities: Fire'

Professor Oak might have said that they would be either 4 or 5-star eggs, but 4-star potential ranged from light green to deep green; The fact that I was lucky enough for half of them to be 5-star eggs while the 4-star ones were at the top even among those was extraordinary. Was it me who was lucky since these were my eggs, or was it Professor Oak who was lucky since he was the one who got ahold of them for me? Well, ultimately, all that counted was that they ended up with me I guess.

Regardless, I took out my phone and sent a message to Professor Oak that I had gotten the eggs. I also added a thank you before putting the phone away again. Next up I teleported to my potions lab since I had to prepare the nourishing salves for the Cyndaquil eggs. That was why I moved them to their nesting spots by hand in the first place to get an actual feel for the shape they were in. Touching them directly helped with that.

It was one of the reasons I did not prepare the salves during the last few days, along with the fact that I was not sure what their exact potential would be along with their actual "age". Now that I knew all that, I could start working on the nourishing salves for regular Cyndaquil eggs. I was not planning to mess with any ghost stuff in the salves until the eggs were at least 4 months old. Until then the slight spectral energy Utopia would allow to enter the nesting ground from the habitat would be the only ghost stuff that would come in to contact with the eggs.

I spent slightly more than two hours creating a batch of salves that would suffice for all 4 eggs for the next month. Once I was done I paid the nesting ground another visit and applied the salve I made on all 4 eggs before leaving again. By this time, the others had already stopped watching videos online and started their second training session of the day. I went ahead and oversaw their training and once the session was over I began to massage the ones that had yet to get a turn.

Aside from a dinner pause, I continued the massage session until 11 p.m., only stopping an hour before midnight to spend an hour with everyone simply relaxing. Shortly after midnight, I went to bed. The next morning, I went to the breakfast meeting with Kinji and his girlfriend after handing over everyone's breakfast. The duo left Brightwick City after our little meet-up, and I contemplated doing the same while I was supervising the rest of everyone's morning training session after going back inside Utopia.

I had not forgotten about the Sceptile tribe Phantump had mentioned and now that I was done with Brightwick City and its Gym, I could head there without any worry just like I had planned to do ever since I heard about it from Phantump. Decision made I waited until the end of the training session to share the news with everyone else. I requested Phantump to lead me there and he tapped his chest and promised to do so. I smiled at him before leaving Utopia with Mothra/Butterfree chilling on my head.

Mothra Teleported us to Phantump's old place, and I let him out of Utopia once we made it there, together with Nyx/Umbreon and Thor/Raichu. Hades/Gengar had already settled inside my shadow before I left Utopia with Mothra, so there were 5 of us in total. Once Phantump had calmed down after getting excited due to noticing the familiar surroundings, I told him to lead the way, and I had him use a pace that he could keep up the longest, which ended up being a leisurely pace of roughly 30 km/h.

I remembered Phantump mentioning that it took him around 20 days of traveling at this pace for 6 hours per day to reach the Sceptile territory, so even if we doubled the travel time per day, it would still take us 10 days to reach the place if we went on to travel at this speed. While I did not mind traveling for so long, doing so at a speed like this which was too slow to speed things up, but too fast for our usual travel speed allowing for proper Pokemon/trainer encounters was not what I would consider enjoyable, so I decide to change things up after the lunch break.
