Hurik town, a small distance from the prosperous Celadon city.
A young boy woke up groggily in the middle of the local orphanage. He looked around, in a daze and seemingly baffled by the small room with a bunch of Pokemon posters.
He could see a Venasaur, Charizard, Blastoise Seadra, Machamp and a bunch of others in various poses, with people in a bunch of different poses behind them.
"Where am I? This room and these posters look so weird. The Pokemon and the people look so real. Definitely not animated or CGI. Are these some fan-made posters? If they are, they should have been very popular, considering how fabulous they look. How come I didn't hear about them in the thousands of Pokemon fan groups I am a part of?" wondered the boy.
He stepped down from the bed he was sleeping on. It seemed to be a bunk bed, with another bed below it. He figured that out as he fell face-first towards the floor after trying to step into thin air.
"Aargh," he screamed as fell down with a thud. He put his hands on his aching nose, which felt like it was broken. He could feel the blood on his very tiny fingers.
"Why do my fingers feel so small? And the same goes for my face. This does not seem to be the hands or face of a 29-year-old man. This feels like that of a child" he thought.
Suddenly he held shuffling outside the door, after which it was flung open. A boy who looked to be about 10 charged in, looked at the bleeding boy on the floor in horror, and raced out yelling "Sir, Sir, Alex is up, but he is down, and bleeding. I think he is dying, HELP!"
"Dude, I just broke my nose, who the hell is dying" murmured the boy and tried to get up.
Leaning against the wall and trying to block the pain he was feeling from his nose, he tried to get his bearings. He was in a small room with two bunk beds and a bunch of Pokemon posters on the wall. There were a bunch of toys and trinkets scattered around that all seemed to be Pokemon based. He was wearing what seemed to be a T-shirt with a dancing Charmander on it, and wearing brown pants. He was definitely not looking like a 29-year-old, but more like a 9 or 10-year-old kid.
"Did I reincarnate or something? I remember a short circuit computer and me getting zapped, and nothing after that. I reincarnated somewhere where Pokemon is very loved, that much is certain" he thought. He then looked down at his tiny body and thought, "It sucks to be 10ish again. But oh well, maybe this time I can get a useful degree, and maybe get in on the ground floor of some entrepreneurship. Maybe I can use the knowledge I already have to be some sort of genius child and live happily ever after"
He then clutched his head and tried to recall anything he could about the boy he had now become. He kept drawing a blank. But when he focused for a few seconds he could feel a pitch-black sphere in his mind. When he focused on it, he could feel the memories of the past of the body he currently was in. His name was Alex Burns, from Hurik town. His parents died when he was very young and he lived in the local orphanage ever since. He was nine and a half. He was preparing for a very important examination he would have to take in less than half a year. This examination was very important and considered his best chance at having a better life.
More footsteps could be heard outside the door as he was pondering, and a middle-aged ordinary-looking man came in, followed by a young woman with dark pink hair. He could vaguely see a bunch of kids crowding being them, but the man closed the door behind him and approached me.
"Ah, I see you are up Alex. I was getting rather worried about you as you had not been awake since yesterday and had such a high fever. I called someone over to look at you but you seem to have woken up. It also looks like you had a nasty fall. Did you forget you sleep on the top bunk?" said the man after which he proceeded to put his hand on the boy's forehead.
"The fever seems to have subsided. But your nose needs fixing now. Never mind, as Nurse Joy and Chansey can heal you up, since they are here anyway" he continued.
"Nurse Joy? Chansey?' questioned the boy, very confused. He then proceed to look at the familiar yet unfamiliar pink-haired woman in a white uniform and the familiar yet unfamiliar round pink Pokemon that had at some point appeared behind the nurse.
"Chansey" it greeted warmly, waving its small hand.
The boy took a good long look at the pink round Pokemon, before promptly proceeding to black out.
He left behind two bewildered people and a confused Chancey.
