Ch. 19 - Nugget Bridge

After telling me about Bill, Blue went his own way.

'Well, that was a bummer. I already know about Bill. I just didn't know that he was also known as PokeManiac.'

"Oh, well" saying that, I continued on with the grind.

After fighting the Horde, I chose to go back to the Pokemon Center to get my Pokemon healed, since Bellsprout fainted during the battle against Blue, and Charmeleon was also low on HP.

While returning, I encountered a Sandshrew, which I defeated easily, and made my way to the Pokemon Center.

After healing my Pokemon, I was about to return back to 'Route 4' when a sudden idea came to my mind.

'Why don't I try the Bridge challenge on 'Route 24', which is to the north of 'Cerulean City'?' I thought.

'But the problem is, the Pokemon that I will face will be high level, and I would have to make multiple trips to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon after every battle or so.'

'Another problem is that I should only have about an hour or so of time left in the Pokemon world.'

'What to do? Should I continue grinding on 'Route 4' with low-level Pokemon or try the bridge challenge to gain EXP and money but waste time making trips to the Pokemon Center?'

"Why waste time thinking?"

'I need to do the challenge anyway when I need to go to Bill's house, and I can also gain access to the tall grass on 'Route 24', where I can grind for high-level Pokemon and, if possible, catch some decent Pokemon too.' I thought as I started heading toward the north of 'Cerulean City'.

Shortly after, I was in front of a beautiful bridge that stretched across a river.

On the bridge, there were five NPCs ready to challenge anyone who came into their line of sight.

Wasting no time, I moved in front of the first NPC.

"People call this the Nugget Bridge. Beat us five Trainers and win a fabulous Prize."

"Think you got what it takes?" said the NPC.

<Fury Swipes>, a gamble move, where the target is attacked two to five times. The number of attacks is random and based on luck.

I chose to forget <Leer >, since it is currently the most useless move, and all the other moves are important for the future.

Most of the Opponent's Pokemon fainted after one move and couldn't do much damage to my Pokemon, so I didn't need to go to the Pokemon Center.

Moving forward, I came in front of the second NPC.

"I'm second. Now it's serious."

While fighting Bellsprout, it used <Poison Powder> move on Magikarp, which caused Poison to Magikarp.

Since my main objective is to level up Magikarp, and if it faints then it would be for nothing.

So, after completing the second battle, I made a trip to the Pokemon Center.

While on the way, I checked my PokeDEX to see how much time I had left.

'I still had about 30 minutes left. I could complete the challenge if I don't spend my time making any more trips to Pokemon Center.' Thinking that, I quickly moved in front of the third NPC.

"Now that I remember, I need to try that 'Infinite Nugget' trick."

The 'Infinite Nugget' trick is an exploit where the player, after defeating all five NPCs on the bridge, talks to the Team Rocket Grunt, who gives the player a Golden Nugget and then offers the player to join Team Rocket.

Since there is no option of accepting the offer of joining Team Rocket, the player rejects the offer, which in turn angers the Team Rocket Grunt, who then challenges the player.

After the battle with the Team Rocket Grunt, the player can carry on with his journey, but if the player loses to the Team Rocket Grunt, then the next time the player talks to the Team Rocket Grunt, a glitch will occur where the Team Rocket Grunt will again give a Golden Nugget to the player and ask to join Team Rocket.

This is what the 'Infinite Nugget' trick is where the player will repetitively lose to the Team Rocket Grunt and get a Golden Nugget every time.

"I wonder if it is possible to perform the 'Infinite Nugget' trick in this world. Since this world strictly follows the Pokemon game rules, maybe it is possible to do it."

'I'll need to first remove all the Pokemon from my team and have only one weak Pokemon on the team, which would be easily defeated, So as to not take much of my time every battle.'

I turned back and made my way to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon and put them in the PC Box.

After healing my Pokemon, I made my way to the PC but before I could reach the PC, I was back in the real world.

"Sigh, I was so immersed in my thoughts that I didn't realize that my time was almost out." I groaned as I got up from my bed.

Checking my phone for today's day, which is 'Sunday'.

'It has already been 7 days since I came to this world. Time sure flies by.' I thought.

I chose not to go to my part-time job and celebrate, as today marks my 7 days in this world.

"You know what? It will be boring to just celebrate alone." I said as I picked up my phone and called a number.

[Me - Hello...]

[Unknown - Hey, What's up....? It's rare for you to call me that too, so early in the morning.]

[Me - Nothing, I was thinking of celebrating something, and it would be lonely for me to celebrate alone.]

[Unknown - So...?]

[Me - So, I was hoping that you could come by, and we can celebrate together, go to some restaurant or something. Of course, it's my treat.]

[Unknown - ....]

[Me - Hello...? you there...?]

[Unknown - Ah, Yes]

[Me - So, What do you say...?]

[Unknown - Yes, I can come.]

[Me - Perfect]

[Unknown - Who else is going to be there...?]

[Me - Who else...? No one else other than Me and You]

Quickly check the time on my phone, which is almost 3 PM.

Hanging up the call, I checked the internet for some interesting places and restaurants to visit near me.

Before I knew it, an hour had already passed. Getting up I quickly took a shower and dressed up nicely.

Though I didn't have any fancy clothes, I put on casual wear which aligns with modern trends.

Taking one last look in the mirror and adjusting my clothes, I exited my apartment and went outside of the apartment building.

I stood in front of the building, waiting while using my phone to pass the time.

"Dipper."

Soon, I heard a voice calling my name. I looked up from my phone, and there stood the person that I was waiting for.
