Ch. 18 - Cerulean City

Right in front of me was a sign that read:

<Mt. Moon - Cerulean City>
"Finally, I am out of that dark tunnel. Now I just need to get to cross 'Route 4' and reach 'Cerulean City'."
'Route 4' didn't have much tall grass, and the area was relatively empty. While on my way, I saw two NPCs' clothes similar to a martial artists.
Approaching one of them, I interacted with the one on the left first.
"A punch of roaring ferocity. Packed with destructive power."
"When the chips are down, <Mega Punch> is the Ultimate attack."
"You agree, yes?"
"Now! Let me teach it to your Pokemon."
[<Yes > <No >]
Just as I clicked <Yes >, I received a TM.

"Now, we are comrades in the way of punching."
"You should go before you're seen by the misguided fool who trains only his silly kicking over there." said the NPC, pointing to the other NPC.
I interacted with the other NPC, and a similar thing happened as he gave me a TM too.

After receiving TM for both NPCs, I continued making my way to the city.

While exploring the path, I found TM of <Mega Drain>, which is a very useful move that heals the user of half the damage taken by the opponent.
All three TMs that I found on 'Route 4' were very powerful moves that would be a huge help in the future.
After walking for a while, I was at the end of 'Route 4' where a small section of Tall Grass was located.
Moving through the tall grass, I successfully reached 'Cerulean City'.

Quickly scanning my surroundings, I located the Pokémon Center and immediately entered to get my Pokémon healed.
'Now that I have reached 'Cerulean City', What should be my next step?'
I pondered over my options and decided to focus on leveling up my Magikarp until it evolves, then challenge the Cerulean City Gym.
After healing my Pokemon, I made my way back to the 'Route 4' to grind.

Upon seeing the notification, I decided to forget the move <Ember > and learn <Fire Fang> in its place.

While I was grinding, I didn't notice someone approaching from behind.
"Yo, Dipper!" said the unidentified person.
Startled by the voice calling my name, I turned around to find Blue standing there.
"I'm surprised you've already reached 'Cerulean City'." Blue said.
"Yeah, I just got here. What about you? When did you get here?" I asked Blue.
"I got here yesterday and was training with my Pokemon on the north side of 'Cerulean City'. Caught a bunch of strong and smart Pokemon too." Blue replied.
"Here, let's see what you caught." said Blue as he challenged me to a Pokemon Battle.

Considering the quest description, I pressed <Accept >.
After accepting the quest, I also accept the Pokemon Battle challenge.

Blue sent out his Abra to face off against my Magikarp.

I switched Magikarp to Bellsprout while Blue also withdrew his Abra and sent out his Wartortle.

Wartortle Lv. 18 - 100%
Wartortle used <Bite >, which dealt 16 HP, while I chose to use <Sleep Powder>, causing Wartortle to fall asleep.

I then used <Vine Whip>, which was super effective, while Wartortle was unable to perform its move because it was asleep.

Continuing with <Vine Whip>, I dealt significant damage.

With another <Vine Whip>, I brought Wartortle down.

After Wartortle, Blue sent out his Pidgey.

Pidgey used <Gust >, which was super effective, taking 18 HP, while I chose to go with the same tactic and used <Sleep Powder>.

Pidgey Lv. 17 <Asleep > - 100%
I followed up with <Acid >, reducing Pidgey's HP significantly.

Another <Acid > attack brought Pidgey's HP down further to almost single digits.

With a final <Acid > attack, I knocked out Pidgey.

The next Pokemon that Blue sent was a Rattata.

Rattata used <Bite >, knocking down Bellsprout's HP to 8, while I chose to use <Sleep Powder>. But It seems that the same tactic wouldn't always work as Rattata avoided the move.

Now that Bellsprout only had the last bit of HP left, I know that since Rattat's speed is higher than Bellsprout its move will be executed first which will completely knock out all the remaining HP of Bellsprout.
So whatever move I chose, It wouldn't have any effect.
Using <Bite >, Rattata knocked out my Bellsprout.

After Bellsprout finted, I chose Charmeleon.

Rattata Lv. 15 - 100%
Rattata used <Quick Attack>, but it didn't do much damage to Charmeleon. I chose to go with <Fire Fang>, nearly knocking out Rattata.

Again, It used <Quick Attack> and I used <Fire Fang> completely knocking it out.

After Rattata, the last Pokemon that Blue had was Abra.

I chose to use <Fire Fang> which one hit kill the Abra.

"You've improved yourself." I replied.
"But I still lose to you. The next time we meet, I will definitely beat you."
"We'll see about that." I said.
"Well, I better get rolling. Smell ya later!" said Blue as he started heading towards the 'Cerulean City'.
But after walking for some distance he turned around and came back to me.
"Oh, yeah, right. I forgot to tell you." said Blue.
"While training on the north side of Cerulean City, I heard that BILL lives around here. He's a world-famous inventor and a PokeManiac."
"He invented the Pokemon Storage System on PC too."
"I'm thinking of going to BILL's and getting him to show me his rare Pokemon. That'll add a lot of pages to my PokeDEX."
"Since you're also in 'Cerulean City', you should go to BILL's place, maybe you'll find something interesting."
"And be sure to thank him since you're using his system."
"All right, this time I really am gone. Smell ya" said Blue as he went away.
After telling me about Bill, Blue went his own way.
'Well, that was a bummer, I already know about Bill. I just didn't know that he was also known as PokeManiac.'
"Oh, well" saying that, I continue on with the grind.
