Strategy for dealing with annoying people

I followed the two of them to the other side of town. The men on horses looked like soilders. "Crash!" One of the men purposely ran into Miya. I ran over to catch her without thinking. Great... Now everyone is staring at me. "What gives you the right to block our path?! Get out of the way while we're still asking kindly!" If that's a 'kind' attitude then I must be saint! Miya got up. "I'm very sorry for blocking your path, but I can not let anyone into the village due to a infectious disease that has rencently spread to our village." Right after Miya said that someone in a nearby house started coughing. I see, so they had a plan, but isn't this too fake? "All right then, I guess we can stay at another village," one of the men said while turning his horse. Really?! They bought that? "Miya's parents are scholars, they don't want to deal with her parents," Kiyo said probably because she could see that I was confused.

"Thanks for catching me earlier." "You're welcome. I'm sorry for eavesdropping earlier," I replied. "No, it's alright. You still need a play to stay right? Kiyo has an extra room you could borrow." Kiyo nodded as a way of agreeing. "Alright, I'll take up your offer, thanks!"
