Oshi No Ko: Duet of Destinies

Orphanage walls whispered loneliness, but in Akira Ueno's heart burned a hunger for the spotlight. His voice, his moves were his only weapons against a world that saw him as invisible. Talent shows and underground gigs became his battlefields, fueled by dreams of escape and a desperate need to be seen. Whispers of record labels and fame swirled, a tantalizing glimmer just beyond his grasp. But fate took a cruel turn. A blinding flash, a truck, then darkness. Yet, a warm voice whispers a second chance, a new world. Transmigrated into the world of Oshi no Ko, Akira now holds the keys to potential stardom. Can he navigate this new path, and with a certain rising idol, discover how to love and be true to themselves? ====== Some more information before you hop into the fic: This book is very much inspired by the movie Yesterday and a fanfic I read: The Betrayed Hero and the Idol, but I want to keep the supernatural stuff to a minimum. Also, Akira will be using songs from this world as they don't exist in the world of Oshi No Ko. Akira is a performer, not a songwriter and the only one who would know the songs are not his is him. For full transparency I write the novel myself and use AI to proofread and be an editor for my work. I am more familiar with pop and rnb music so that is what I will be using most likely Since the timeline in OnK is confusing, I am going to go ahead and make my own: Ai Birthday: Jan 25, 2002 Akira Birthday: June 11, 2002 Aqua and Ruby birthday: April 28, 2018 Date when Akira Transmigrates: October 3, 2019

Rising Together

November 22, 2019

The music pulsed through the studio, the beat so loud I could feel it in my bones. We moved in unison, our bodies in sync, but the tension in the room was palpable. Every step, every note, had to be perfect. We couldn't afford a single misstep, not with so much riding on this performance.

I could see it in the faces of my teammates - the determination, the exhaustion, the fear. Kenji's jaw was clenched so tight I thought his teeth might shatter. Haruto's usually fluid movements were stiff, his focus laser-sharp. Even Satoru, always the jokester, had a serious set to his mouth, his eyes fixated on his own reflection in the mirror.

We were pushing ourselves to the limit, to the brink of breaking. But we had to. We had to prove that we were more than Jiro's words, more than the doubts and the criticism.

As the song ended, I held my final pose, my chest heaving, sweat dripping into my eyes. For a moment, there was silence, the only sound our labored breathing.

Then Takeshi clapped his hands, his face unreadable. "Again," he said simply.

I bit back a groan, my muscles screaming in protest as we took our starting positions once more. But I couldn't show weakness, not now.

Even as my body moved through the choreography, my mind was racing. I thought of Ai, of the quiet understanding in her eyes when I'd shown up at her door, drained and doubting. She hadn't pushed, hadn't pried. She'd simply held me, her presence a silent reassurance.

But I couldn't lean on her, not the way I wanted to. She had her own battles to fight, her own career to navigate. I couldn't add to her burdens, couldn't risk distracting her from her own path.

We ran the routine again. And again. Each time, Takeshi found something to critique, some tiny detail to perfect.

"Akira, watch your timing on the second verse. Haruto, more energy in that last chorus. Satoru, tighten up that formation."

I could feel the frustration building, the exhaustion taking its toll. But we couldn't stop. We wouldn't stop. Not until it was perfect.

The hours ticked by, the sun sinking low in the sky. My limbs felt like lead, my throat raw from singing. But still, we pushed on.

Finally, as the last notes of the song faded away, Takeshi nodded. "Good. That's enough for today."

It was a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

As we gathered our things, preparing to leave, I caught Kenji's eye. He gave me a small nod, a silent acknowledgment of all we'd been through, all we still had to face.

I returned the nod. This was my team, my family.

The showcase, the interview... they were our chance. Our chance to show the world who we were, what we were made of.

And we were ready. Ready to rise, to soar.

No matter what it took.

[Ai's POV]

I stared at the phone in my hand, my heart racing. The director's words echoed in my mind.

A movie. A leading role. For me.

It was everything I wanted, the chance to take my career to the next level. But...

I glanced around the apartment, at the photos of Ruby and Aqua smiling from the walls. They were my world, my everything. Could I really balance a movie shoot with being a single mother? With my idol career?

And then there was the financial side. The director had been upfront - it was a low-budget film, the pay wouldn't be much. Could I afford to take the risk?

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door opening, Akira's tired figure stepping into the hallway.

"I'm home," he called out, his voice weary.

But before I could respond, the patter of little feet filled the air. "Akira!" Ruby squealed, launching herself at him.

In an instant, Akira's demeanor shifted. The exhaustion melted away, replaced by a warm smile as he scooped Ruby up into a hug. "Hey there, little star! How was your day?"

As they chattered away, Aqua emerging from his room to join in the lively reunion, I felt a swell of affection. This man, who gave so much of himself, who loved my children as his own...

"Ai? Is everything okay?" Akira's voice cut through my thoughts, concern etched on his face.

I realized I'd been staring, the phone still clutched in my hand. "I... I got a call. From Director Taishi."

Akira's eyebrows shot up. "From your TV show? What did he want?"

I took a deep breath. "He offered me a role. A lead role in a movie. And... he offered a supporting role to Aqua as well."

Aqua's eyes widened, a mix of shock and excitement on his face. "Me? In a movie? With you, Mom?"

For a moment, Akira just stared. Then, a grin spread across his face. "Ai, Aqua, that's incredible! Congratulations!"

But he must have seen the hesitation in my eyes, because his expression softened. "What's wrong? Isn't this what you've always wanted?"

I sighed, sinking down onto the couch. "It is. But... it's a low-budget film. The pay wouldn't be much. And with my idol career, with Ruby... I just don't know if we can do it."

Akira sat down beside me, taking my hand in his. "Ai, listen to me. This is a huge opportunity. For both of you. Yes, it's small. Yes, it's a risk. But all great things start somewhere."

He turned to Aqua, his expression serious but kind. "Aqua, this could be the start of something big for you. A chance to show the world your talent. It won't be easy, but I believe in you."

Aqua nodded. "I want to do it, Ai. I want to try."

"But what about the money? What about...?" I started, but Akira squeezed my hand, cutting off my worries.

"We'll figure it out. Together. I'm here for you, Ai. For both of you. Every step of the way."

As if on cue, Ruby climbed onto the couch, snuggling into my side. "Mommy and Aqua are going to be in a movie?"

"Yes, baby. Mommy and Aqua are going to be in a movie."

[Akira POV]

November 24th, 2019

The studio was a hive of activity, a palpable energy buzzing through the air. In the center of it all stood Yumi, her presence a calm and focused eye in the midst of the storm.

I watched as she worked tirelessly, her attention to detail bordering on obsessive. But I understood. This wasn't just another comeback, another media blitz. This was a defining moment for X-Factor, a chance to rise from the ashes of Jiro's departure and prove ourselves anew.

Yumi understood that better than anyone. And she was determined to make sure we put our best foot forward.

"Alright, everyone," she called out, clapping her hands to get our attention. "Let's run through those talking points again. Kenji, you start."

Kenji straightened, his face a mask of concentration. "We're excited to show a new side of X-Factor," he said, his voice steady and sure. "This comeback is about growth, about evolution. We're not just picking up where we left off - we're stepping into a new era."

Yumi nodded, a small smile of approval on her lips. "Good. Haruto, your turn."

One by one, she put us through our paces, drilling us on our responses, our tone, our body language. It was exhausting, but I could feel the difference. We were sharper, more cohesive. Ready to face the cameras and the questions with confidence and grace.

But Yumi's work didn't stop there. In between our rehearsals and coaching sessions, she was a whirlwind of activity. Crafting teasers, coordinating behind-the-scenes shoots, strategizing every move to build maximum anticipation.

"We need to give them a taste," she explained, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "A glimpse of what's to come. Enough to whet their appetite, to get them talking."

And talk they did. With each teaser drop, each carefully curated snippet, the internet exploded. Fans speculated, media outlets analyzed. X-Factor was on everyone's lips.

It was a reality I confronted head-on during a rare break in our schedule. I had ventured out to grab some coffee, craving a moment of normalcy amidst the chaos.

But as I walked down the street, I could feel eyes on me. Whispers followed my footsteps, excitement buzzing in the air.

"Is that...? No, it can't be."

"It is! It's Akira from X-Factor!"

Before I knew it, I was surrounded. Fans, their faces alight with awe and excitement, holding out their phones for selfies, thrusting notebooks and posters for me to sign.

It was surreal. Overwhelming.

But as I posed for photos, as I scribbled my name and words of thanks, I felt a warmth blooming in my chest. This is what I've wanted all my life - well both lives.

Late one night, as I sat in the studio, my head in my hands, Yumi found me. She sat down beside me, her presence a quiet comfort.

"You're doing great, you know," she said softly. "I know it doesn't always feel like it, but you are."

I looked up, meeting her gaze. "Ha. Sometimes I feel like I'm just barely keeping my head above water."

"That's how you know you're doing it right. If it feels easy, you're not pushing hard enough."

I looked at her, questioning.

"You have heart, Akira. A genuine love for what you do, for the people you do it with. That's rare in this industry. Don't ever lose sight of that."

She was right. Amidst all the chaos, the pressure, it was easy to forget what truly mattered.

The music. The message. The bonds we'd forged, on stage and off.

I took a deep breath, squaring my shoulders. "Thank you, Yumi. For everything. We couldn't do this without you."

She waved off my gratitude, but I could see the pleasure in her eyes. "It's my job. And it's my pleasure. You boys... you're something special. Now go out there and show the world what X-Factor is really made of."

The night before our debut was electric. It's hard to act normal with the knowledge that tomorrow, everything will change.

We were exhausted, all of us.The constant grueling rehearsals, media training and promotional shoots, had taken their toll. But beneath the fatigue, there was a buzz of excitement. A readiness, a hunger to finally show the world what we could do.

As we gathered in the practice room for one final run-through, I looked around at my team. My brothers.

"Guys," I said. "I just want to say... I'm proud of us. Of how far we've come, of everything we've overcome to get here."

I saw Kenji's jaw tighten, saw Haruto blink back tears. Satoru, for once, was silent, his eyes fixed on me with a fierce intensity.

"Tomorrow," I continued, "we step onto that stage as X-Factor. Not the X-Factor of the past, but the X-Factor of now. The X-Factor that we've built together."

I put my hand out, palm down. "We're more than a group. We're a team. A family. And no matter what happens out there, that will never change."

One by one, they put their hands on top of mine. Kenji, Haruto, Daisuke, Satoru.

"We've got this," Satoru said, his usual bravado tempered by a rare sincerity. "We're going to blow them away."

"Together," Kenji echoed, his voice a quiet vow.

"Together," we all repeated, our voices joining in a chorus of determination.

As we threw our hands up in a final cheer, I felt a swell of pride, of love for these men who had become my brothers.

Tomorrow, we would face the music. Tomorrow, we would put our hearts on the line, our dreams on the stage.

But tonight? Tonight, we were X-Factor. United. Unbreakable.

Ready for anything.
