Nami's Nobleman

The first noble person in Nami's life, according to the movie version of One Piece, is Carina, a character from *The Movie: Gold*. Carina is a skilled thief who took Nami under her wing when Nami was still young, long before Luffy came into her life. She taught Nami how to survive by using her wits, helping her navigate through her toughest years as an orphan.

Carina is smarter and an even better thief than Nami, a rational and strategic thinker like Nico Robin and Monet. It's no exaggeration to say that without Carina, Nami wouldn't have become the "Little Thieving Cat" we know in the main story.

In the movie, Carina and Nami team up to steal from a group of treasure hunters. However, things took a turn when they encountered **Mad Treasure**, a rare Devil Fruit user who consumed the Paramecia-type Chain-Chain Fruit. The duo was defeated for the first time, and Nami, caught and scared, faced the closest brush with death she had ever experienced.

It was Carina who saved Nami by outsmarting Mad Treasure. She promised to return all the stolen treasure and even offered her own in exchange for their lives. Mad Treasure agreed but gave her the ultimatum that if she didn't return by sunset, Nami would be killed.

Carina never came back, and Nami believed she had been abandoned. However, when Mad Treasure took Nami to retrieve her hidden treasure, they discovered that Carina had already stolen it and left behind a mocking message.

This clever move was part of Carina's plan. She knew that if she simply returned the treasure, neither of them would survive. By making Nami appear as the "worst off," Mad Treasure and his gang, feeling a sense of twisted satisfaction, spared Nami's life, allowing both girls to survive.

Carina's quick thinking and her ability to manipulate the situation to ensure their safety made her a pivotal figure in Nami's early life. Without her, Nami might never have developed the survival skills that later defined her as a cunning thief.

After many years, Nami and Carina crossed paths again. This time, Carina used the Straw Hat Pirates for her own plans, and in the end, she even managed to steal an entire golden ship. These two incidents left a lasting impression on Kahn, who was deeply intrigued by the clever girl.

Now that Nami had reunited with Carina, Kahn decided it was time to take action.

While playing around in a small town on an island with Nami, Kahn pointed toward where Nami and Carina were and instructed Monet, "Monet, go get the girl with short orange hair and the one with short purple hair. Bring them back to the Grandigne."

"Yes, Master," Monet responded without hesitation. As a dutiful maid, she didn't ask questions but nodded obediently. Activating her Observation Haki, which she had mastered over the past two years, Monet covertly initiated her surgical field.

At the age of 20, Monet was reaching her peak abilities. Her surgical field could now cover an entire small town, and within that field, Monet was like a goddess. Everything, unless it had the power to resist her rules and conceptual control, was under her influence. Having a god-like perspective within the field was a basic skill for her.

Before long, Monet had located Nami and Carina.

In the next instant, both Monet and the two girls vanished from the street, causing pedestrians nearby to scream in shock, with some even collapsing in fear.

Ignoring the chaos, Kahn calmly took Yamato and Sugar to refill their freshwater supplies. Using his telekinetic powers, he effortlessly floated dozens of buckets from the store and headed back to the Grandine. Along the way, people were stunned to see the buckets floating behind Kahn, realizing that a powerful individual had come to the island. Wherever he went, people quickly cleared the way.

Meanwhile, Nami and Carina, who had been teleported onto the Grandine, were visibly shaken. For the ten-year-olds, this was beyond anything they had ever seen before.

However, while Nami was purely terrified, Carina seemed to recognize something. As she stared at the ship's canvas and flag, her eyes widened, and she muttered in a trembling voice, "No way... Why would someone this important be here?"

Hearing Carina's words, Nami sneaked a glance at Kahn, who was approaching with two tall and short maids—Yamato and Sugar—along with dozens of floating buckets behind him. Monet was about to use her powers to transfer the buckets when Nami leaned toward Carina and whispered, "Carina, do you know who that is?"

Carina's eyes widened even further as she looked at Nami in disbelief. "You don't know him?"

Nami blinked, clearly clueless, which prompted Carina to let out a slight sigh of frustration. "As a thief, especially one in the underworld, I can understand not knowing some of the bigger players. But not knowing the emperor of the pirate world? You didn't do any homework before deciding to become a thief?"

"Emperor? Overlord?" Nami asked, utterly confused. "Is he the emperor of a kingdom or something?"

Carina nodded but quickly corrected her, "Well, you could say that. But he's not just the emperor of a country."

Watching Monet and her crew, who had already begun their operations using their unbelievable abilities to make the buckets disappear, Carina explained to Nami as quickly as she could: "That man is **Cross Kahn**, the head of the 'Cross Family.' The Cross Family is the ruler of the underworld. They control the world's largest arms, medicine, and entertainment businesses, with influence reaching across the globe."

"According to reports from various gossip magazines, Cross Kahn's wealth is so vast that he could buy several countries that are part of the World Government. He's undoubtedly the richest man in the world."

"And while the Cross Family isn't technically a pirate crew, they're considered one of the three dominant forces in the pirate world. Cross Kahn himself has a bounty of 4.555 billion berries, and some even say he's the 'strongest creature' alive."
