A Wimp & A Navigator

A 17-year-old Luffy could be seen lying down in a small dinghy, slowly sailing away from Dawn Island. Hundreds of people were lined up on the shoreline to see him off.

Of course, Dadan wasn't there. She was probably crying up a storm back at the hideout.

"So, he's finally leaving, huh?" Makino said with tears in her eyes as she waved at the young man she had watched grow up and sail off into his next step of life. The mayor next to her scoffed at her words.

"He's going to ruin the town's reputation!!" Mayor Woodslap yelled as he scowled at the slowly disappearing boat. Makino was about to say something in response, but those thoughts died when they saw the Lord of the Coast surface with Luffy in his sights.

"LUFFY!! GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!" They all shouted at him, to which the boy only laughed and completely ignored them, even jumping up and down to catch the attention of the sea king.

Just as some people were getting ready to grab a boat of their own or jump into the water, they all heard Luffy yell out.

"Levi!!!! I missed you buddy!!" Luffy yelled as he smiled at the sea king, who in turn put most of his body underwater, with only his face peeking out of the water.

"Shishishi!!! It's good to see you too!! You've gotten bigger since the last time I saw you!!" Luffy said as he patted the sea king's snout to which the beast immediately nuzzled up to Luffy which made him laugh more.

"Shishishishi!!! Alright, buddy!! It's time for the adventure that I told you about!! Are you ready?" Luffy asked his friend, who nodded repeatedly. Luffy laughed as he tied some ropes around him.

"Yosh!! Let's go, Levi!! Take me that way!" Luffy shouted pointing in front of them.

"Of course, Joyboy." A voice sounded in Luffy's head. He pouted at his friend.

"My name is Luffy!! I already told you to stop calling me that!!

Luffy can be seen fast asleep on his dinghy, only to be woken up by Levi's grumbling. After his eyes got adjusted to the light, he looked over at his friend who was peering down at him.

"What's wrong, Levi?" Luffy asked as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes.

"Whirlpool" His friend's voice sounded in his head, making him snap his head over to the water to see that there was a massive whirlpool right in front of them.

Luffy looked around a bit before seeing what looked like two ships in the distance. He closed his eyes to try and sense what was over there and felt his stomach growl when he sensed all the food being served at the party on the fancier boat.

"Meet me over there, Levi! I'm gonna go ahead!!" Luffy shouted as he jumped as high as he could into the air, the dinghy completely forgotten about. He could hear his friend growl out in agreement as he planted his first step in the air.

*POP*

He sent himself flying in the direction of the two ships using 'Moon-Walk' almost as fast as his Grandpa dragged him to that island when he was a kid. Just kidding, his Grandpa was scary fast, even for him.

He stopped above the two ships, keeping himself airborne with continuous steps in the air.

*SNIFF* *SNIFF*

"MEATTTTT!!!!" Luffy let gravity do its work as he started falling towards the cruise ship where he smelled the meat.

He crashed straight into the deck of the cruise ship, much like the time as a kid when he fell on a red-haired pirate's ship.

Everybody from the pirates robbing everyone to the rich people getting robbed on the ship, all stopped and looked at this man who seemingly fell out of the sky.

*Cough* *Cough*

Luffy coughed as he swiped his hand back and forth, getting rid of the dust he kicked up. When the dust settled, everyone was shocked to see the teenager look like the fall didn't affect him at all.

*SNIFF* *SNIFF*

Luffy smelled the air like a dog before whipping around and disappearing, terrifying everybody. They all heard the noise of eating and looked over at the buffet to see that same teenager eating faster than they had ever seen anyone eat.

"Ahhhh, that hit the spot," Luffy said as he slapped his massively bloated stomach. He scrunched up his face in concentration before his stomach snapped back to normal size with a small amount of steam coming off of his body.

"That's much better!!" Luffy looks around and sees a bunch of people looking at him like some kind of freak, but does he care about them, no he doesn't. He does, however, care about the meat he can smell on the pirate ship.

"Well, See ya!!" He yelled out as he ran out the door, pupils turning into mean on the bone.

Everyone just stared at him stunned, completely refusing to believe what they just witnessed was reality.

"This is the life!!" Luffy shouted as he ate all the food in the storage room he found. He looked over at the kid who seemed to be trying to hide from him.

"So, who are you, kid?" Luffy asked. The kid jumped upon being addressed before taking a deep breath and taking a step out of the corner of the room.

"I-I'm K-Koby s-sir." The now-named Koby stuttered out. Luffy laughed at him.

"So Koby, what are you doing here? You don't seem like much of a pirate to me." Luffy asked and pointed out. Koby looked affronted at the notion that he was a pirate.

"I'm nothing like them! I-i accidentally boarded Alvin's ship, thinking it was a fishing boat." Koby explained to which Luffy burst out laughing.

"Shishishi you're so dumb!!" Luffy said as he held his stomach. Koby looked at the ground in a depression.

"Y-you're so mean! Oh, I-i never asked. W-what's your name?" The boy stuttered out. Luffy smiled at him.

"I'm Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm going to be the Pirate King!!" Luffy shouted out before going back to his food, shocking Koby to his core.

"P-Pirate King?! T-then, y-you're a p-pirate." Koby looked at him with fear but as he saw the teenager laugh at said fear, he realized this person wasn't going to cause him any harm.

"L-Luffy-san, you w-want to be the P-Pirate King? The Pirate King is a man with all the wealth, fame, and power; everything in this world is united in one!! Impossible impossible. Impossible! Luffy-san will surely die if he tries to become the Pirat-" He was cut off when he got punched on the top of the head.

"It's not about whether or not I can do it," Luffy said quietly, grabbing Koby's attention. Lucy took off the straw hair on his head, looking at it, reliving the memories that went through it.

"I promised a man that gave me this hat that I would gather a crew even better than his, become the Pirate King, and start a New Age of Freedom. I don't care if I die pursuing it." Koby was shocked in the silence by the right determination behind the statement. Koby could truly see that Luffy would die chasing his dream. Luffy put his hat back on his head with a grin.

"Well, there's no more food here, so I'm gonna leave. You know where any spare boats are?" Luffy asked the small boy who nodded his head at the corner of the room. Luffy turned to see a poorly-made dinghy that looked like it was about to fall apart.

"I made that with the hopes of trying to escape, but I could never work up the courage to do so," Koby explained sadly, making Luffy laugh at him again.

"Shishishishi!!! You're super weak and cowardly! I hate people like that!" Luffy said while laughing, making Koby fall to the floor on his hands and knees.

"You're harsh…" he mumbled out. He sat up as he though about his dream. Maybe, if he could put his life on the line too…

"Luffy-san, do you think I could do it?" He asked him. Luffy raised an eyebrow at him.

"Hmm?"

"Do you think I could follow my dream if I risk my life?" Koby asked again, making Luffy smile.

"What dream is that?" Luffy asked. Koby got more determined than ever.

"I want to be a marine and catch bad guys! I want to make sure nothing that happened to me, happens to others! I want to catch that FAT OLD BAT ALVIDA!!!" Koby was screaming by the end. As soon as he finished his sentence, he heard the tell-tale sound of an iron mace on wood.

*BOOM!!*

"What was that? Who's the most beautiful woman in the seas, Koby?" A massive woman holding an iron mace asked Koby as the boy was covered in cold sweat. He seemed to hesitate for a moment before his eyes hardened, but before he could say anything, he heard Luffy say something next to him.

"Hey, Koby, who's this fatass?" Luffy asked with his pinkie in his nose. Everyone on the deck went stock-still and stared at him with gaping mouths. Alvida felt countless veins on her head pop as she looked at the short, pink-haired navigator of her ship.

"Koby, answer my question!!" She said in s snarl that made Luffy snort. Koby looked at her, glanced at Luffy, and looked back at her. A small smirk grew on his face before he took a massive breath in.

"ALVIDA IS THE UGLIEST, FATTEST WHALE IN THE ENTIRE EAST BLUE!!!" Koby shouted out, making Luffy crack up laughing and everyone else stared at him in astonishment.

Alvida swung her iron club up in the air, making Koby slam his eyes shut, but he didn't move at all.

"I HAVE NO REGRETS!!!" He shouted out at what he thought was the end of his life. When he opened his eyes, he saw himself having by his shirt collar with Luffy holding onto him. They were both about 20 meters away from where they had been a minute ago. Alvida and her crew looked at Luffy like he was a ghost.

"Shishishi!!! Well said!!" Luffy laughed as he moved Koby out of the way. He let loose his 'Conquerer's Haki', watching as all of the pirates fell unconscious. He probably could've knocked her out too, but he wanted to give her a good punch for what she did to his new friend.

"Grit your teeth!! Gomu-Gomu no…" He shouted as he stretched his arm back, astounding everyone who saw it. Before Alvida could process what she was seeing, the fist was already crashing into her stomach.

"PISTOL!!!"

Alvida was launched off her feet, off her ship, and off into the horizon. Koby watched with awe as his tormentor was sent flying off into the distance. The next thing Koby knew, he was being grabbed by his shirt collar again and falling off the side of the boat.

Luffy landed on the dinghy with a laugh, completely ignoring the feminine scream from the other resident of the boat. He was about to say something, but his face flipped into a serious look and he whipped to his right while setting Koby down.

"Divine One-Sword Style…" He unsheathed his cutlass and swung.

Nami had no idea what was happening. First, she saw some guy come out of the sky. Pretty weird, but nothing more than a good distraction in her books.

Second, the same guy just knocked out a pirate crew by looking at them and sent a pirate with an 8,000,000 Berry Bounty flying into the sky.

Third, this same crazy guy just down onto her boat(Why did it have to be her boat?!) with a kid she remembered seeing hiding on Alvida's ship.

Fourth and finally, he just swung his sword at nothing.

"DIVINE RED WAVE!!!"

As she was about to ask what he was doing, she was shocked when a large red compressed air slash was sent flying into the distance, right after a cannonball was fired in their direction.

The attack cut the cannonball in half, exploding halfway between their dinghy and the Marine ship that shot it. It continued towards the marine ship that fired it, slicing it in two and sending the marines on board into the water.

Nami and Koby stared at the attack with dull eyes, before turning said dull eyes to the man who caused said attack. Luffy was laughing up a storm as he was sheathing his cutlass.

"Shishishishi!!! Don't shoot if you can't get hit!!" Luffy said to himself before turning around and sitting down like nothing happened. He raised an eyebrow as he saw how the other two occupants of the dinghy were looking at him.

"What?" He asked them, making Nami feel a couple of blood vessels in her forehead pop.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN 'What?'?!!! YOU JUST CUT A MAINRE SHIP IN HALF!!!" She screamed at him, making him burst out in laughter.

"Shishishi!! Yeah, I did!!" He responded making Nami whack him over the top of the head.

*WHAM!!!*

"OWWW!!! How does that hurt?! I'm a rubber man!!!' Luffy shouted as he clutched his smoking head, scaring the hell out of Koby.

Nami just realized she just punched someone who could cut a ship in half from a distance, so she tried to play to her strengths. She pulled her shirt down a bit, making sure her cleavage was showing, and leaned forward while batting her eyelashes at him.

"I'm sorry for yelling at you and hitting you. Is there any way you could forgive me?" Nami said in a sultry tone while grabbing Luffy's arm. She was let down, however, when he just looked at her in the eyes with confusion filling those black orbs.

"Um, can you take us to Shells town then? My friend here needs to go there to join the Marines and I have no idea how to get there." Luffy explained as he pointed at Koby, who waved upon being introduced.

Nami pouted a bit that her charms didn't work, but she felt a bit better when she saw the glance he took. She then thought about what was asked.

'I need to go to Shells Town anyways, might as well take him there so he doesn't get upset.' Nami thought to herself before nodding at Luffy, making him smile. She went to say something else, but he turned towards the water and shouted.

"LEVI!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!!" Luffy shouted, much to the two's confusion. Said confusion was squashed and replaced with terror as they saw a sea king poke out of the water, heading straight towards them. As they were both crying with their eyes slammed shut, they heard excited laughter from the other occupant of the dinghy.

"Shishishi!!! It's good to see you too, buddy!!" Luffy laughed as he hugged Levi when the sea king started kicking all over his face. Nami and Koby were shell-shocked at what they were witnessing. They turned to each other.

"Are we seeing this?"

"I wish I could say no."

"So it is real?"

"Sadly."

"Shishishishi!!! Stop being so weird, guys! This is my friend Levi! Levi, these are my new friends Koby and… Um, what was your name again?" Luffy asked as he turned to the orange-haired girl as he was still hugging Levi on top of his head. Said the girl blinked up at him before answering.

"Nami…" She would normally give out a fake name, but she couldn't exactly be blamed for what she was witnessing right now. Luffy nodded at her and turned back to Levi.

"Well, nice to meet you, Nami. Levi, you listen to what Nami tells you because she knows how to get to where we wanna go, okay?" Luffy asked his friend.

'Of course, Joyboy. I live to serve you.' Luffy heard in his head which made him frown.

"You're my friend, not a servant. No way would I take my friend's freedom away." He said, confusing the other two and making Levi hesitantly nod his head. Luffy nodded back before hopping back on the dinghy and tying ropes onto his friend.

"Yosh!! Off to Bells Town!!"

"It's Shells Town, you idiot!!!"
