The plans always kick in when inconveniences arise. The plan to destroy the Black Cat Pirates is a done deal. Ever since Kuro set foot on this island with his macabre scheme, there's no way out. They'll be defeated under the yoke of two Logia fruits and a swordsman who just improved his fighting skills.
-Alright, Mr. Kaim, I'll go prepare the ship. Will there be an escort? - Axel asked.
-I'll bring Merry; he's the one with the most confidence in managing the Chamber of Commerce, - Kaim said.
-Okay, I'll prepare the room. The trip to Orange Town will take four days, and the journey to the Goa Kingdom will take two, - Axel replied, calculating how long it would take to arrive with the new upgrades to his ship, pensive and estimating the time.
-Ohhhh, quite fast. Normally, my trip to Orange Town takes a whole week. And to the Goa Kingdom, another week due to the ocean currents that hit that part of the sea, - Kaim said, his yellow mustache moving as he spoke.
-Well, it's true, but my navigation isn't a joke. We're fast, and it's because of my knack for navigation, - Axel said.
-I didn't think you were any good. Did you not get lost when you first went sailing? - Kaim asked.
-That... - Axel said, embarrassed.
-Hahahahaha, - laughed Kaim.
-Mr. Kaim, a storm like I've never seen hit the sea. Back then, I had a small raft; now, I have a sailboat with a helm. If the sky falls, I think I can sail above the clouds, - the young man with black hair responded.
Out of the corner of his eye, Axel could feel Kahaldore's presence. Despite all the warnings he gave Mr. Kaim, none of them bore fruit, and he was blinded by Kuro's status, now a butler. In his wisdom, he decided to support Kahaldore, a reformed new man.
The black cat Kuro listened to the entire conversation from the shadows with an unheard-of calmness. Upon hearing the slightest movement of Axel leaving, he vanished like a gust of wind.
The Black Cat Pirates are lying in wait. They know about the journey, but they don't know the navigation route Axel will undertake.
I highly doubt they have a good navigator on their ship. Besides, I understand perfectly that the attack will have to be in waters near the Gecko Islands, - Axel thought.
Unless they prefer a low profile and attack in the Orange Islands, - Axel thought again, this time with a touch of nerves.
Axel left the room with renewed calmness. Kuro won't win, and it takes a lot of skill to beat two Logia fruits of the style only seen in the New World.
Axel arrived at the cliff and saw the battle between the two Logias, liquid and fire, both clashing with restless force. Even though the liquid easily extinguished the flames, Deuce completely dominated Agatha.
-Agatha, Deuce. Has the training borne fruit? - Axel asked.
-Captain, it's gone perfectly. We have a better mastery of the Devil Fruit. My control of the fire element is on its way, - Deuce said.
-And you, Agatha? - Axel asked.
-It's acceptable, although fighting Deuce makes me uncomfortable, I've learned a lot in this month of training, - Agatha said.
She wasn't lying; the fire caused some discomfort.

The increase in Deuce's skills is inconsistent, and even though he gained an improvement in skill talent after leveling up, Deuce's skills left much to be desired; the potential was there.

On the other hand, Agatha's condition is also good. Her progress is acceptable. The use of the Devil Fruit consumes a lot of physical energy and mentally strains the consumer. Therefore, until they get completely accustomed to using the fruit, their mentality will increase as they progress with the fruit.
It's almost an exponential increase. I can only envy the evident advantages of Devil Fruits and their aspects.
But Deuce, who has been studying medicine separately, has gained a superior increase. After reaching the intermediate achievement as a medic, this knowledge is acceptable for any pirate crew, but it's not enough. Axel is in search of more medical books that can enhance the medical skills of the crew members.
-Alright, we'll set sail before noon, - Axel said. Leisure has not been part of my routine; frugality and training are my daily bread.

On the other hand, Axel, upon reviewing his status, finds that the experience increase is stagnant. He has 10 extra experience points for motivating Kaya to become a doctor earlier than expected, earning him a wooden chest translated into pieces. Along with a wisdom card that raised Axel's mental stats by 40. Training is slow, and he has dedicated himself to refining water breathing, which increases his sword level by double the percentage. The physical body resists breathing, but Axel doubts he can handle a battle of more than an hour using this technique constantly. It imposes a giant physical burden on the lungs, despite having an above-average, almost superhuman physique; it is not possible to use it indiscriminately.
The load on the lungs and the respiratory capabilities also affects the heart; it is a slow wear that hits with extreme dizziness and fatigue when reaching the limit. Therefore, the next mission already decided after solving Kuro's problems is to embark on defeating Portgas D. Ace, a person born to lead but with a poor mentality.
-He has an inferiority complex that I can exploit, - Axel thought in his mind.
Ace is like a ticket. Along with Ussop, they are the right hand of the ship if the future event were to happen. With Ace, Axel will go even further than he would ever have gone if he did it alone. Of course, these are just unfounded ideas. What are the chances that someone like him will follow Axel? Very low. Ace is undoubtedly a God-given prodigy, and although he has a lot of training, it may not be enough for power struggles.
Axel thought, what more can he plan? In his mind, Marineford is a good way to showcase himself to the world. It's also the so-called change of the Marines and the World Government's alert about the new era, with worldwide recruitment. His activity shifted to the Marines, with the world in turmoil after the elimination of Whitebeard's pirates.
Still, Axel feels sorry for Ace, a young man who never felt part of a place and died very young. He's a good companion. Axel is sure that he couldn't ask for a more loyal person. Although he causes problems, Axel is willing to accept them to unleash the contacts he can generate and the attack power that he can surpass, even with system traps.
Axel arrived at the ship's bay and began to prepare the ship for his recent journey.
-Ussop, help me organize the cargo hold, and tell Agatha to assist us with the provisions. I don't take into account what we need for a 10-day trip, - Axel said.
-Sure, - said Ussop.
As soon as he could, Mr. Kaim appeared there with a large cart of food and some supplies.
-Axel! - Merry shouted.
-Mr. Merry," Axel said, addressing the cart. There were two barrels of water, three sacks of potatoes, fresh fruit, and some portions of meat.
-These are our supplies for the journey. Let me help you; on this trip, I'll be the designated cook, so I apologize for any inconvenience," Merry said.
-Don't trouble yourself, sir. You're doing us a great favor. Our cook is Agatha, -- Axel said, pointing to the blonde. -- She knows how to make soups and meats, but a little teaching would help. Cooking for seven people is challenging. -
-Very well, I also brought a futon. Kaim mentioned that you'll provide the captain's cabin for us to settle in, - Merry said.
-That's right, it's a studio, but I think you can manage during this trip, -Axel said.
Merry nodded.
The small boat, with its space expansion system, was a blessing disguised as an impossible architectural feat. A place that was supposedly one large room turned out to be two medium-sized rooms with enough space for four or five people.
A hold capable of holding enough food for about two months of travel, and a kitchen with enough space for eight people.
The captain's cabin, although it had a spacious bed with a desk, enchanted Merry and Kaim with the design of the boat. Even though it seemed like a carpenter wasn't needed, it was useful for some repairs that Ussop took care of.
The boatman wasn't as crucial due to the strong design of the boat, quite resistant to hits.
-I'm surprised at how fast you sail through these waters, Axel, - Merry said, watching as the island faded into the distance, and the boat moved at a surprisingly fast pace.
-It's an honor, Merry. I know the East Blue Sea almost by heart. Only a hurricane will keep us off course, - Axel said, boasting.
-I hope a hurricane doesn't hit us, but either way, I believe we'd get through with your help, - Merry said.
-Thanks, Merry, for your compliments. My parents were very wise people who encouraged me to learn different things from an early age. Navigation is just one of the things I learned during my time with them, - Axel said.
-Are they still around? - Merry asked.
-No, - Axel said.
He swallowed. Ussop's trustworthy butler had heard that Axel got lost in a very strong storm about three months ago and ended up in the Gecko Islands. However, from what he could see, Axel's parents were no longer with him. - My condolences, kid, - Merry said.
-That's how you put it, Merry, but I'm not sad. But thanks, - Axel said.
-One day, they set off in search of research. According to them, they found a lost city, a city of high historical value, and I haven't seen them since. I set sail to the sea to find them. After a long time of thinking or meditating about what had happened to them, I only concluded that I was left with the only option to move forward, just as my father told me. So, I bought a small boat with the savings from the house and left my hometown, - Axel said.
-I'm sorry to hear that, - Merry said.
Suddenly, a shout came from the lookout. Two hours had passed since the journey began.
-Axel, a ship is heading towards us! - Ussop shouted.
-Well, Merry, this discussion will have to wait for later, - Axel said, jumping on the ropes to see the ship.
-Prepare the cannons, - Axel said to Deuce.
They were being attacked from the stern by some pirates. The cat's flag was just an assertion; they were the Black Cat Pirates. Kuro had acted in advance of Mr. Kaim's news; reducing his trips was a key piece for his plans, so any opportunity had to be seized. Trusting the small children running the ship, he had planned the attack the night before.
-Well, I suppose after learning the information, he must have felt upset. No one would think that a person knows almost the complete history of the One Piece world. Unfortunately, my death was before the end of the series, and I couldn't confirm if Luffy became the Pirate King. But Kuro didn't surprise him, - Axel thought.
The splashes sounded, and the shots roared, with the increasing number of bullets. Axel called Deuce.
-Cover the range with your fire punches, - Axel said.
Kaim and Merry opened their eyes, seeing how the great firestorm expelled from Deuce's fists ended all the cannonballs.
On the side, Agatha was smoothing the cannons, Ussop ran from side to side like a headless chicken. Deuce stood in front of the attacking ship, stretched out his fist, and shouted, "Fire whirlwind!" The burning flame moved like a raging tornado, carried by the waves of wind, hitting the front of the pursuing ship. In the course of this month, he had improved a lot in his Devil Fruit abilities.
-Good job, Deuce, - Axel said.
-It's a pleasure, Captain. I feel more confident since I ate this Devil Fruit, - he replied, blushing.
-Don't be too confident; Logias are powerful fruits, but also deceptive, - Axel said. He could feel Agatha rolling her eyes behind him.
-Ussop, - Axel shouted again. -- Ready the cannons; we're going to give them a good round. -
They could see them pursuing, maneuvering through the waves, but they couldn't catch up. This navigator knew his boat and what it was capable of. That boat with that thick keel couldn't make a simple turn, just as it didn't paint a stellar front. It's better to surround it and attack with the power of fire.
The cannons echoed from the small blue pirate ship. The first cannon hit the sails of the attacking pirate ship with the cat's flag. Ussop's aim was no joke. Screams rang out. Axel moved the rudder again to the right to close the circle and make the necessary boarding.
-Agatha, release the sails for a moment; let's turn the ship, - Axel turned the rudder with force.
-We have to board the ship. If we're lucky, we might get a reward from the pirates attacking us. I'm sure there's someone special on that ship. It's a surprise that they attack us in these distant waters; some island and precisely attack us leaving the village on the way to the Orange Islands, - Axel commented.
-Do you think it's a planned ambush? - Agatha asked.
-I'm sure it's an ambush, - Axel said.
-We have to extract information no matter what. I think it's time for you to use Devil Fruit abilities, Deuce. He's a time bomb and would burn the whole ship, but your Devil Fruit is more subtle, and that sticky liquid is devastating, though not as destructive as fire that consumes everything, - Axel told Agatha.
Mr. Kaim came out of his place looking somewhat scared. He shouted, - Are we all safe? -
Ussop responded, - You have me, the great and brave Sea Warrior; don't worry, sir. We'll take care of those pirates in a jiffy. -
-Then we'll drink wine, eat meat, dance on tables, and this will be just a story to tell our grandchildren, - Axel sang happily.
-To our grandchildren, you say, - the vein on Mr. Kaim's forehead glowed, thinking about Kaya and the sticky Ussop.
Axel thought, - I think I have to interfere before Ussop says more stupid things. -
-Yes, sir, for now, stay in your room. We think these villains are circulating in these waters and trying to steal our treasures, like those of many merchants. Unaware of our power, they would continue with our trips to the Orange Islands without further problems. We'll have to find out why they attacked us, and in case, hand them over to the nearest Marine base, - Axel told Kaim.
Kaim nodded and took cover.
-The impact will be in about 30 seconds. Please stay in your rooms. Merry, accompany him. Don't be afraid; these last only a second, - Axel said. We were approaching the enemy pirate ship.
After a battle, before it, you feel a shiver that covers your whole body. Axel unsheathed his sword to fight against the cat crew; he knew, according to their abilities and the abilities of all the crew members, the only one who would be a burden was Ussop. However, he was mentally skilled, and no one would likely touch him from a distance.
Both Agatha and Deuce have Logia-type Devil Fruits. It's almost impossible for them to lose against these small fries. However, I can't assume; we're fighting in marine waters, and their great weakness is the sea. I'll have to be vigilant in case one of them falls overboard, he thought to himself.
The impact came with a strong shock. Axel thanked the boat's resistance granted by the boat's system. No one knows what the next step will be, but he hopes to see the next update of this boat and the mysteries it will bring
The blue pirates jumped from their railings and boarded the Black Cat Pirates' ship, except for Ussop, who stayed above the lookout, hitting with his slingshot.
-Hey, don't go overboard. We need to interrogate these guys and loot their treasures. It's better to have these pirates intact than totally incinerated, - Agatha said, following Deuce. He raised his hands glowing with fire and struck relentlessly.
-Everything's clear, -- he replied. -- I'll stretch my legs a bit; since the fight with Bear King, I feel ashamed of myself. Trained to improve my skills, and I want to test them, - Deuce said with a smile on his face, craving battle.
Ussop climbed the ropes, trapped in the small lookout of the small galley on the boat. He had his modified slingshot and a small pistol. Axel had to convince him to use a gun, but he looked more convinced. After Axel warned him only to use it in emergencies to protect the crew.
The battle was fierce against the Cat Pirates. The sword lit up with a sea light. Axel inhaled deeply; his lungs swelled with breath. The aquatic sword was born; waves surged like tides from his lungs. The water danced, and his sword ran with force, in a short usage, it took down five pirates at once, and with great strength, he continued cutting.
On one side, Agatha shooting her water balls, Deuce from the left flank with deadly kicks, and Ussop broke from a distance with his slingshot. Without realizing it, Kaim was watching us from the ship's bow with his binoculars. He laughed, not following Axel's request to stay in the room as he had told him.
-They are powerful, - Axel said to Kaim.
-I didn't expect them to have such strange powers. What is that water coming out of his sword, and that girl, I thought she was just on the boat because she was a good cook, but now I realize that her fighting abilities are also admirable, - said Merry.
-This boy, where did he gain so much strength? How is it possible that in four months since he arrived on our island, he has revolutionized so much? Do you remember when we walked through the town or went out to buy goods for the mansion because we needed some essential raw materials, and we saw him running with Ussop while shouting at the pirates? - said Kaim.
-I remember, Mr. Kaim. I was also surprised; it felt strange when I heard the news and the story from Miss Kaya that they had defeated a great pirate who was ruling an island. I imagined it was just nonsense, but now I see that they had some truth; they are quite powerful, - Merry replied
The battle had concluded, and Jango, the illusionist, lay at Axel's feet. His skills with the discs were commendable but not insurmountable. The twin brothers were defeated under the Honey Queen's hands. Her Logia fruit ultimately proved to be a formidable weapon despite initial difficulties in materializing her clothes, which Axel helped correct.
However, everyone was astonished after witnessing Deuce's practicality. Agatha realized it was simply a matter of imagining the clothes dematerializing; afterward, it became a passive activity that didn't even require conscious thought, as recounted by both Deuce and her.
-You're Jango, the vice-captain of Kuro's pirates. Tell me the exact orders that scoundrel gave you, -Axel said.
-He didn't give any orders, - responded the little Jango.
-So, this is your doing. Well, it's best to hand you over to the Marine base; I'll take you along with the brothers. You have a reward of 7 million berries. It's quite impressive for a pirate crew to have four individuals with bounties, - said Axel.
-Agatha, tied up the rest of the pirates with a rope. We won't take them to the Marine base of Branch 59, near the Animal Islands, - Axel instructed.
-We'll take the most powerful ones and deliver them to the nearest Marine base, which I think would be the Animal Islands. Tie up the illusionist; I think I have special handcuffs that are extremely heavy for this weak guy, - Axel said.
-The brothers can also be chained. We don't want any surprises, extra plans, or escape performances that could jeopardize the journey. They have some skills, - Agatha stated.
-Alright, tie them up, - Deuce said.
-I don't want to dirty my hands. These guys haven't bathed in days, - complained the queen of the crew. While tying up the thirty pirates, she made them promise not to cause more trouble. We would embark again.
The attack didn't change the journey much; it was brief. The Marine base was handed the captives, the first reward being 7 million berries. Sham and Buchi shared a bounty of five million berries.
Upon reaching the Orange Islands, at this point, despite Captain Morgan's promotion, his tyrannical regime had not yet begun. However, there were already signs of arrogance.
Mr. Kaim, being a well-settled man of means, sold the pharmacy for a price he didn't consider too costly: 19 million berries, almost the reward of a low-class pirate. However, for an ordinary person, it's quite a sum. He sold all medical equipment and bought some medical provisions.
He sold the shop, organized his chores, and did the same on the following islands. Since the era of piracy, his business has been on a decline due to the logistics system. Normally, he'd have to send a Marine ship to help with transactions. If, in the unfortunate case, that Marine ship was attacked by some famous or infamous pirate in an ambush, and the Marines lost, he would lose a lot of money.
The loss would only increase; therefore, it was better that the bodyguards were born on his island. They helped him solve the problems he had and focus only on the Gecko Islands, where the business didn't pose as much risk.
He could expand the garden, and improve medicine sales based on the laboratories in Loguetown, the best-manned city. Even though it was teeming with pirates, they normally didn't attack Loguetown for unknown reasons.
During the journey, Axel read his navigation books. Deuce read medical books, and Ussop conducted experiments.
At the beginning of the journey, he was kindly asked to try making the famous weather stick, as a nod to Nami. Although he plans to settle the score with Arlong, he has no intention of bringing her onto his ship.
That's why the weather stick was created, from a time when it could help the girl solve her problems and defend herself better. If Nami was properly explained how to use the Clima-Tact, following the preconceived notions Axel had from the anime, her strength would improve significantly.
It was Nami's perfect weapon, and even though it dug into Luffy's territory, Axel couldn't steal his lucky navigator. Nami was the guide.
After all, Axel's purpose was to end the World Government, and he didn't want to subordinate himself to the Joe Boy crew in the first place. Secondly, he couldn't just steal all of Joe Boy's crew; he had to make a notch of those who served him to achieve his goals.
At this moment, he had two people in the anime who hadn't been crucial, but he would make them crucial. It's better to choose some potential who don't have much screen time and improve gradually.
The system resonated.
Link state.
It has made a mark on the world of One Piece. It has obtained treasure chests, shining steel, and two metal ones.
It has gained 50 experience points.
It has obtained a shiny steel chest.
It has obtained two metal chests.
You have opened the metal chests; you've learned the basic cutting manual and received a strength letter.
You have opened the shiny steel chest. You've received the first three postures of the water form.
...
Defeating Kuro would give him at least one black-gold chest. That is, he was part of one of the pirate crews that faced the protagonist. Although he knew that there had to be certain pirates for the growth of the Straw Hats, the perfect training for them was constant fighting, and what better fight than the disposition of his crew as assistance to the Straw Hats?
It would improve Nami's power and Zoro's power.
While it's true that Zoro's strength by then is devastating and probably one of the strongest in East Blue, leveling the power of both Sanji and Nami would prevent some problems, with the loss of Ussop.
Not having a sniper would only bring good things; Axel's help wouldn't be bad. Bartolomé could join even if there isn't much preference. Perhaps luck and destiny would dictate a new companion, a new crewmate skilled in long-range shots whom Luffy would find with his unique traits, traits that only he could discover, even with my system. It's challenging to exploit people's talents until they join.
I can only see their capabilities at the moment they join, but that doesn't matter now.
The journey was fast, just as Axel had said, 12 days with stops at the Animal Islands for the criminals' delivery.
The island was there, not so lonely, an hour away from arrival. Kaim was pensive, with long bags under his eyes; he hadn't slept at night. The fatigue and the presence of Kuro, who had sent pirates after learning that they were the Black Cat crew, were evident.
Later, finding out according to the bounty information and keeping it to himself, he had a concern in his heart that he had ignored at the moment of Axel's warning.
For the Blue Pirates, the plan was different.
The plan was to catch Kuro red-handed. But time is of the essence, and there are new movements in the world calling for Axel to fight head-on. He can't sit and wait.
They landed in the morning, only Axel was tired from the shift change with Merry, who curiously was also a navigator. The sun could already be seen in the sky.
-We'll go first, Axel; I need to get home as soon as possible, - said Kaim.
Axel nodded to Ussop, signaling for him to accompany them. Axel slept in an improvised hammock.
The noon light was back as they brought the ship ashore using Ussop's invented transportation system. A small bay extended to ground the ship and avoid future mishaps.
-I have to go see someone. Do you want to see something interesting? - said Axel.
-Sure, why not, - replied Agatha, reading some magazines.
Both Agatha and Deuce accompanied him, while Ussop ran around the island to share the news after recounting the adventures to Kaya. Needless to say, their iconic "Here come the pirates" walk was still fashionable in the town. New adventures awaited, although there was still a lingering doubt in Axel's mind about Kuro's safety; that didn't bother him much, as he had the confidence they would defeat him sooner or later.
-So, the captain of those bastards is on this island, - said Agatha, surprised to see a bounty higher than her former captain's.
-That's right, my dear queen. This is a Machiavellian plan invented by that captain. His idea was to find Mr. Kaim with some excuse, perhaps targeting the mansion's money, as with him gone, there wouldn't be a man to lead the mansion. He would gradually work on gaining the trust of the townspeople and the mansion to steal it, - explained Axel.
-So, it's because of our interference that Mr. Kaim hasn't suffered too many serious incidents, - added Deuce.
-Yes, initially, we took care of one of the criminals who always stole his goods on the islands. Second, we made some trips to the Goa Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom for the distribution of medicines, which earned him quite a bit of money. Third, we handled the paperwork and sale of businesses in Orange Town city, as well as the replacement of some businesses he needed, - recited Axel.
-Wow, and here I thought we were just pirates, - joked Agatha.
-Of course, we've gained too. Besides, since I came to this island, he has been our sponsor. The bed you sleep in was given by him, as well as the medical books and some other not-so-easy-to-get appliances. His contacts are vital, - Axel explained.
-Leave the rest to me, - said Deuce.
-No, I want to face him. For now, you have no rivals, and I should take on these battles. But you two can stay and watch, - Axel insisted.
-Okay, Captain. I'll do some things. I think I'll look for some recently discovered cooking books. I've developed a particular liking for cooking. Deuce, you're coming with me, - said Agatha.
Axel sighed and continued on his way.
He could hear Deuce whispering to Agatha.
-Guide the way, water woman, - Deuce said aloud as he walked with Agatha, constant division within the crew since most of the time was spent with Deuce and Agatha, who had developed a strong bond, both being elements of water and fire.
-Good luck! - Axel shouted, watching the two from the trees.
After Axel's insistence, they decided to focus on a specialty. Agatha started dedicating herself to cooking. The story she told was that her mother was a cook in a small bar until one day, her village was attacked by pirates. She hid in a barrel, but the pirates took her mother. Captured since then, she never touched cooking again and devoted herself to thievery, theft, and street fights.
On the other hand, Deuce is a frustrated medical student who couldn't find joy in life, either due to his peers or the way they treated others. His medical studies were almost complete, but he left them halfway and decided to set sail one night without telling his family, ending up stranded on a deserted island until we found him.
Agatha's culinary skills were poor, but her cooking and meat preparation improved rapidly with Merry's help. She had some abilities to make desserts and a modest knowledge she was refining about creating spiced wines.
Spiced wines are a secret technique from her island. Making wine wasn't a complicated mix, and in summary, our wine cellar was full of it, thanks to multiple purchases I made with great detail. There was enough to get a whole city drunk. The spatial increase was a blessing - 30 barrels of wine weren't a significant problem, occupying half of the ship's wine cellar.
Agatha had skills in gathering information. In her twelve years of separation, she had not stopped searching for her mother in all possible places. She had a certain knowledge of the black market.
The crew's development was shaped by different types of skills. Transient growth after meeting certain levels helped us fulfill the requirements for people to surpass their limits. An increase of almost 50 and 100 in statistics. It's the gap between the limit that is difficult to break and only a few chosen ones manage to do so.
It's an increase that surpasses the limits that others can't perceive. Therefore, the limits of both Honey Queen and Deuce, as well as Ussop, could escalate and even go beyond their physical and mental capabilities. This could only be achieved through intense battles or training.
-Let's solve things, - said Axel.
