Ten Days Later- Tranquil Island

(Drake's Pov)

Why is it so bright

Where the hell am I

As the sunlight hit me in the face, I fully wake up to a familiar room. It was the same room I stayed in before when I first came to Tranquil Island.

"Yawn"

After about a minute, I noticed my right arm and my stomach were bandaged up as I got up from the bed.

" How long have I been out for?"I asked the system as I opened the window for some fresh air.

" You have been sleeping for exactly 9 days not counting today." The system answered my question in its usual monotone voice.

' Huh, that's surprising, no wonder I feel like I could eat a whole buffet right now. But how come I slept for 10 days? Even if my body was exhausted from the battle, my body should have healed up by now but my arm is still healing?'

" You used up all the energy you had during the battle. Not to mention Morgan absorbed all of your haki which slowed down your healing. Had you stayed awake and your body replenished the energy it lost, you would have been fully healed by now."

" I understand that but what does haki have to do with my body's regeneration?" I questioned the system.

"Your Mad Enhancement body is the perfect combination of your haki along with that increased durability and regeneration. This is why your Mad Enhancement body strength, durability, and regeneration can keep increasing as your haki gets stronger. Once you reach the peak of your haki, your body will stop getting stronger as well."

( This is something I have been wondering about this for a while but does Kaido's near indestructible durability and Big Mom's iron skin have anything to do with advanced conqueror's haki or just haki? I think I saw a theory about it somewhere where their body is shielded by advanced coh at all times combined with their naturally freaky body which makes it nearly indestructible. Correct me if I'm wrong about it. I fix it if I'm completely wrong on this part.)

" I see, so when you're talking about haki, you mean all aspects of it right? I questioned the system as it nodded in my head somehow. I asked when my arms will fully heal as it answered in a day or two.

I took a toothbrush and toothpaste from my storage ring as I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and clean myself up. Always remember to brush your teeth twice a day kids.

10 Minutes Later

As I was freshened up, I came out of the room when the system told me that Morgan was still at Hai Tac island. As I was walking towards the cafeteria, I noticed some of the marines salute me in reverence. I guess them seeing my strength during the battle helped with the increased reverence. I finally arrived at the cafeteria where 10 chefs were cooking up a feast.

" Drake, my friend it's good to see you walking around again. The doctors said you would wake up sometime around today. We decided to cook up a feast before you wake up." The main cook said to me as he noticed me walk into the kitchen.

" Growl" sound came from my stomach making the chief laugh at my embarrassment.

" You must be pretty hungry since your body didn't eat anything for ten days. Just give me a minute and we cook you up something. The main dishes should be done soon." The chef said to me as I sit down at one of the tables.

About five minutes later, some of the chiefs started bringing some appetizers out to the table. I devoured them in a few minutes as I devoured everything. The chiefs would bring out food and in turn, I would eat them in a few minutes.

Eventually, the whole table was covered with food and I couldn't devour them in minutes like before. The chiefs cooked so much food that they had to bring four extra tables to fit everything.

* Munch* * Munch * * Munch*

I was eating some fried rice with my left arm as I somewhat picked up something entering the dining hall although I couldn't tell who it was.

Soon I saw Ethan rushing towards me with a happy smile on his face. He waited for me to finish eating as I gulped down some water.

" Drake, you had no idea how worried I was about you," Ethan said as he hugged me tightly surprising me slightly.

" I think I'm fine now, my arm should fully heal couples from now," I said to him as he stopped hugging me and sat down at the opposite side of the table. He put down a newspaper on the table for me to read after I finish eating. Ethan soon started talking about what I missed during the nine days I was asleep.

" So it was Admiral Sengoku-san who carried me when I was out from the battle. But for him to order to take off the injured pirates is surprising. So what happened to the pirates? Are they being sent to Impel down or somewhere?" I asked Ethan after he told me what happened at the end of the battle.

' I guess Sengoku sparing the pirates isn't surprising. He did the same thing during Marineford. Sengoku didn't end the war because he was scared of Shanks. Rather he saw no point in pointless deaths especially when the marines accomplished their goals.'

'In my opinion, the marines still had enough power to wipe out the Red Hair Pirates. I wonder what kind of justice Sengoku follows tho.'

" We were planning on sending that big three to Impel down but all of three died during that battle. And the rest of the pirates aren't exactly worth the time to transport them to Impel down. They barely have any bounties on their heads."

" So the 500 pirates are currently being transported to various bases with large cells that could accommodate all of them," Ethan said to me as I asked about the casualties on the marine's side. As I asked him about that, that mood instantly became somber.

*Sigh*

Ethan took a deep breath as he started talking about the total death tolls on the marine's side.

" We lost over a thousand brave marines on the battle. We held a memorial for them that day over the battle on this island." Ethan spoke in a bitter voice surprising me on the marine's casualties.

'If I ended the fight between me and Salih a little quicker, could have I saved those marines? Damn it, if I was just a little stronger, all of them wouldn't have to die.' I thought as I couldn't help but reach such a conclusion. I didn't realize it but it looked like I was about to cry.

" Hey knock it off, you can't blame yourself for their deaths. If it's anyone's fault, they should belong to me. Maybe if I thought about a better plan, then maybe they wouldn't have died. "

" You did more than anyone expected from you. We the marines should be ashamed of ourselves that a kid had to save us. You did the best you could have done. Take pride in yourself, kid."

Ethan yelled at me as I stopped thinking about such thoughts. I guess Ethan saw straight through my thoughts.

I nodded at him but I still couldn't get over such a large death toll and how I could have prevented it. It just brought memories about Mom and Albert's, something I just wanted to forget about.

" Alright, I think we talked enough about this."

"BUT CHECK THIS OUT, YOU'RE TOTALLY FAMOUS ACROSS THE WORLD NOW" Ethan yelled in excitement as he slammed the newspaper on the table changing the mood of the conversation. Ethan is a master at leading and controlling a conversation, something I learned every time I talked to him.

I picked up the newspaper as I read through the content on it. As I read through paragraphs, each one surprising me. I didn't even know how that World Economy News Paper got access to such information. Until I realized that WG controls that news agency as Morgan isn't most likely even born yet.

' I gotta get that world's news agency under my control somehow. Information is known to the public is strictly controlled by the WG. If the world finds out some of the crimes the WG did, they may lose control over the world.'

' Forget it, I deal with the news agency once I find its location and come up with a plan for it.' I thought as I continued reading the newspapers.

The news basically talked about the battle and the result of it. It heavily minimized the total death tolls on the marine's side, not surprising. The WG always wants the marines to look undefeatable no matter the situation.

What surprised me the most is how that news agency managed to list all of my accomplishments and my age. They didn't report where I came from, thank god for that.

In the newspaper, they were pictures of me using my dragon rage attack which I guess is where my new epithet came from. Dragon of the West does sound pretty badass.

On the last page, it was a comparison between me and Admiral Sengoku as his past pretty much is the same as my own along with our accomplishments. Sengoku had done similar things at my age as well.

" Congrats on the promotion but how did the news agency get the pictures from the battle." I asked Ethan as he showed me his new coat with the word " Justice" written on the back of it.

" There were several Cameko den mushis on several of the battleships which were taking pictures and videos sending them to a Proko den mushi stationed on this base" Ethan answered my question. I asked about where Sengoku was as Ethan explained he was going through all the bases in the West Blue for the slightest corruption. He was pretty pissed about how just much corruption was going on the bases in the West Blue.

" Speaking of the Admiral, he said he will be returning to Marineford in about a week. You should say goodbye to your friends before that as the Admiral will be bringing you to Marineford." Ethan as we continue about an hour before he had to leave.

" Thank you for the food," I yelled out towards the chefs as I was done and full now.

" YOUR WELCOME, YOU CAN RETURN ANY TIME YOU WANT." The main chef yelled back as I walked out of the dining hall. I want towards the training ground to do some light exercises to my blood pumping again.

I did some light push-ups and pulls for about 30 minutes before I started jogging towards the orphanage. I haven't seen Atalanta and the kids in a while now. From what Ethan said, they were pretty worried about me. They visited me several times when I was asleep during the 9 days. I decided I would get Morgan once I met up with the kids and see the memorial for that soldiers.

Im not sure if any one of you guys saw the tags for this story but one of them is slow progress. I wanna take my time with the main characters in the story.

There will be chapters about them to show bring their personalities and for character development as well. I don't want the characters to be just bland side characters just for the sake of being in the story.

Especially the main character as I will focus heavily on his character development, not just his strength. I don't want an op main character with a boring personality and no growth as a person like most op fanfictions.

So there will be several chapters where the characters do nothing but just explore different things and experience life and just live a normal life once in a while.

There will be chapters where the main character won't be in it at all. In between, there won't be fights in every chapter either. So if your looking for a fast-paced story with a generic main character, then this story isn't for you.
