Chapter 6: Obtaining the Ope Ope no Mi

[ 6 months later]

Lami and co had made no progress find a cure for the White Lead disease, despite spending countless days going through different hospitals and visiting experts in medicine from around the North Blue.

Despite all their efforts the disease remanded uncurable but its progression has halted due to the cultivating techniques that Lami had developed.

In these past few months, the relationship between Law and Corazon has grown stronger, as Law started seeing Corazon as a mentor and also a father figure. Law has also progressed in his medical studies.

Lami has started taking pills that she developed to help her cultivation techniques be more effective. She also has been giving the task of collecting the herbs to Law who has more knowledge when it comes to medicinal plants.

Lami and co were currently having a nice rest after a long day of trying different treatments and techniques to cure the White Lead disease. But their rest was interrupted by a call from Doflamingo.

Corazon picked up the call feeling uneasy as he knew that Doflamingo have figured out that he betrayed him. However, the call brought surprising news.

Doflamingo had discovered a lead on a possible cure for the White lead disease. Everyone was shocked and excited but remained cautious as they knew Doflamingo could have hidden motives.

Although they were cautious they were filled with hope for the first time in months. As the call ended Corazon jump in excitement as he now had a way to cure the siblings.

" Can the Ope Ope no mi be able to cure White Lead?" Lami and Law asked with hope-filled in their eyes. Corazon responded as he looked towards Law," It's possible in the hands of someone with medical knowledge,"

Lami understood the gesture and knew that Law had to eat the fruit to stand any chance of curing them both. However, Law was still confused so she spoke," Law you are the one who is going to eat the Ope Ope no mi,"

Law was stunned as he knew that the Ope Ope no mi was a very powerful fruit," Won't it make sense if Lami ate it since she is more skilled in combat than me?" Corazon interrupted," It's medical knowledge that is needed to use its full potential and you Law have that knowledge".

" Plus it won't suit my fighting style," Lami added with a smile. Law was still hesitant but he knew that he had to save them no matter the cost

" It won't your fighting style? What kind of devil do you want to eat?" Law asked with a chuckle.

Lami smiled mischievously and said," That a secret for now". With a newfound sense of hope, the group set their eyes on obtaining the Ope Ope no mi before it falls into the hands of Doflamingo.

Corazon decided to call his employer and try to find the location of the Ope Ope no mi. His employer was shocked at the information that someone other than the Navy was interested in the fruit and knew the location.

After obtaining the location of the fruit Corazon and Co decided to sail in hopes of reaching the Island before Doflamingo and his crew arrive.

[ Minion Island]

As the group approached the Island they notice that it was heavily guarded which meant that they have to be very careful in their approach. They docked the small boat and made their way towards the Island with caution, avoiding any potential traps and the guards that were patrolling.

They found a hidden abandoned house on the skirts of the Island where they made camp and plotted their next move.

Lami and Co knew they had to move fast before Doflamingo arrives on the island. Corazon suggested they split up, he would go and steal the fruit while Law and Lami would wait for him.

However, Lami was not comfortable with splitting up as she knew it was too risky," That's too dangerous, Rosinante I will go with y-,"

"No! you and Law will stay here and wait for me, it's too risky if Doflamingo finds us in one spot," Corazon interrupted. Lami sighed and nodded," You better come back alive Rosinante, or else I won't forgive you".

Law watched in silent agreement as Corazon set out to retrieve the Ope Ope no mi. Corazon's departure was met with mixed emotions from the siblings.

As time passed, the siblings suddenly heard gunshots so they rushed outside only to find Corazon running towards them with a red, heart-shaped fruit that resembles a strawberry and had a swirl pattern on it.

Lami and Law asked in unison " Is that the fruit?". Corazon nodded as he handed the fruit to Law and said," Law here you go and remember what I said about its power, use it however you wish it's yours now". Corazon was referring to the Eternal Youth Operation which grants immortality at the cost of the user's life.

Law hesitated for a moment before he gulped the fruit in one go. " This taste like sh*t," Law muttered under his breath as he swallowed the fruit.

" Lami you were right devil fruit does give off a weird energy, I can feel it inside me it's similar to the energy that radiates from Corazon and all the Devil fruits users we have met," he exclaimed excitedly.

" Wait a moment you two can sense Devil fruit users from their energy?" Corazon asked in surprise.

" Yeah something like that but we need to hurry up and leave because I'm currently sensing a group of Devil fruit users coming toward the Island, I'm guessing it's Doflamingo's ship," warned Lami.

As the trio was about to move Corazon suddenly dropped to his knees coughing blood and gasping for air. " Are you ok Cora-san!?" Law asked in concern.

" So that blood that I was smelling is yours?" Lami questioned worriedly. Corazon nodded weakly as he took out a small note and handed it to Law. " Take that and hand it over to the Marines that are on this Island it contains all the information on Doflamingo and his future schemes".

" Wait is no way we can save you?" Law asked feeling desperate and sad. " Try activating your fruit powers and save him," Lami suggested.

" But how do I even do it?" Law questioned back, feeling lost and helpless. " I don't know how about you try creating a sphere like how Corazon activates his powers or something," Lami suggested back.

Law closed his eyes and concentrated, he felt the strange energy inside him resonating with his will. A transparent sphere started forming around Corazon he was struggling to keep its shape as Law poured more and more of his power into it.

" I can feel bullets inside you let me try and remove them," said Law as he focused his energy on the sphere hoping it does not collapse under the pressure as he started operating on Corazon's body.

With every passing moment, Law's power grew stronger and he was successful in removing the bullets from Corazon's body. Finally, Law collapsed to the ground exhausted, the sphere disappeared and Corazon was breathing normally.

The trio saved Corazon's life but more danger was still ahead as they had to escape from Doflamingo. " Are okay now?" Law asked Corazon still concerned for his well-being.

" Well the pain is still there but the bullets are out of my body thanks to you, you saved my life," Corazon said gratefully his eyes filled with tears of gratitude.

Law felt a sense of relief and happiness at Corazon's words. " Not to spoil the mood but we need to get going before Doflamingo's crew catches up to us," Lami reminded them, breaking the mood.

" Wait before that," Corazon stood up with some difficulty," Give me the note I gave you earlier, we need to ensure that it reaches the Marines and Doflamingo's plans are thwarted."

Law handed over the note to Corazon who started walking towards the ship of the Marines. " Won't the Marines recognize you as a traitor?" Lami asked worried about the safety of Corazon.

" It doesn't matter as long as I bring down Doflamingo," Corazon stated determinedly. " Can't we just find an isolated Marine and hand over the note to them without getting exposed?" Law suggested, worried about his safety.

"That's not such a bad idea I can actually sense a lone Marine near us," Lami said as she sensed the Qi of someone moving towards them. The trio moved toward the lone Marine to hand over the note and avoid unnecessary attention.

As they reached the Marine Corazon gave a grave expression as he saw Marine's face. " Vergo," he said in shock and disbelief. ' You have got to be kidding me this is his secret mission,' thought Corazon as he saw the right-hand man of Doflamingo approaching them.

" What are you doing here Rosinante?" asked Vergo confused at the sight of Corazon. " Wait did you just speak just now? No need to answer, I can guess what you are up to".

' Vergo? Wait is he the first Corazon?' Law thought in shock, realizing the connection between the two.

Tension rose as Vergo decided to remove his hood, preparing for a fight. " I will teach you what happens to traitors second Corazon," Vergo declared, getting into his fighting stance.

Law and Lami pulled short knives from whoever knows where and also got into a fighting stance ready to protect themselves and Corazon as he was still injured. The three stood against Vergo knowing that their lives depended on their victory. Their hearts racing with adrenaline as the fight began.

Vergo made the first move, lunging toward Corazon with a powerful punch. But Lami interrupted the attack with a well-aimed kick, giving Corazon enough time to send a kick of his own toward Vergo's stomach, causing him to stumble back.

Law joined in, launching a surprise attack from behind Vergo with his knives but Vergo dodged the attack without even turning around. Vergo countered with a punch aimed at Law's face, but Vergo pulled back his punch as Lami intercepted it with her knife deflecting the blow.

" Time to get serious," Vergo stated as he imbued his whole entire body with Busoshoku Haki, increasing his speed and power. The trio braced for impact as they prepared to counter Vergo's full power with their skills and strength.

The fight continued with intense power being displayed by Vergo who was now overpowering the trio. A few minutes passed Law and Corazon laying on the ground injured from Vergo's attacks and Lami was struggling to keep up with Vergo's incredible strength.

" Why do you continue fighting, even if you can use Kenbunshoku Haki to dodge my moves and land counters you can't injure me, no matter how many skills you possess without Busoshoku Haki you can never beat me," mocked Vergo as he landed yet another punch on Lami, causing her to fall on the ground in pain.

' I refuse to fall here after I found a way to cure the incurable, I won't be defeated by someone's errand boy! Who does this guy think he is? Underestimating ME THE FORMER ICE EMPRESS, he has to pay for his arrogance!" Lami thought to herself as she suddenly felt a surge of power within her.

' There goes that feeling again it's like my willpower wants to explode, Wait I know what this is! This Haoshoku Haki!" Lami realized with a sense of shock and excitement. Lami gathered all her strength and stood up, eyeing Vergo with determination.

" Corazon, Law I'm about to launch my last attack against Vergo, after that, we have to run we can't beat him on this day," Lami declared as she held her knife in front of her and it started to glow in a bright icy blue aura which was her sword intent.

' What's that? If I remember correctly Doffy said this brat has weird martial arts skills, is she about to launch one now I have to be cautious,' thought Vergo as he watched Lami with a serious expression.

Lami charged toward Vergo with her knife, and just as they were about to clash, Lami unleashed a powerful burst of Haoshoku Haki, creating a massive shock wave that stunned Vergo and made him lose his balance.

' Wait, that brat can use Haoshoku Haki? Why am I not moving? How is that possible for that brat to possess such a will at such a young age? Doffy never told me about this!' Vergo thought to himself as he felt his body refuse to respond to his commands.

Lami seized the moment as she charged toward Vergo leaving a trail of icy blue light behind her, as she swung her knife in a swift motion creating multiple illusory blades that rained down on Vergo while she unconsciously fused her attack with Haoshoku Haki amplifying it's effect.

The blades hit Vergo with tremendous force, causing him to be thrown back and crash to a nearby wall creating a massive impact. Lami kneed to the ground from exhaustion."Let's hurry and leave that won't be enough to kill him but he is deeply injured," panted Lami as she wiped the blood from her mouth.

Corazon and Law rushed to Lami's side, helping her up as they quickly made their escape from the area, leaving Vergo behind in his injured state.

At that same several bodies lay on the ground showing signs of an intense battle that had taken place. Doflamingo just got the news that his brother has stolen the Ope Ope no mi from him and he was furious.

" If there are still on the Island they will not escape my wrath," Doflamingo declared as he started making string-like things from his fingers.
