Chapter 1: I am the Vice Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates

Hey guys, InkDemon here. I'm here to announce that this is a new Fic I'm translating as it is a really interesting novel. This is a mix of both Pokemon (Game version) and One Piece. But as I'm also reading it, I haven't gotten far, but I'll try to pick up the pace and post at least 2 Chapters a day, it will slow down later unless your support is overwhelming, lol.

Advanced Patreon Chapters aren't available for this fic yet, but you will be informed when it is. (Probably by chapter 10 or so)

---

The gentle sunlight bathed the sea, casting a shimmering golden hue over the water like a delicate veil. Waves rhythmically collided with the wooden hull, urging the ship forward as if whispering secrets of distant adventures.

In this vast ocean, a small boat, no more significant than a fallen leaf, embarked on its journey. With the villagers' blessings lingering in the air, it set sail towards an unknown and mysterious future.

Aboard this humble vessel, which could barely accommodate three people had a heap of supplies, a young man who donned a straw hat and a red vest with A prominent scar marked under his left eye, but his face radiated joy and anticipation.

He clapped his hands with glee, laughter bubbling over as he shouted, "Shishishi~ Akane! I knew you'd join me on my adventure! I've told you before; I can't become the Pirate King without you!" he declared, his excitement infectious as he playfully slapped the back of the boy across from him.

Papapapa…!!!

The boy, unable to dodge Luffy's exuberant gestures, was about the same age and sported shaggy hair under a red baseball cap. With a burst of frustration, he finally retaliated, his fist meeting Luffy's face with a satisfying thud.

"Ugh… you idiot! That hurts!" he yelled, driving his fist deeper into Luffy's elastic head.

"... Ugh... Sorry, I know I was wrong…" Luffy mumbled, his face squashed comically as he quickly apologized with practiced ease.

"You better mean it!" The boy pulled back, shaking his head at Luffy's predictable antics. He rubbed his slightly bruised shoulder, knowing all too well that Luffy never really learned his lesson.

For Akane, the boy in the red cap, these moments were now a regular part of life. Two and a half years had passed since he mysteriously found himself in this world, a place filled with pirates and adventure. Once an ordinary college student on Earth with a penchant for anime, novels, games, and flying airplanes, fate had taken a bizarre turn.

A comic convention near his school had caught his interest, and on a whim, he bought a simple cosplay costume online, the iconic red and white suit of Red from Pokémon. The convention was a vibrant, bustling affair, a feast for the eyes of any nerd. But fate had other plans.

On his way back home, an out-of-control dump truck hurtled toward him, and before he knew it, his soul was transported into this new world. Now he was Akane, a 14-year-old orphan boy, who had the same name as his Earthly identity.

Ironically, his new home was in Windmill Village in the Goa Kingdom of East Blue, one of the most notable locations in the One Piece world.

"If I'd known I'd end up here, I wouldn't have given up on One Piece so early," Akane mused, watching Luffy's antics. Since the anime's infamous filler arcs had put him off, he'd stopped following it after the Summit War at Marineford, a decision he now regretted. (TN - The war could also be called the war of the best)

Thankfully, YouTube and various fan channels had kept him somewhat informed about the storyline's major arcs post-Marineford. He knew about Garp's downfall on Hachinosu Island. But in all his time here, Garp hadn't once returned to Windmill Village.

"His grandfather only visits every few years, and his father doesn't care at all," Akane pondered aloud. "No wonder Luffy idolizes Red-Haired Shanks and dreams of becoming the Pirate King."

"Hey, Luffy!" Akane's voice snapped Luffy out of his mischief as he reached for the supply box again.

Caught red-handed, Luffy grinned sheepishly. "Ah… haha… I was just checking if the food's gone bad."

"It's been a few hours since we set sail. What do you think could have happened to the food?" Akane scolded, shaking his head in disbelief.

Despite the rocking boat, Akane stood firm and pulled Luffy aside. "From now on, you're on lookout duty and in charge of navigation. I'll handle the supplies. Food and water are precious out here. Don't mess around!"

Akane plopped down beside the food, blocking Luffy's eager gaze. He wasn't about to risk starvation due to Luffy's insatiable appetite.

Looking around their cramped boat, Akane sighed. "If only I'd saved up for a proper ship instead of squeezing onto this tiny fishing boat with Luffy," he lamented, his eyes glinting with helplessness.

His decision to accompany Luffy was spontaneous, sparked by the awakening of a mysterious power within him. Without it, he wouldn't have dared venture into the perilous seas so unprepared. Akane was cautious by nature, never engaging in battles without preparation. This voyage, however, caught him off guard.

Thankfully, he and Luffy had bonded well over the past two years. His influence tempered some of Luffy's reckless tendencies, allowing them to sidestep danger. But he knew he had to make Luffy understand the gravity of their situation.

"Luffy, remember our agreement? You're the captain, but as vice-captain, I can veto any decision. That includes when and how much you eat. Being a pirate isn't a game. We bear the fate of our crew."

"If we act recklessly, we won't get far," Akane warned. They were inexperienced sailors, unable to read nautical charts, and couldn't afford Luffy's impulsiveness.

They'd already altered their departure to avoid the whirlpool that once blocked Windmill Town's entrance. But the sea was merciless, and who knew what dangers awaited them.

"Oh, okay. I won't touch it," Luffy conceded, leaning against the railing, his spirit slightly subdued.

Despite being captain, Luffy had learned to trust Akane's judgment over the years. An adventure one night had convinced him to listen to Akane, and things would usually go right.

Seeing Luffy's compliance, Akane felt a flicker of relief. Even if it meant Luffy wasn't as carefree as in the original story, it was better for him to learn important lessons early than to regret them later.

Yet, expecting Luffy to calm down was as futile as expecting Zoro to find the final island, Laugh Tale, without getting lost.

After a mere five minutes, Luffy bounced back, sidling up to Akane with excitement. "Hey, Akane! When can we visit that world again?"

"That world with all those amazing creatures! It was so much fun; I didn't get to explore enough last time!"

"I wanna catch some of those animals to be our pets and adventure with us!"

"Those are called Pokémon," Akane corrected, directing the compass while fixing Luffy's navigational blunders.

Despite telling Luffy countless times, he still couldn't remember the word "Pokémon." Akane chuckled inwardly and glanced at the NS handheld console embedded in his mind.

After checking the battery, he replied, "We'll have enough power for a full adventure after dark."

"Ah, we have to wait until night?" Luffy deflated like a balloon, his excitement waning.

Akane, engrossed in the nautical chart, shot him a look. "It's only a few hours. You think I don't want to go sooner?"

"Just sit tight and let me focus. If we get lost, we'll be in trouble."

"Oh~ Okay~" Luffy straightened his straw hat, resuming his post at the bow.

Although the wait was long, the thought of exploring another world thrilled Luffy.

"Hehe~ Even if he's a bit strict, adventuring with Akane is awesome!"

"I'll definitely be the Pirate King!" Luffy declared, his voice carrying across the vast ocean.

Akane's ears perked up, and he couldn't help but smile. "As expected of Luffy, always so full of spirit."

"Well, since you're my first Pokémon, the title of Pirate King…"

"This trainer will help you claim it!"
