“Hey, John. It’s me, Ster—I mean, Wayne. James and I are reunited, and I promise I’ll take care of him. I’m more than capable of giving him everything he needs and wants, and I love him more than life itself. I’ll look after him. You have nothing to worry about. I give you my word.”
After that, Zeke and Sterling continued to embrace each other. When they eventually separated, Zeke was a little astonished to discover he was alone with Sterling and John. The deity of fate and marriage was no longer with them. Zeke was about to speak up when Oliver and Mrs. Wong entered.
“I think Sterling and I will be leaving now,” he said to them. “You two need some privacy with John.”
Mrs. Wong nodded. “Thank you, Sterling, Zeke. Oliver will keep in touch with you.”
“All right then.”
