However, when Sterling left the bathroom, Zeke’s somber expression took him aback. He knew something was wrong.
“It’s John,” Zeke said.
Sterling’s lips ran dry. “Is he—”
“Not yet, but he’s not doing well. He’s slipped into a coma. That was Oliver on the phone. Apparently, John had left an instruction with the nurses to inform Oliver to contact me in case something like this occurred.”
Sterling didn’t quite know how he was supposed to respond. “Uh, are you going to visit him?”
“It’s nearly eight o’clock, and I know we’ve missed dinner, but do you mind accompanying me to the hospital?”
“Not at all. Let’s take a quick shower before we leave.”
Zeke smiled, but it looked rather forced. Sterling embraced him, and Zeke sobbed a little as he buried his face against Sterling’s chest.
“Thank you.”
