Chapter Eighteen : The South

I closed my eyes thinking it was my end. I was broken inside. I thought I failed to keep my promise. I swore to Edward that I would protect my child. But finally it was going to end.

I took a deep breath. But it was good in a way. I could finally meet Edward again. I was prepared to take the final attack.

But it seemed like the almighty had some other plans.

A bunch of fierce, big wolves suddenly made an appearance out of nowhere. My autonomic reflexes had me in a defensive position already to dodge the attack from Zen.

But when I heard loud noises and growling I opened my eyes to find that Zen was pinned down on the ground struggling under three huge wolves. The wolves were way bigger in size comparing Zen and I was sure that my senses were intact. Because I was feeling the presence of alpha wolves. Not just one. The whole bunch was full of alphas.

Two of Zen's companions were lying there dead. The others were already captured and forced to turn back into their human forms. I was shocked, not getting what was exactly going on. I was back to my human form when I tripped.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. A strong wolf like Zen was captured. Zen was the war Commander. He was not just some alpha. He was invincible, at least that was what our pack believed.

But looking at him struggling under the bigger wolves left me standing there almost traumatised. But I didn't get much of time to wonder.

Suddenly someone from behind grabbed my shoulders, forced me to seat on my knees. Placed cuffs on my hands. Confusedly I was looking at right and left.

We were captured. The wolves were turned back into their human forms as well.

They were a bunch of beautiful guys with huge built. Their perfect abs and prominent veins were screaming the dominance of their strength.

"Well well, look who is here," one of the guy said grabbing Zen's chin.

Zen growled in anger but he was lessened by the strong holds.

"Take the intruders into the carriage," another guy ordered. "And take special care of this one," he looked at Zen and said.

"You shouldn’t have dared to return here," the guy who was taking Zen in chains said.

"We are not intruders!" I screamed.

All of their eyes turned to me.

"You people are here crossing the boundary. We haven’t crossed the border yet. You are not taking intruders, you are kidnapping us," I said.

The guy who looked like the leader of the group came to me. I shrunk in fear. He was tall and huge.

All of them were looking so different. As if we suddenly came to a realm of fallen angels .

But I felt afraid. He came close to me.

''Who are you?" he asked.

"Seems like she is the reason why we caught this one," another guy smirked and said.

"You people have no right to capture us here," I said again.

"This is a no man's area. But seemed like you were planning to cross the border anyway," the guy in front of me smirked and said.

"This guy ran away with his life after living here in disguise for years. We thought he wouldn’t dare to set his foot in south again," the guy looked at Zen and said.

The guys kept teasing Zen and his companions continuously like some high school bullies.

I didn’t know what relation they had actually or how they knew each other. But whatever it was between them, not anything good for sure. I wanted to go to south but not to get captured. I was trying to think how to get rid of this situation.

"The emperor would love to meet you, Zen," the leader of the group said.

But there was one guy who caught my attention. He didn’t spoke the entire time. He was way calmer than the others, standing quietly afar, leaning against the carriage. He was dressed more formally than the other. There was something very royal about his aura. Beautiful blonde hairs, a bit long touching almost his neck.

He was quietly observing everything. When I was about to be taken to the carriage with the other prisoners.

"Not her," he ordered the guys in a lower voice.

The men who were taking me paused for a moment in confusion. The guy whom I was thinking as their leader intervened.

"Why not ?"he asked frowning.

''I'm not obliged to answer anyone but the emperor," the blonde guy replied sharply. "Take her with the special one," he ordered the guys.

The guys were standing there in dilemma. Seemed like both of the guys were of high statuses and the guys were not sure whose order to follow.

"You should be aware of the fact that even though you are precious to our emperor, the commander's unit doesn't follow your lead. Explain why she should be taken separately or she goes with the other prisoners," the leader guy said.

"I really wonder how you ended up leading the commander's squad with such poor sense of perception when you can't even detect an alpha," the blonde guy replied.

The other guy just gritted his teeth and turned back to me.

"This one is rare. Take her to the main carriage," he ordered.

Everything was getting hazier. I didn't know what was awaiting for me in future. I didn't know if I had a future at all.

In the carriage I was with Zen. We were surrounded by some of the guys. The others left with the blonde guy.

We crossed the border. Zen was quiet the whole time. He wasn't even looking at me.

"Who are they ?" I asked him.

He just looked at me once annoyed and then looked out of the window.

"We are trapped, Zen," I said again hoping an answer.

"You are trapped," he said coldly. "You think they can hold me in here like this ? I will get out of this. But you should start praying. Whether you stay here or get out of here ,you are going to pay for everything you did," he said angrily.

I felt disgusted. He wasn't going to be of any help. I wasn't out of the trauma of Edward's death.

My mind was blank. I looked out of the window. The scenery outside started to change and wear a new look I had never seen before. The south was an another mystery.
