Chapter Eight : The first encounter ( Part Two)

I saw someone's hand grabbing the butt of the knife and pulled it out from my arm. I screamed in pain. I was bleeding heavily. The whole hall went silent. Everyone was shocked. I was again forced to get up. I looked into the person who just attacked me and was still grabbing my injured arm right where I was bleeding.

A very beautiful girl with ocean blue eyes, matching her pale white skin and pitch black long hairs were touching her knees. Her clothes were ancient looking. That white piece of clothing that was wrapping her whole body was making her to look like a goddess from an ancient myth.

But her action startled everyone. Even Zen was taken aback by her sudden behaviour.

"Claire! You are going too far. Leave her hand, " the oracle ordered.

"Tsk- How dare you to put your filthy hands on my mate, you b!tch?" she asked ignoring the oracle.

"Mate?" I asked back confusedly. My arm was hurting like hell. She was still applying pressure on my wound.

"Let her go, Claire," Zen said. She looked into my eyes hatefully and then suddenly let go of my arm.

I quickly grabbed my injured arm and sat on my knees. Lexa was in an eternal sleep. So the self recovery was not possible for me at that time. So the oracle came down quickly to treat my wounds. She asked a girl to bring the first aid.

"Claire! I told you not to come here," Zen grabbed the girl with force and said angrily.

"How could you let that selfish brat to touch you, threaten you ? It was her fault that my father died, she doesn't deserve to live. Why are you keeping her alive!? Just take it from her already and finish this off," she shouted at Zen.

I was looking at them. I didn’t remember seeing her in the pack before. I looked at the oracle confusedly. In between treating my wound, she said, "This is Claire, the daughter of our late war general. She is an alpha female."

Zen and Claire were arguing. Zen took her out of the room to calm her down.

The oracle continued, "Claire is an alpha female. She was the only alpha female in our pack, so the alpha wanted her to stay outside of the pack till she was ready for the war. Her father was with the alpha the night you ran away. The alpha and both of your mates made it back to the pack, but he died. Now Claire thinks that you are responsible for her father's death."

The oracle finished stitching my wound, I cried out a bit in pain as she applied pressure.

"Do you also believe that it was my fault?" I asked the oracle. But she didn’t reply to my question.

Instead she continued, "She is chosen as the new luna of the pack. Zen chose her the day she returned. But Zen chose her for a purpose. Come at tonight's conclave."

"Conclave?" I asked.

"Claire is challenged for the luna's position. There are three more alpha females in our alliance packs. And two of them challenged her for the next luna's position. So there will be a conclave tonight to decide the final luna of the pack," the oracle gave a mysterious smile and said.

"What about the third one?" I asked. "Does she have a mate already?"

"We don't know if she is really an alpha or not," the oracle replied.

"Why after all these years? I don't get it. If Zen had chosen her years ago, then why didn’t he mate with her? And why after all these years they are holding this conclave? " I asked her.

The oracle laughed a bit and looked into my eyes and said, "The third alpha female was absent all these years."

"Don't speak in haikus," I replied confusedly.

"Ahm, lady, you should not talk to elderly people like this," the oracle said looking a bit offended. Then she said, "We didn’t know about her being an alpha."

"You are joking with me. There is no way you are indicating me as an alpha female," I said doubtfully.

The hall was emptied. Only the oracle and I were left.

"Your body may not be, but your wolf sure is. I doubted this the day you were rejected," the oracle said again.

"What is your point? Even if she is an alpha it doesn’t matter now. My body is fragile. You can not use her. And I am married. So I am definitely not participating in any conclave to win someone whom I rejected as my mate," I said.

"You're getting it wrong, Ella. Claire is the chosen one. But It is your wolf that is in the way," the oracle said. "The Spring seeks your wolf," she said again mysteriously.

"Spring? What spring are you talking about?" I asked.

The only spring I had ever heard of was a myth or better to say a story in my nursery book. The sacred mystic spring, that would open and bless the wolves with its moon water once in a thousand year. No one ever saw that. Were they really believing into a nursery child's book after all these years? I wondered.

"The spring will open soon, Ella. It is time. I had the vision. The soul that the spring seeks is in our pack. I followed the rituals. But it rejected all the alpha females including ours. You are the one left, Ella."

"Don't twist it more than it already is. You said my body is not an alpha wolfs. Even if Lexa is an alpha, you can not use me," I said.

"That you will slowly understand. You will get your answers at the right moment. But take my advice, don't try to look for Edward or run away, Zen is now raging with a desire for vengeance. It will only hurt you and cost Edward's life. Come to the conclave in the evening. You will be able to see your husband there as well," the oracle warned me and left me in the hall alone.

I was having a bad feeling about all these. It was more twisted than she even hinted.

I kept my hand over my belly. No one knew about it here. I had to get away. For Edward's sake, for our baby's sake. I was not feeling safe there anymore. Whatever the oracle explained hinted nothing but trouble.

I quickly got up and decided to find Alex. Only he could help me to get out of this. At least no one involved with him died that night or after that. He still didn’t have any reason to kill me I believed. I hastily left the hall to find Alex.
