Noble Emblem

A young Brave walked out of his village, gathered companions to his side, defeated the Great Demon King, became famous, then came back with beauties in hand! This was a legend that appears in the world of Seyrol every 200 years! Our protagonist, however, isn’t a Brave. Even so, for over a thousand years his figure has loomed throughout its history. Unwittingly, the name of the Red Priest began to resound throughout the world. Red Priest’s legend included extraordinary sword techniques and magic, erudite knowledge, and an almost prophetic ability to lead young Braves toward the proper path. People of the world think of him as a descendent of the ancient Golden Race which led to his omnipotence. In essence, however, this was just the characteristics of the profession known as ‘Noble’. A word from the fabulousest translator/editor on Earth which is me I took upon this translation/editing project for the same reason I started translating my first Chinese novel. There are just too many big ass gems buried in a deep cesspool. I've long guessed that Qidian stopped introducing good Chinese novels on this platform in order to give some breathing room for English (and other) originals, but I don't agree with such approach. From a reader's standpoint, it is such a shame that we don't even know how many brilliant works we are missing because of the language barrier. To be honest, I'm mainly copypasting from the site called Novelhi. It is a really good resource and their machine translation is the best I've seen so far, and they also translate up to the latest available chapter. Still, they have several issues. For some reason they always miss the last paragraph which make you can missout on a potentially very important information related to a story, and they also have parts where just a couple of words gets repeated for a whole paragraph and it actually replaces the original text. They also translate an ad together with a chapter which is immersion breaking. I'll be correcting the inherent sins of such MTL with manual editing and translation and I will also polish some rough edges so that the readers will have as much seemless reading experience as possible. You will definitely have a better time reading this than me for sure

Level up (3)

The Monochrome Magic Tower was a faction of spellcasters who specialized in spatial abilities. The Association of Mages used to be a whole. Later, it split into several organizations because of factional disputes. Generally, they were identified by the main color of their magic. For example, the Red Magic Tower was a group of spellcasters who specialized in fire, the Blue Magic Tower was a group of spellcasters who specialized in water, and the Monochrome Magic Tower was a group of spellcasters who specialized in spatial abilities. They were also the organization with the fewest members among all the spellcasters.

Generally speaking, only the people of the Monochrome Magic Tower could use spatial equipment. It was because opening and closing a space required a certain understanding of spatial concepts, spatial magic, and enough mental power. Every player had a spatial backpack that they could open at will. It was a benefit given by the system and couldn't be transferred. However, in this real world, using spatial equipment was still the privilege of spatial Mages. For that reason, it wasn't too surprising that the spellcasters who sold alchemical magic items made a wrong judgment.

Spatial equipment was rare but also very practical. However, in this world, nobody would deliberately steal spatial equipment, because if they could use spatial equipment, it would be more appropriate to go to the Monochrome Magic Tower and spend some gold coins to buy a spatial equipment. Because of talent, the number of people who could use spatial magic was even fewer than the number of people who could create spatial equipment. If someone came to buy spatial equipment, the people of the Monochrome Magic Tower would definitely sell it to them at half the cost and then beg them to join the Monochrome Magic Tower. It couldn't be helped. There were too few spellcasters in the Monochrome Magic Tower!

If they joined the Monochrome Magic Tower, they would also be given a beginner spatial backpack for free.

Liang Lidong knew that because he used the spatial backpack, the guy thought that he was a spatial spellcaster. He said casually, "I'm just a believer of Goddess Woking right now. I have nothing to do with the Monochrome Magic Tower."

The black-robed spellcaster was stunned for a moment. He asked back, "Goddess Woking? What kind of god is she? "

It was Liang Lidong's turn to stare blankly. Though the Woking goddess was not one of the four main deities, there were many who worshipped her due to her divine title of 'Wealth'. It would be excusable if the villagers of Reed Village did not know about the goddess since they had too little access to knowledge and information, but if a proper spellcaster did not know about the Woking goddess, it would mean that there was something wrong with the other party or Liang Lidong's own knowledge.

"A god in charge of wealth!" Liang Lidong replied.

The black-gowned mage thought for a moment, and a helpless expression appeared on his aged face. "Sir priest, I am sorry. Perhaps I am old and have forgotten many things. I can no longer remember Goddess Woking, this mighty goddess."

The black-gowned mage was giving both parties a way out of this awkward situation. After all, it was impolite to say that one did not know the god that the believer worshipped in front of him. Liang Lidong did not mind. He was not a true believer. He only intended to make some contributions to the Woking goddess in exchange for one or two divine spells.

"It doesn't matter. The goddess does not care about what people think of her." Liang Lidong did not want to embarrass a spellcaster, so he changed the topic. "Sir, you asked if I was a member of the Monochrome Magic Tower. Is there something I can help you with?"

"My name is Carl Humphrey. Sir, you can call me Carl." The black-gowned mage nodded slightly. "I do have a very important matter that I would like to ask for your help with. It is difficult for me, but it is very easy for you, sir! I wonder if you have heard of Spatial Anchor. "

"I have." Liang Lidong nodded.

The black-gowned mage's eyes lit up. "Then do you know this spell, sir?"

"Are you going to fix your mental space?" Liang Lidong asked back.

The black-gowned mage smiled bitterly. "I can't help it. I was too radical when I was young and recorded many spells into slots without fully understanding them. Now the consequences are showing. My mental space has become very unstable, and it has become very difficult for me to cast spells. If this continues, Magic Burial will be my only way out."

Mana Burial was actually a form of self-destruction. If a spell was not fully analyzed and recorded into slots, there would be serious consequences. If it was a player, their magic power would be reduced, and the failure rate would be higher when they cast spells. If it was an NPC spellcaster, the consequences would be even more serious. Not only would they suffer from the above two conditions, but their mental space would also gradually become unstable. Not only would they not be able to cast spells, but their mental space would also collapse in the end, causing chaos in their own magic power. All kinds of magic elements would mix together and cause an explosion, which would not only blow them to pieces, but also greatly affect their surroundings.

Generally speaking, the spellcasters whose mental space was unstable would disperse all their magic power before Magic Burial arrived and become an ordinary person. This way, they could live a longer life. However, who would be willing to become an ordinary person again after they became a spellcaster? So, before Magic Burial arrived, these Mages would try their best to find a way to fix their mental space.

And the spatial spell 'Spatial Anchor' was a very good 'prescription'. The spiritual space was also a 'space'. If this spell was used properly, it could establish a fixed point in the spiritual space, causing the gradually unstable spiritual space to become 'fixed', thus avoiding the evil consequences of the spiritual space collapsing. However, everything had its pros and cons. After using Spatial Anchor to forcibly fix the mental space, the mental space would always be like this, unable to expand or grow.

In other words, if the black-robed Mage used Spatial Anchor, he would forever be a spellcaster of this level, unable to increase his character level or learn new spells. However, divine spells could still be used. After all, divine spells didn't need to take up spell slots.

"I've seen Spatial Anchor before. Although I can't use it, I know how to make magic scrolls. I'm sure you're worried about me entering your mental space to use this spell, so magic scrolls are the best choice." Liang Lidong already understood what the other party meant. "Also, you should understand that the creation of magic scrolls takes time, and it won't succeed every time."

"I know very well!" The black-robed Mage bent down and took out a black rectangular wooden box from under the counter, then pushed it to Liang Lidong. "This is the material I prepared a long time ago, waiting for someone like you to come to me. Do you know how long I've waited? It's been almost ten years. I had already given up hope, but I didn't expect to wait until you came. How lucky! "

The black-robed Mage looked very excited.

"Why don't you go to the Monochrome Magic Tower and ask for help yourself?" Liang Lidong was slightly confused. "The locations of the various Magic Towers are secrets for civilians, but for people like us, it's common sense. I believe they should be willing to help you. "

"I'm a War Mage!"

Liang Lidong shrugged helplessly. "Then there's no other way."

The so-called War Mage was a Mage who joined a country and participated in all kinds of wars, his hands stained with the blood and tears of hostile countries. Generally speaking, once a War Mage went to a hostile country, he would definitely be warmly received, and to go to the Monochrome Magic Tower, he had to pass through Udabri, which was a hostile country to Hollevin. The black-robed Mage's mental space was already unstable, and his strength had been greatly reduced. If he set foot on Udabri's territory, he would definitely not be able to return.

Liang Lidong put the black wooden box into his spatial bag and said, "I'm temporarily staying in Reed Village, west of Winterwind's outer city. Come and find me in five days. Whether you succeed or not, we'll know by then."

"I understand. Thank you, sir." The black-robed Mage Karl thanked Liang Lidong.

They didn't talk about payment. Mages rarely talked about payment, because it was unnecessary. There was an unspoken rule among Mages that they wouldn't talk about such things in front of ordinary people, because it would be too degrading and unbefitting of their identities. After the deed was done, Karl would give Liang Lidong a great gift according to the unspoken rule. He wouldn't let him suffer any losses.

Liang Lidong bought a lot of alchemical items, which should've been worth about two gold coins, but the black-robed Mage simply waved his hand and waived the expense.

After chatting with the happy black-robed Mage for a while, the three of them left the Guild of Mercenaries and wandered in the city. Since it was rare for the two little fellows to come to the city, he naturally had to make them happy. Belin looked around curiously. She was interested in everything, but she didn't buy anything. After all, she didn't have money. The ten silver coins that Liang Lidong gave to her were all given to her father, and Kail bought some gadgets such as hand guards.

Liang Lidong bought a common iron sword … Not only could a Divine Noble use it, but he was also good at swordsmanship.

During this process, Liang Lidong noticed that two men had been following them, but they didn't seem malicious. Liang Lidong ignored them. After about an hour, the two men disappeared on their own. Liang Lidong guessed that they must've been Kail's "trouble," but it seemed that they didn't intend to have a conflict with him.

They wandered in the city for almost three hours, and the sun was about to set. The three of them left the city gate and hurried back to the village with the help of Fog Riding.

Before Belin left, she thanked Liang Lidong again and again for taking her to the city, saying that it was a happy day for her.

For this girl who had never seen the world, everything in the big city attracted her. In comparison, Kail was much calmer, but Liang Lidong could tell that Kail's eyes were glittering. It was the look of a man with dreams and goals.

Liang Lidong made a bowl of handmade noodles for dinner, but even so, the simple noodle dish still had six Delicacy Points. After he was full, Liang Lidong returned to his room and took a short rest to calm himself down. He took out all the materials he bought and put them on the table, beginning to make magic scrolls.

Making magic scrolls was a compulsory course for all Warlocks, and Liang Lidong was very good at it. Also, with the class specialty Magic Scroll Making, he believed that his success rate would be high when he made the scrolls later.

The first magic scroll was Water Healing, a level-one spell of water. First, he established six basic nodes on the special parchment. Then, he began to fill in the structure, input magic power, and change the nodes and routes of magic power … Success.

The second magic scroll was Cure, a level-two spell of nature. First, he established fourteen basic nodes … Success!

The third magic scroll was Grand Fireball, a level-two spell of fire. He started with twenty-three basic nodes … Failure. The magic recoil made Liang Lidong's head swell for a while.

After a rest, he began to make the fourth magic scroll, Air Shield, a level-one spell of air. Eight basic nodes … Success.

A success rate of seventy-five percent was quite good. Liang Lidong had intended to make two more magic scrolls, but he overestimated his speed. After his rebirth, his level returned to zero, and his attributes dropped a lot, making him do things slower than before.

Unlike regular games, players could get character experience by doing most things, but they couldn't get it immediately. Instead, they had to wait until midnight. According to what you did during the day, a complicated algorithm would be run, and the system would finally decide to give it to you. Therefore, the time when the players leveled up was definitely at midnight.

It was almost midnight. Liang Lidong moved a chair to the balcony and sat in the night breeze. Tonight's moon was as bright as the night before. He looked at the silver moon and thought of the Persian cat and Little White. These were the nicknames he had given them. At first, they were not very willing, but after a while, they accepted it.

Blondie and Whitey were twins. They looked exactly the same, but their hair color was different. They were quite beautiful, indescribably beautiful. Ever since he met them, Liang Lidong had never felt the slightest bit for other women.

"They're too beautiful. They even left a letter saying that I'm not allowed to be a playboy. It's obvious that I don't have any feelings for other women. How can I be a playboy?"

Amid such helpless and complacent ravings, a bright system prompt popped up in the center of his vision:

Character level up!
