"Lizzy!"
"You!"
"How are you still alive?"
The boys couldn't hide their surprise the moment the door opened, there at the entrance was the girl whom they all thought would be dead already. She was the reason why Max and Zheren with the other boys had to risk their life inside a locked building.
"You are perfectly fine!" Harry commented after scrutinising her. The boys hearing what he said all looked at her and just like he said, the girl was fine with no wounds or blood marks on her. "Weren't you taken by these monsters?"
"I should be dead by now..." The girl replied and then paused on her words. She trailed her eyes to the three monsters lying dead and grinned. No one saw this but she clenched her fist slightly before releasing them. "You guys killed these horrible monsters? Thank you so much for what you did," she continued, her eyes already soaked with water. "They planned on killing me the moment I was brought here but later they rushed off for reasons I know nothing about, that was how I was able to escape and met you guys here."
The boys listened carefully to what the girl was saying, initially, they did not want to believe anything that she says because they were still confused about how she survived alone without being killed or hurt but after listening to her story, they felt hopeless and pitiful for her.
"Then let's leave this damn place, I'm tired already," Nat grumbled and stood up.
"Yeah, let's go," Zheren agreed and everyone stood up and began to walk towards the entrance. Max was the last person to leave, when he got to where the girl was standing, he stopped in his track and gazed at her from head to toe before finally leaving the place.
When they came outside the building, they were met by other students and some teachers who were waiting for them. Upon seeing the boys, one of the teachers rushed inside the building only to come out with a shocking expression on his face, he approached the boys and held Nat.
"How did you kids kill those monsters?" He asked Nat.
"Actually, we did a teamwork but he did the most work," Nat replied while pointing over at Max. The teacher and the students all turned their attention to Max.
"Him?" One of the teachers asked while strangely staring at Max.
"Yes, him. He saved us all," Harry added.
"Impossible! I don't believe it! You can't tell me that someone with no ability was capable of killing those monsters," the teacher said with a disdain look.
"Hey, let's leave!" Max turned and told Zheren. He didn't wait for his friend to reply before walking away. 'Stupid teachers! you all are still looking down on me, tsk!'
"Wait up!" Zheren yelled and followed after Max.
"Kid, are you sure you are telling the truth?" The teacher asked not wanting to believe what he heard.
"Sir, you can believe it or not but I've told you nothing but the truth," Nat said and walked away followed by his friends. To him, it was useless trying to make them believe, they would never accept the truth, not when Max is involved.
"Students, you can go back to your dorms and have some rest," one of the teachers said to the students who were there. After they had left, he turned to the teacher who couldn't believe that Max was able to kill those monsters. "They might be saying the truth, you know..."
"Who cares if he is saying the truth!" The teacher said coldly while glaring at the other teacher. "I don't care about the truth, I won't stand by and watch him become powerful!" He added and walked out of the place.
----------
"Those bunch of idiots! They would never believe it until I become the strongest ability user!" Max said as he entered his dorm.
"Did you see the look of shock on their faces? Haha! It was amazing to watch," Zheren added with a chuckle. "It's obvious that they don't want you to become someone great. They just want you to keep being their punching bag and a bad example to other students."
"Now, you see why I don't want to help them, they don't deserve something good. Nothing!" Max said and strolled to his bed, remembering something he turned around. "By the way, how are your wounds?" He asked.
"The wounds are closing and I don't feel pains," Zheren replied while looking at the wounds on his arms.
"That's good! After having our baths, we should go and eat," Max said and went into the bathroom. While he was bathing, his mind was somewhere else. 'How was she able to survive without injuries? I can no longer feel the aura I felt the first time but she keeps giving me strange vibes he thought to himself.
He took his bath immediately and then waited for Zheren to have his after which they left for the school cafeteria.
While they were eating, Max was absent throughout the whole meal so much so that Zheren took notice of it but he decided to not ask about it. But on their way back to the dorm, Max suddenly informed him that he would be going to the school library and will be back before the curfew time. From the look on his face, Zheren knew it was something serious and as a friend, he needed to know what the problem is.
"Is there a problem Max? You've been absent-minded the whole time during our meal and now you are sounding too serious, what's the matter?"
"It's not something I would like to say now as I am not too sure about it myself, but I'll tell you about it later when I come back. Go back to the dorms and wait for me," Max replied to Zheren and left him. His mind hadn't for a second settled after seeing Lizzy back at the building, something felt off about her and he wanted to find out and the only time he could do it is now or things might become too bad. He strolled until he got to that same building, after making sure that no one followed him, he went into the building. When he got to a large room, he stopped in his tracks.
"I knew you would be back and so I waited for you, you should be happy that someone like me stooped so low just to see you," the voice of the girl was heard as she materialized in the room.
