Miss America

Star Skyline was having a really really bad day.

And as she left Recovery Girls office, she honestly didn't think it could get much worse either, until she came across... them.

"Is that STAR SKYLINE?!"

"Why did she ruin her beautiful hair?!"

"What a small world!"

"Everyone back in America is going to freak!"

"No wonder she's been out of the press lately, we have to let everybody know!"

"I have to take a picture of this-"

"NO PICTURES!" Star shouted, turning around in a panic.

"EEEEEEEE IT IS HER!"

Star winced. Shit, it had been a while since she handled stuff like this, and apparently all her training went right out the window when she drank. It wasn't much of a relief to know that if her cover hadn't been blown by a computer, then it would've been blown by the cheerleaders UA brought in from America. It's like someone had it out for her today. As she heard angry firecrackers behind her, she really winced. That's it, the universe was apparently playing a massive joke on her right now.

Bakugo turned the corner and paused in his steps, anger fading from his face. He looked like he was debating something, before looking up and to the side with a 'tch'. She shook her head 'no' to him, anxiously looking back to the audience behind her, but he had that stupid stubborn look on his face.

He marched up and turned her around to face him, jaw clenched in determination. "I'm only gonna say this once Freckles... I'm sorry. I was a dic-"

"OMG SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND?!" A few phone cameras went off.

"AWW was he about to apologize?"

"He's so strong and handsome!"

"Wasn't he with her after the first task?!"

"Oh, when she was crying? Must've been a lovers quarrel-"

"OI! WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU SHITS?!" Bakugo roared over Star's shoulder, explosions coming off his hands.

Star groaned, hiding her face. "Oh god no don't talk to them!"

"Oh my gosh so vulgar! Do you think that's why she's hiding him from her parents?!"

"Look at him being protective!"

"Maybe it's forbidden love and that's why she moved to Japan!!"

"OMG THAT MUST BE IT! That's why she's at UA! To be with her boyfriend!"

"What would her ex say?!"

Bakugo pulled Star behind him, looking at the many cheerleaders with wild confusion. He took a fighting stance in front of her, and was about to attack when Star pulled him back by his shirt. "No! You've done enough!"

Cameras went off and she groaned, pulling him into the room closest to her and slamming the door shut behind them with a grimace.

"What was th-"

"I shook my head no! Can you not take a hint, Bakugo?! I should've waited for Hitoshi, he could've taken care of it!" Speaking of... She opened her phone and sent him a text.

"What can that Brainiac do that I can't?!"

"You made them think you're my boyfriend, you idiot! You don't understand how heroes in America work! It's not like here, where they are well known figures, they're celebrities there!"

"Tch, it's not like you're a top hero there."

"My parents are! You… you... idiot!" She shouted furiously. She didn't even care if he knew, the whole class would know by tomorrow anyway. And judging by the pictures the girls took and the press at the event today, so would the rest of the world. Including her father. She cringed. There was nothing her father hated more than a ruined image and bad press.

Bakugo looked at her in gaping disbelief. "Your parents are top heroes?"

A voice came from behind them, "Um, actually, they're THE top heroes."

Bakugo and Star turned around at the same time to see Deku sitting at the table inside the room they had just barged into. Star sighed, and sat at the table across from him, head in her heads. Bakugo 'tch'ed at his rival. "You're shitting me, right?"

Deku stumbled in his rush to explain. "N-no! Pamela Skyline is the number one Pro Hero, 'Shifter', with an atom shifting quirk. And Christopher Skyline, 'Captain Celebrity', is the number 2 Pro Hero, with a flight quirk! He worked here in Japan for a while, but the family hasn't been here in a long time. Star Skyline, or Olivia I-I guess, is their daughter. Her quirk was hidden from the media, k-kinda like how All Might and Captain Celebrity's are." Star was relieved to hear that her dad's quirk was only known by close family friends, but her relief was quickly dashed as Deku continued. "Star was known mostly for dating the now Ace of Ketsubutsu, Shin-" Deku's mouth was quickly covered by Star as she launched herself across the table at him.

"How do you know that?!" She hissed dangerously.

Deku gulped, looking around nervously as he leaned back from her hand to speak. "I um, I keep up with hero news from around the w-world actually, even if it seems silly!"

Bakugo started chuckling, and she sent him a death glare. "Well isn't that precious. I'm starting to see why you were keeping this all a secret, Miss America."

Her chair fell over as she stalked towards him, steam coming out of her ears. She was stopped short as the door opened, and Hitoshi walked in.

"Please tell me you took care of them." She begged him, distracted.

"They're taken care of, Olive." He reassured her, hands in his pockets. He sent a smirk towards Bakugo. "What's Hot-Shot doing here?"

Bakugo growled at Hitoshi, but Star stepped in front of him, crossing her arms. He 'tch'ed angrily, but stopped, crossing his own arms and looking away stubbornly.

"Did you use your quirk?" She asked, turning back to Hitoshi.

Hitoshi looked behind them at Deku, then back to her. "No… I can't afford to use my quirk before the next round."

"Wait… then how did you get rid of them?"

"Oh, I just told them I was your boyfriend, and that Hot-Shot here was trying to steal you away."

"YOU DID WHAT?!" Her cheeks tinged pink as she screamed.

"What? I thought them thinking he was your boyfriend was the problem? You didn't exactly give me a lot of information, Olivia. You just texted 'SOS America is going to pair me with Bakugo x.x'." Hitoshi chuckled, pulling out his phone.

Suddenly calm, Star turned towards the door. "That's it. I'll be going now."

"Where?" Hitoshi lazily asked, pocketing his phone again.

"To jump off the top of the arena. It'll be a less painful death then when my father catches wind of this. Goodbye-" She waved as she took a step.

"Oh no you don't." Bakugo growled, nabbing her around the waist as she started walking out the door. "I don't lose to anyone, even if it is a damn fake story. You're going to sit your ass on the sidelines and cheer for me like a good little love interest, and show America that I didn't come in second to this purple haired extra." Bakugo growled, glaring at Hitoshi without moving his arm.

Star's face went bright red as she struggled angrily against his grip, "You forget that you were an absolute jerk to me, and that I. Don't. Like. You. Anymore!" She huffed as she fought her way out of his arm, embarrassed and livid. At least no one here could read her mind, allowing her to lie.

Bakugo let go of her in shock, "...Anymore?"

Star somehow got redder, her face blending in with her hair as she let out a strangled noise, and stormed out of the waiting room.

Bakugo was still speechless, and it took him a second to recover, before his ears went pink and he stormed off after her.

Just Hitoshi Shinso and Midoriya were left in the room, and Hitoshi hummed.

"Hmm, interesting." He mused, half a grin on his face.

Midoriya hesitantly spoke up, still surprised at the scene that had just played out in his waiting room. "What is?"

"I did use my quirk. I just wanted to yank Hot-Shot's chain a bit. I thought she'd know that from reading my mind, but that… ha." He chuckled, "Interesting. She was too absorbed in his mind to notice… ha… this is going to be fun."

And with that, he gave Midoriya a casual salute, and walked out the door.
