Chapter 17

Emily looked at her husband sadly. He pursed his lips with an upset expression.

"He still hates us." she said sadly.

"He doesn't hate us. He hates me because he thinks that I'm hiding something from him." he told her and held her shoulder comfortingly.

Emily looked up at him hopefully.

"Owen, let's -" she got cut off by him.

"No. I know what you're going to say, but my answer will remain no. And we discussed this already. My answer is not going to change." he told her and sighed.

Emily nodded.

"Let's go see Plum first." She told him.

She was worried about Axel, but she was worried about Plumeria because unlike her he wasn't in the hospital.

"Which room is she in?" Emily asked her.

"Room X, Axel said." Emily told him.

Owen nodded, and they both hurried to the room.

They went near the reception desk when they saw two familiar figures.

"I'm sorry, only the family is allowed to visit the patient." The nurse told the couple.

"But we are soon to be family. That girl is my son's fiancé, so doesn't that make her family?" Logan asked her.

Ella nodded, agreeing with her husband.

The nurse looked at them with a frustrated look. She was about to open her mouth when Owen interfered.

"These two are family. I'm Plumeria Ashlyn's father." Owen told the nurse coming behind them.

Logan and Ella turned around and looked at their two friends with delight and relief.

"It's good to see you, old friend." Logan told him and gave him a hug.

Ella also ran up to Emily and held her hands worriedly.

"Oh, you must be so worried." Ella told her and looked at her husband. "We can catch up and warm up later. The room number."

"Ahh, yes." Logan said, realizing that he got sidetracked.

Logan had called Plumeria's parents before they reached the hospital. And unlike them, they didn't know her room number because Levi didn't tell them and they only realized that when they reached the hospital. Logan wouldn't have gone through all this trouble with the nurse if his son had answered his calls.

"We know the room number. Follow us." Emily told them in a rush.

She wanted to see that her daughter was okay with her own eyes.

They all went to her room together, but when they got inside, they were all shocked by what they saw.

Owen got angry when he saw his daughter cry with him on top of him.

"Someone is gonna die today." He said angrily through his teeth and marched up to Levi.

When Levi saw him coming towards him angrily, he panicked.

"It's not what you th-" he was about to say, but he got cut off before he could finish his sentence because Owen punched him so hard that he fell off of her to the side.

Emily and Logan grabbed Own and pulled him away from Levi as he tried to fight them.

"Calm down, Owen!" Emily told him, pulling him away from Levi.

"Let's hear them out first!" Logan told him.

"Let me go, I'm gonna kill him!" Owen said angrily while looking at Levi like he wanted to eat him alive.

'That's right. Show them the real monster you are.' Levi growled on the inside, looking at him.

"Dad, stop!" Plumeria told her father in a panicked tone as Ella rushed over to her son.

"He was abusing you and you're protecting him despite that?" he asked her angrily and disappointedly.

"No, no. It's not that! You misunderstood the whole situation!" she told him in a frustrated tone because she wanted to get up, but she couldn't.

Owen stopped fighting Emily and Logan. He looked at his daughter because he trusted her words.

"Explain." Owen told her.

•••

Plumeria was crying silently while hugging him. She wanted to stop, but she couldn't because the tears wouldn't stop flowing. Her heart was aching too much from what she saw, even though she knew that she had never experienced this in real life.

'Why won't I stop crying? And why the hell can I stop hugging him? What is wrong with you? You're gonna regret it later.' she told herself.

Levi, on the other hand, just caressed her back to calm her down without over thinking much.

Suddenly, his phone rang, and they broke apart. She breathed in relief, but her tears wouldn't stop falling.

Levi got up and looked at the caller ID. It was his father. He decided to ignore it for now and turned it off for now. He looked at her and frowned when he saw that she was still crying.

"Should I call the doctor?" he asked her.

She looked at him, confused, and sniffed.

"You are crying because your head hurts, right?" he asked her.

Plumeria only then did she remember that she hit the back of her head on the bed frame.

"I need to go to the bathroom." She told him and winced in pain because she forgot that her feet were wounded.

She lost her balance and unconsciously she tried to grab something to save herself from falling, but the only thing she could grab was Levi's shirt, which was a mistake. She pulled her with him and he lost his balance as well. They both fell down to the floor with Levi on top of her. Luckily, she didn't hit her head again because somehow he managed to place his hand behind her head just in time. But unluckily, they both hit their forehead hard against each other. She let out a small yell in pain and started crying again because his head hit hers pretty hard.

He pushed himself up a little and rubbed his head with a groan. He looked at her, feeling frustrated because it was her own fault that she stood on her injured feet and fell, but seeing her cry made him sigh internally.

"Let me take a look." He told her and then added. "Today really started with bad luck for you."

He grabbed her hand and pulled it away from her face. A small bump appeared on her forehead.

"I have a feeling it's gonna get big." he told her, looking at her.

"Can you get off, please? You're heavy." She told her while tears came out of her eyes.

He was about to get off when suddenly the door opened. They both looked up and saw that it was their parents. They panicked a little, knowing that they may misunderstand, and Plumeria's father did.

Plumeria managed to calm him down and told him everything that had happened. When she was finished, Owen was embarrassed and felt guilty that he didn't ask what happened and just assumed everything.

He looked at Levi apologetically.

"I'm sorry. I'm at fault here." he told him.

"I can't believe that you thought that my son was being abusive to his future wife. Honestly, Owen, I'm so disappointed in you." Ella told him. She was still holding a grudge against him. She turned and looked at Plumeria, who was sitting on the bed. "I don't blame you, though, dear. But you must take care of yourself."

"Yes, Mrs. Adler." she told her, looking down.

Ella waved her hand in front of her and let out a laugh.

"No need to be so formal with me, dear. We are family and there's no need for formality between family." she told her.

"I couldn't agree more. You can call us Logan and Ella or Mom and dad." Logan told her.

"Ok… Logan. Ella." she said with some discomfort while looking at the two.

"I was hoping to be called mom by her though." Ella mumbled with a slight frown.

Logan, who was the only one near her, chuckled at her remark.

"In due time, my dear." he told her.

Plumeria looked at them, confused because she didn't hear her well. Logan saw that.

"It's nothing to be concerned about. She was just talking to herself." he told her.

Levi, who was sitting on a chair, looked at her displeased.

'I can't believe that I almost believed that I almost forgave that vixen. Remember what happened. Don't let her little tactics confuse you. She is only acting, remember?' he thought and looked at Owen. 'And you? You will soon pay dearly for hitting me."

Owen saw him looking at him.

"I really am sorry, son." he told him. "If there's any way, I can make it up to you for that, then I will."

Levi got up and looked at him dead serious.

"Then how about you hand your company over to me?" he suggested in a serious tone.
